Since when was Hulkageddon a yearly event?
As soon as Hulk prices drop below the "accepted rate" whatever that is, expect Hulkageddon 3 within the year.
The only thing that will end Hulkageddon is A) insurance changes, or B) Helicity decides to transfer all the loot and ISK to an anonymous account and disappear....

"It is interesting how gankers can band together for such a huge event as HG but industry pilots can't band together to attempt to crash the market or inflate the rates."
That assumes that all of the producers are against Hulkaggedon. That's a bad assumption.

I think the point is, you can't stop it. You just need to deal with it. It has impacted me greatly, I'm spending waaaaay too much time at work reading all the HG stuff. It's good entertainment and also an excellent source for determining who in eve gets the game and who doesn't. A side note to the newer players. I bought my hulk for 660 mil isk. What?? you say. How can that be? I bought it pre invention. So just pause for a moment and realize how fortunate you are that hulks now cost so little. (and if you think this is a big forum deal, "invention is going to ruin eve" was pretty big too, and "warp to zero is going to ruin eve" also a huge deal.
So here we are. HG exists. It's here because, <personal reason/belief/suspicion here>. It happens every <year/price point reached/helicity says so :P here>. It can't be stopped.

Also, it's such a cheap buy-in to be a ganker. I'll not say that's bad, but at the very least CCP could acknowledge that there system of security is a piece of crap for hi-sec. If course, if it doesn't affect their pet corps the devs do crap anyhoo.

Crashing the markets will take a lot more work and dedication than it does to organize and execute hulkageddon. The point still remains, adapt and do something in the game, not on the forums. Stop asking for others to do something for you. Do it yourself. Organize a market thingy to make hulkageddon a mess. Buy all the smartbombs, give out free hulks, hide the ice/asteroid belts. STOP trying to get others to take care of you. Take care of yourslef. Don't ask/demand CCP fix (put stuff here). Take matters into your own hands. "But Serendipity, I don't have shooty shooty skills, I'm just a miner" You have a year till the next HG to fix that, you have a year to plan and crash the market, you have a year to .... DO IT. Don't come here and allow folks to poke fun at you. Hatch an evil secret plan and execute it. You won't win eve on the forums.

Edit - not directed at you personally Vin, directed at the multitudes of potential in the vast space of eve. On reread that may not have been clear.
No worries. HG doesn't really affect me much. I'm no miner. I'd rather see the miners band together and do something instead of complain to CCP. I do feel CCP should probably change the insurance policy when it comes to suicides but that's their decision. If industrialists really want to fight back then they need to do the same thing the gankers are doing but on the market side. And you're right...it would take quite some time to "gank" the market but that's really their only other option besides to "just not mine".

Ir you really want them to stop, get out of your hulk, put down your purse "no offence ladies" and get in something with guns and go looking for the guy who ganked you. Set a trap with a hulk or two in low sec and bait them in. Its not that big a stretch to turn the tables on those responsible for hulkageddon. And honestly I think many of them would get a kick out of a carebear who actually stepped away from his "space rocks" and picked up a weapon for a change.
Dont wait for CCP to "fix" something that isnt broken. If you dont like the fight, change the way it goes down. The thing I enjoy the most about eve is the abulity to innovate and use teamwork to achieve things that the developers may have never intended. Hulkageddon is one example of this but I know that its just a scratch on the surface of the possibulities.

There may be some cheaper ways to fight back in some cases. If there is a group of -10 ish guys operating in you system, say on a regular basis maybe during an advertised miner ganking event....
They are -10, so if in a ship, you don't have to kill them, just warp disrupt them until the authorities get there. How to do that? Fit a warp scrambler. Where to do it? Not in the belt as they blow you up. Get them at gates as they enter your system. Get them at the undocks of the stations in your system. More adavanced? You may have to drop some probes and find the 'safe spot' (my favorite eve misnomer) where they get into their gank ships.
Tools required: 1)Frigate (faster locking is better) 2)Sensor booster (add the scan resolution script) 3)Warp disruptor
Detailed Directions 1)Camp the gate of entry (set on the gate at 0 meters) or occupied station. 2)Turn on sensor booster (s) 3)Lock any flashy red evil doers that happen by 4)Click warp disruptor on 5)Enjoy magnificent graphics 6)Repeat as necessary
There is little risk for you in this scenario and zero gankage for the evil doer.
Pro tips: 1)To lock quickly, hold control button and left click on the flashy in the overview (works on NPC rats also) 2)Keeping you ship in motion minimizes the chance an evil gunship will harm you 3)Smartbombs can not be activated in the docking ring of stations (they can't hurt you)
