CCP Habakuk wrote:The latest changes (fix for Anti-aliasing and writing settings) are on Singularity now. It would be awesome, if you could try them out and report back in this thread.
For further reports about problems: Please give us information about your video card and your video settings to make it a bit easier to see any trends.
While keeping one client on TQ and opening a test client on Singularity jettison a can, putting items in it, moving items around on that client, things ran fine. Its only a quick test and needs further investigation/validation. The frame rate dropped only from 60 to 52 then back very quick, which is a lot better then my experience with cans in TQ.
So first impression is that it does improve things, I will put some more time in for more detailed tests when i get back from work ....it looks promising! |

The most severe slowdown seem to have gone for me, but the FPS is still not as stable and glued to 60 as it once was.
And I noticed a very specific case (easy to reproduce where FPS becomes glued to a very low number).
See: http://clip2net.com/s/25GbW
It happens when you go to the windows task-bar and keep the mouse hovering above any (not just EVE) running application on there!
I run 4 clients on Windows 7 using 2 independent ATI HD6970 cards. I am not sure this particular slowdown is really to blame to the EVE client, but it a remarkable slowdown and affects those multi boxing to some degree. At least it is interesting to know what is going on there!

I changed some system and compatibility settings that affect rendering in windows 7 + EVE window mode and it looks promising, I would like others with more severe problems to try these out and see if that helps them.
As I wrote before, I run in fixed window mode across 3 screens and give each client their own screen, your case may vary. Also I run without windows 7 UI candy on (Aero).
Go to computer > properties > Advanced System Settings . On the Advance Tab, click the button for Performance Settings.
Set everything to performance (maybe try with "Enable desktop composition" still on, but mine is always off and you may need to reboot!
See: http://clip2net.com/s/25Iht
Then on your shortcut to EVE set the following compatibility options (I had "Disable visual themes" already off, but now checked the "Disable display scaling" option as well)
See: http://clip2net.com/s/25IgK
Here the WIndows 7 information about "Desktop composition" and what it does:
See: http://windows7support247.blogspot.nl/2011/01/enable-or-disable-desktop-composition.html
try both with and without...and make sure that after changing it, the setting sticks!!!
These setting might not remedy the issue, but i think using these settings will make it less problematic! |

Alundil wrote:However, looking at POS modules (specifically reactor lines/arrays) is still pretty bad. FPS drops from 60 to about 17 with one client looking at the arrays. Drops to about 9 with two looking at the arrays. Panning the camera away from the arrays sees the FPS jump back up.
That sounds like a serious case of overdraw or overdone geometry. I know of some missions that have these anomalies in them (bright shining stuff) that generates a similar slowdown if it is too prominent in view. One such mission is called "The blockade" (level 4 Serpents mission) for example. |
