[5] Drukenmaster was correct on both... Here you go. Easy one to learn also. Engineering = Basic understanding of spaceship energy grid systems. 5% Bonus to powercore power output per level. Then you have: Controlled Bursts = Allows better control over the capacitor use of turrets. Grants a 5% per level reduction in capacitor need of turrets. Hope this was what you were looking for... [11] Blaxx, sorry, there is no powercore mirror to the CPU weapons upgrade skill. Disappointing, especially along with the fact pirate weapons always get a CPU decrease and no powercore reduction. Guess CCP doesn't like the idea of people fitting more than one or two big guns on a ship. |

[13] I do suspect that this is on purpose, it's not a missing skill so much as an unimplemented one. What's this about only having a couple of large turrets on your ship? I can run 4 dual 425mm artillery turrets on my Moa provided I make suitable sacrifices elsewhere. But then, that's a question of shipfitting so goes in some other forum. -- In-game HTML guide: http://www.mcdee.net/eve/html.html |

[15] If I'm not mistaken you can train Electronics to have bonus to the CPU capacity in your ship. Also you can use a photonic CPU module which greatly enhances your CPU capacity, I forget the precise name of the module. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

[23] Er.. perhaps you should take a look at the skill descriptions the next time. First - the Cap (aka power) Usage and the Powergrid are two wholly different values, which DON'T affect each other. Warp Drive Opertion reduces the amount of cap you need for a jump considerably. Which is good for travelling, but will have practically no effect when fighting (unless you jump very big distances to the fighting place, which is unwise with a high WDO skill, too). Controlled Bursts reduce the cap usage of weapons by 5% per lvl, quite handy. Energy Systems Operation isn't effecting power usage, but power generation, you cap will regenerate 5% faster per level in ESO. Energy Manegement is enhancing the cap size by 5% for each lvl, so has basically the same effect as ESO. Both of this skills are best combined. But all this skills above are not valid for the original question, since they modify/effect cap size, regeneration and usage by several devices and have nothing to do with the powercore. Engeneering is the *only* skill which modifies the power core of a ship, +5% per lvl. A high engeneering skill can mean the difference between being able to use all slots of a ship or not. Energy Grid Upgrades does not effect the powercore or cap size/usage/regeneration at all. It it a) needed to be able to use reactor control (lvl1) or power diag (lvl2) system. A higher skill reduces the amount of CPU such devices need (5% less cpu need for such device per skill lvl, at lvl2 a 20cpu power diag need only 18 cpu). |

[25] Is that not what I said ? I did that on purpose, I need power to fire my lasers, so I need to save on power (cap) usage as much as I can. Frankly, as long as CCP keeps messing with the module/ship specs it can be really hard to add even 1 point to your power grid, next time you login it is gone. I lost 5 powergrid points in a single server patch earlier this week. Effectively making my energy grid upgrade work during last weekend obsolete :-( I did read descriptions, I guess the list at eve-i.com needs updating if I had things wrong. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

[29] *ONLY* Engineering has direct change to the max power a ship can. The only item I've seen that adds to max power are low slot and give +2. Let's take an Indy ship (Iteron Mk V) with a max power of 35. With Engineering 5, you get 25% more power. 35 x 1.25 = 43.75. To install a basic MWD requires 50 power. You can then us 4 of 5 low slots to get +8 PW to reach above 50 max power on an indy. It's near impossible to fit a MWD in other indy ship with 30 or less max power, even with Engineering 5 skill. I think Warp Drive Op should have a decrease power requiement usage of MWD. |

[31] Engeneering of lvl4 and 2 reactor control units are enough to bring the iterion V's powercore up to 50. For a Powercore 30 Indy you would need 4 reactor control units and Engeneering lvl4 to fit a MWD. |

[35] To Ilia Volyova: Great post with detailed explanations. Too bad some people just did not listed. To DJvGalen : I think you need to read more, and write less. Ilia gave you a perfect explanation on the topic, which helped clear up the confusion you caused with mis-information. Yet you basicly ignored it and posted more mis-information. DO YOU EVEN READ THE SKILL? Or do you just make up your own explanations for them. There are 3 different system stats on ships related to module install: CPU - amount of cpu for installing modules. Grid - amount of power for installing modules. Capacitor -rapid power for USING modules. If something does not say it effects POWERGRID then it does not effect power grid. CPU & Cap are not POWERGRID. So the reason Energy Grid upgrade did not give any points to POWERGRID, IS THAT IS DOES NOT GIVE ANY POINTS FOR POWERGRID! It is not a bug. If you read the skill it states it reduces the CPU requirement of upgrade systems. Hence lvl5 Enegy Grid Upgrade is +0 points to POWERGRID (however it would reduce the CPU requirement for upgrade systems by 25%). Also CCP has not changed the ship stats from last patch (except they added 1 medium slots to some cruisers & battleships). They did change the stats from some items which may have affected you ship. To anyone else: The ONLY skill that affects POWERGIRD directly is egineering PERIOD. There are some modules which increase POWERGRID: Basic Reactor Control Unit +5% POWEGRID Reactor Control Unit +10% POWERGIRD Basic Diagnostic System* +2.5% POWERGRID Power Diagnostic System* +5% POWERGRID *Note: Power Diag also adds bonuses to shield, hp, and cap. Also the bonuses stack so if you had 1 Diag System, 1 Reactor Control Unit, Engineering V and your base power grid is 35 the you would have 1.25*1.10*1.05*35 = 50.5 power unit. (I think it rounds down to 50). In my opinion engineering is a skill you may want to train early, and max quickly. Simply because it boost the major limiter to heavy weaponry on any ship. Even on cruisers a +25% to POWERGRID is very important. |

[41] I read all the topics in this thread about Energy and Power, they were very helpful. There are so many skilled people playing this game. This is my first online experience in a game like this. I am inquiring at Denver University in Denver Colorado if there is a course given about understanding on how to plays this game. Maybe it will be called "Eve-Online 101" Basic Understanding of the Mechanics of Eve-Online. |
