Finally, for only 1.7 million, you have potentially a ship that can potentially match the mining output of an Apoc or a Geddon, give or take some CPU issues, addressable with CPU mods or named mining lasers. While the Mining Barges will be the kings of mining from now on, I can't help but noticing how destroyers can provide an excellent secondary mining capability still superior to most cruisers. Destroyers have a reasonably sized cargo hold (400 for most) and either have 7 to 8 turrets. They also have a higher base speed than mining barges, and that can make them potentially excellent ninja miners.

With mods and top skills, you could probably fit 4 miner IIs (not sure if that would kill your cap though). Still think a cruiser would best a destroyer in mining output.

Unlikely.
You can at best fit 5 named miner I equivalent (EPS gaussians, Cu Vapors etc) with electronics5 and cpu2's.
A cheapo newbie cruiser, like an Osprey or Scythe has more cargo and has a mining laser yield bonus, as well as being more resilient.
However it might be useful if you are willing to accept its limitations and take advantage of its low signature radius, which might give you extra time to bug out of a bad situation.

You won't be seeing these things strip mining in Yulai any time soon. Not even close.

Hmm, why are people suggesting to fit miner 2 on these? I mean cpu is the bottleneck, there are miner lasers that give like 47 ore for 48 cpu? So what if you have a destroyer that can fit more of these? Cormorant is not an option to do it, since it has only 1 low slot, so you cant increase your cpu enough.

Rubbish, there's nowhere near enough CPU to mount a decent amount of lasers.

I fitted a Destroyer with 3 Miner 2s and 4 small lasers, One cap recharer, and 4 cpuII It would fill my cargo hold every pulse. Took it to .5 then .3 and it did some what ok in 5 but had a lil rough time trying to mine and fight
