Yeah, they could restore his data, but this guy admitted that he had given the guy access to his accounts which is a flagrant EULA violation. Then he goes to whine about it on the forums and is probably going to catch a ban for it. Good riddance.
Did your wife leave you for a system admin or something?
No, but I get tired of people obfuscating a simple cut and dry issue with useless crap.
You would have to be ******ed if you don't think CCP backs up their servers and to expound for 4 paragraphs on backing up databases is stupid.

Well get ready for another 'long' post:
First, ouch man watch the comments, that really hurt! I was unaware that internet space was at a premium these days, do I owe you anything for forcing my comments on you, or were they too tough to read and you just skipped them over . I guess I should have proceeded my comments with "IMHO" or "please forgive the length of the post".
But, guess what, I really do not care what you really think of the post, as it was only intended to be informative, and was meant specifically to help the OP understand how the technology worked. If you read it and got something from it great! If you did not well that is really your loss.
If you read the OP's post (my guess is you probably didn't), he/she asked several questions in which the information was indeed relevant:

So "Doll" quit yer *****in', learn how to read properly, and keep on playing.

So apparently Gerreri is the only person that can actually read between the lines. This guy was sharing his account with his buddy and his buddy got butt-hurt about something and deleted everything.
Simple. Cut. Dry.
I hope he enjoys his ban.

Edited by: Naked Horse on 10/02/2010 11:55:23 So, you said you lost 3 years worth. I assume you had one account. 3 years is 36 months. That has cost you 538,2 euro. Now, lets say you had assets for 4.5 bils. A 60 day gtc sells for 570 (circa) in game. That is 8x 60 day game cards. Those cost 26,67 euros each at battleclinic, that amount to 213,36 euros. With the cost of subscription fees that comes to 751,56 euros. I'd go get that money from him. That way you can buy a bunch of gtc's, sell them, buy a new character and replace some of your assets. That amount of money converted to gtc's that are in turn sold in game will give you 15b and 960m. That should be enough for a 3 year old character and some nice stuff.
Sorry if my math is off but that is what I would do.
*edit* I saw that gtc's go for 520m each atm, so it would be 14b 560m. Still a good amount. -------------------------------------------------- The TNG lottery Link

Originally by: EXO NEFIN Ok so I put in a petition for this a few days ago and was just wandering if anyone has had any experience or knowledge on a similar predicament.
I recently came back from a few day vacation to find out that my 'friend', we're not talking, decided that I don't need to play eve anymore. He logged onto my accounts and deleted what characters he could.
Yea I know he shouldn't be able to log on to my accounts. I had the info in a folder by my comp with all my maps and so forth.
Anyway the thought of starting over, which I've already done in the past few days while waiting for a petition response, is killing me.
My main, and 2 alts are gone. About 2-3years of playtime and several billion in assets.
Is there any chance of recovery? I don't know how the info is handled on the tranquility server or if its still there after deletion. Could the characters be rebuilt from the most recent Sisi info?
I've read the UELA and it states that only corrupt characters can be rebuilt but. . . . I guy can hope right.
Might be time to move on I guess....
Do yourself a favour, If CCP doesnt restore your charachters just go to Star Trek online.
Best advice i could give you.

tech comment: I would be very, very surprised if anything actually gets deleted from the database. Maintaining consistency would be a nightmare compared to a few bytes...

How about the "Don't Share Your Password" advice?
CCP can certainly restore your character if they wanted to do so.
But unfortunately you lost your toon due to your violation of the EULA, releasing CCP of any liability to restore the toon.

Writing account info down so I don't forget it is against the EULA? *puts on tinfoil hat, goes to shred a few files*
Edit: Hold up, how else am I going to remember a randomized password, dozens of characters long, with no words in it? Halp meh with your apparent infinite wisdom!
