hi guys cat here
as you may know it is my dream to one day defend all innocent travellers from pirates across all new eden, and i think if i finally rid the universe from the scourge of piracy, i would have won eve lol 
how would you measure "winning eve"?

You can not win because there can be only 1 winner and I won long ago. You can only hope for second place now.

1) When all claimable sov space is claimed and controlled by your alliance
2) When all POS's in game are controlled by your alliance
3) When forming a corp/alliance outside of your own anywhere in game is never tried due to the immediate war dec and annihilation by your alliance anywhere in empire
If any alliance ever approached this level of dominance, ccp would change the game mechanics to break up your alliance's grip.

A good question that all overachievers should contemplate at least once in their Eve existence.
1)You win Eve if you have Sov over all systems at the same time (excluding empire space unfortunatly)
2)You win Eve if you acquire every item in the Eve universe
3)You win Eve if you make a friend or two that you keep in touch with throughout your mmorpg career
4)You win Eve if that girl with red hair from the htfu video falls madly in love you even though you accomplished none of the above 3 things.
I myself would be content with #1.

I just got the skills to fit another MLU II without sacrificing tank so I'm pretty sure I'm this close to winning EVE. 
Alternatively I too would have to say that "In this world the one who has the most fun is the winner". |

You cannot win Eve.
No matter how hardcore you are or how many tears you make carebears shed Eve gets stronger and moar unwinnable with every act of arsehattery. I mean ask the goonies who tried their best to win eve only to make it greater than it ever was in the process of losing it all themselves. Granted it was an awesome griefer victory for the goons with all the member corps getting the shaft by the core corp but still it only served the game mechanics and was not a 'win' by any stretch of the imagination.

You win EVE when you do something unique in such a way that your name will be stuck in EVE history.
So, Chribba has won EVE, the guys who single handedly took down BOB and Goonswarm won EVE, and the leadership of m0o have all won EVE.

IMO you can never truly really finally win :D
You can have winning episodes in some ways, but never really win the game itself.
Panda's are on quite a winning-trip currently :)
Also, another big win is the PLEX for Haiti thingy. Contributing Isk to a RL cause is really win!

Us, there mere mortals can NEVER win EVE, only Chuck Norris can win in EVE. One roundhouse kick and BOOM, he wins and the servers go down/crash.
Hence last night, Chuck Norris was playing and again he won, and alas we lost as he busted the server nodes again with his epic win and crashed them.
