Am I missing some rational logic here, the Jump Bridge is replacing the ships warp engines, so the jump bridge is warping the ship not the ship warping the jump bridge.
I was scrammed today and wasn't allowed to jump through the Jump Bridge. Who at ccp was playing idiot this time?

Its a warp gate, from point a to point b. Gates can't be counter, why should jump bridges? Its a large collide-able god damn object. My ship being jammed shouldn't affect another objects functionality. Mine fine, but a jbs's? I'm just sick of the ill logic this game expresses.

The same idiot who decided that jump mechanics would be over powered if every capital ship could just jump out any time they have a problem they cant handle... such an idiot!
Also - super capitals should also be able to jump out for the same reason that Cryson Veare wants to be able to jump out.

Edited by: Dyson Veare on 13/02/2010 00:30:05 You just don't get it. Why should jamming a ship affect the ship? Why not have to jam the jump bridge instead. The mechanics are separate here and that's what your not getting, a jump bridge jumps you. Your ship isn't the one jumping you. So having a point on you stopping you at a jb actually is logically flawed.
JB uses fuel, jump bridge jumps you, ship has warp drives that its not using to jump. So therefore, flawed..

Because it's not a warp gate. It's a limited shortcut between systems that isn't universally available and which needs to have some limit to how easy people can get away when they mess up.

Edited by: Sig Sour on 13/02/2010 00:34:45 That's the game mechanics dude. If you want to design a better system, I suppose you could get with NASA and do some field testing....
and if you really insist on proper wording for what you are *****ing about:
"Being within the jump bridge proximity enables the warp drive on a conventional ship to operate as a jump drive does."
How's that Tears Furgison?

You stupid ABSTARDS are not reading the point. The jump bridge is still jumping you, meaning it should be the target being scrammed, not your ship. The jump bridge is jumping you, therefor common sense would make it apparent that it would need to be jammed, not what its jumping. God how much more apparent do I have to make this observation to stupid for troll response kiddies.

No it isn't, it only allows your warp drive to work as a jump drive.

Insert some nonsense about warp scramblers doing something with space and energy which prevents your ship's warp engines from forming a "depleted vacuum bubble" which is somehow required for a twinned jump bridge to work correctly, but not a stargate. Probably because a jump bridge is a relatively small structures and probably outsources some of the functionality that a normal stargate has over to your ship's warp engine. Thus in order for a jump bridge to work correctly, it needs a ship's warp engine to be "unscrambled" so it can do it's space distortion thing correctly. ----------

OP could have worded a bit more diplomatically, but he's basically saying you should have to target the jump bridge to prevent warping. Which in the end, changes nothing.

well a stargate could never be jammed, they are bigger then and create a ton more energy then even a Titan. as they operate a stable wormhole.
that said if you put an Iris on an EVE stargate, how big of a thud would a battleship make?

Wondered about similar situations myself recently.
If a Cap/Supercap pilot is being Warp Scrambled, are they able to jump to a cyno in another system in order to GTFO?

I would like to point out that warp jammers and scramblers don't jam your warp drive engine, they jam your navigation computer. If your ship can't calculate the jump/warp, it isn't going anywhere. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

The question is at which point the experience begins to suffer from unintuitive gameplay. EVE has lots of these issues where a player can only guess (or memorize the entire evelopedia) what will happen next. Imo, a dose of "common sense" wouldn't hurt the gameplay.
edit: I'm not saying he should have been able to warp away either. I'm saying there must be a more intuitive solution - in this case and many others (hello timers...). - In simplistic terms it has been said that there is enough Zero Point Energy in the volume the size of a coffee cup to boil away EarthÆs oceans. |

Not according to my dictionary. Quinary = of the fifth rank, or otherwise relating to the number 5 (including your definition). Quintary = N/A. Anyway…

The HIC bubble states that it prevents jump drive operation. Supercaps are otherwise immune to ewar, but I assume (not a capital pilot, so forgive me if I am wrong) you could try and cap out dreads and carriers that aren't sieged to try and prevent them from jumping. ---

Hey, I like it.
Just scram the Jump Bridge and the whole fleet is unable to use it.
Very elegant, I'm sure this idea will gain sweeping support (from the janitorial staff).
