This is a perfect opportunity to discover how much more profitable 0.0 ratting is than mining!

If static rocks have been removed, then this will do HUGE things to ore prices (and thus everything else in-game), not to mention ratting for modules & sec status. Plus piracy, too.
I need to think about this some more, because while it seems really really risky given the downside, I think it has a potentially huge upside. --

not really, mining in static belts is the backbone of the econamy, without it there will be HUGE inflation on everything

Static belts are the belts in any system (static means they dont move, unlike gravimetric sites, which arnt static)

It has been stated that up to 40% of minerals come from reprocessing, so mining might provide a little more, but not much.

And in any case, I'd say the majority of market items are made by manufacturers ---------- EVE Markets - global price trends at your fingertips |

As a manufacturer, I strongly prefer to get my minerals via the market (usually with buy orders). I can't think of anything more boring than mining -- even POS bashing would be more fun. --

Would the fact that the server pop is still over 50K mean that macro miners are either grinding missions or there aren't as many macro miners as it would appear there are?
I thought without the belts, the pop would drop but it seemed to increase.

But how would you have gotten all that phat L3/sL4 mission loot to smelt without miners mining the minerals needed to make your BS/BC?
Quick! Blob the L3 in our noob ships!! Only 35x more and we could build a drake!

I've always thought it'd be a really cool job, to be the guy who gets to write all the really unpopular blogs, balance changes and just generally be the 'comms guy, that everyone hates'. Personally, I'd go with CCP Schadenfreude.
I'd even telecommute :)
