- The Communications Minister Stephen Conroy is the one proposing Australian Internet Censorship.
- The legislation for Australian Internet Censorship has not been passed yet and thus the "Great Firewall of Australia" cannot be implemented yet.
- EVE Online does have a rating with the OFLC. It is rated PG Gaming experience may change online; Mild violence.
- Michael Atkinson is the person solely responsible for the lack of R18 ratings for games
- Michael Atkinson attempted and actually had a law passed that would require people posting on elections to post with their real name and post code. It has since been repealed. Link to AdelaideNow article

Dearest America,
We'll see you your crazed anti-game activist (Jack Thompson) and raise you one crazed anti-game politician (Michael Atkinson). I think we win.
Sincerely,
Australia.

Seems currently we are going corporate or socialist. This isnt a democracy anymore. Hasent been for a long time.
Technically, it's a democratic republic and always has been. AFAIK there are nho true democracies anywhere in the world (a true democracy being defined as one where the citizens are the ones voting on changes to laws, rather than electing someone to do it on their behalf). --Vel

I hear they make an improved ballot paper in lead for those situation...

Hmm, I can't imagine why any government would want to block a site where people publicly advocate assassinating politicians and attorneys-general. They should just send cops to your door to investigate posts like that, like they do in the US.

I noticed the rating only mentions the mild violence, and not the drug use. Lets hope they don't notice all of the boosters and market drugs in this game.
As a late night Seattle player I see a lot of Australians flying around and I hope that doesn't change. TBH I don't see how you guys can remain so calm while taking it in the can from your government. I'm really sorry your missing out on some really great games. Probably pads some piracy number amirite? ~/~ Sultan of Buruni |

Quote: In 2004 Mr Atkinson told South Australian Parliament that bikies had used a park barbeque in his electorate to "cook a cat for human consumption". He was later forced to apologise. The animal was not a cat, the incident happened at another location and bikies weren't involved.
