Bug report page tells me some bugs I reported will be "Fixed in: Planetary Interaction". As those are simple bugs, one could expect "Planetary Interaction" to be the next big update to the client... |

I really hope not. I read somewhere that theres going to be T3 Frigates.
Originally by: Genya Arikaido Ambulation / WiS / Incarna has been promised as the "winter" expansion for 3? 4? years now? At this point, I just want closure so I can feel content with the game as it is now. Sick of being led on...
Only 42 years......
Yes, T3 frigates are a strong possibility for the next expansion.
No, Incarna has never been given a firm release date, let alone "promised" to be in a winter expansion. All that has been mentioned is that it will come AFTER planetary interaction (for obvious reasons), and that planetary interaction will likely be in the next expansion.
People have a tendency to present their personal expectations as fact on these boards.

Wasn't industry overhaul meant to be T3? *shrugs*
I just remembered, T3 frigs were mentioned at FanFest '09, not here, so maybe not in THIS expansion..... This is my sig, stop reading. |

No. This game is about pvp. Player versus player. This game is social, and it is about defeating you, or any other player. Whether that is done by shooting you (general you) in the face, or paying someone (or a hundred someones) to shoot you in the face is beside the point.
It's social. It's pvp.

No kidding. All we get are devblogs on the Haiti tomfoolery. Want to really help Haiti? Plan your vacations there and buy Haitian products. Build their economy, don't give them freebies. This is a game, use the game to talk about the game.

Excellent idea.
Of course at the moment many of their hotels are currently mass graves (which tends to cut down on tourism) and their local production now centers around trying to keep those that survived the earthquake alive a little longer (providing little things like food, water, and some sort of medical care).
It's an interesting perspective on the world you have, when emergency aid after a catastrophic natural disaster is considered "giving them a freebie".
Seriously, if people want to and can afford to help someone out who seriously needs help to survive, more power to them. If you can't or don't want to, keep your yap shut. It's not hurting you in the slightest.

You realize that there was an earthquake there and over 200 thousand people died? There are about a million people homeless and dead bodies are rotting in the streets. I'm not sure visiting and buying stuff from gift shops (if there are any that are still intact) is really going to help them much at this point.
If they were just one of the poorest countries in the world (which they are) and were otherwise okay, I would agree, but I think they have problems beyond just being poor that at the moment.

I'm willing to bet there will be plenty of things that make it competitive with another space/science fiction MMO from a popular science fiction genre, which has walking around in environments, of which I will not mention by name because it is so fail that even uttering it would cause my head to cave in and my heart to explode. This whole year will be geared towards preping EVE for dust and Incarna.
There will be little things added to stop us moaning about lack of content, but dont expect alot.
Dust is a joke, it should be in eve, but why give people more than one type of gaming for there subs, when you can make moar money from the console market (silly people who buy a new game every month coz console games have a playability life of 1-2 months).
Incarna is a cruel joke on the player base who will be used to TEST the new engine and netcode, not to add something new to eve thats lacking, if that were the case, why stop at walking in stations and let people walk about on planets and ships? you can already exclude planets because of DUST, and ships why bother everyone knows we live in an egg in our ships (and dont say they will add that later because i for one am not willing to wait an other 4-5 years for it to be added).
All the resoures that have been wasted making Dust and Incarna should have been spent on making EVE and CCP the leader in MMO gaming instead they have opted for the cash in.
As CCP's new products come online do you think eve support and develpment wont suffer? do you really think EVE isnt suffering now?

Actually, prep work has been going on for 3+ years.
Quote: There will be little things added to stop us moaning about lack of content, but dont expect alot.
You mean little things like Planetary Interaction and T3 Frigates.
Quote: Dust is a joke, it should be in eve, but why give people more than one type of gaming for there subs, when you can make moar money from the console market (silly people who buy a new game every month coz console games have a playability life of 1-2 months).
Attempting to bring a FPS into the EVE would be significantly harder to do than developing it for the console. Planetary Interaction will bring a different type of gaming to EVE, as will the content in Incarna. When did making more money become a bad thing? CCP is trying to bring something new to the console market on a number of levels, including longevity.
Quote: Incarna is a cruel joke on the player base who will be used to TEST the new engine and netcode, not to add something new to eve thats lacking, if that were the case, why stop at walking in stations and let people walk about on planets and ships? you can already exclude planets because of DUST, and ships why bother everyone knows we live in an egg in our ships (and dont say they will add that later because i for one am not willing to wait an other 4-5 years for it to be added).
Incarna was going to be developed anyway for WOD (newsflash: CCP is a game development company, not just an EVE development company). In case you haven't noticed, EVE actually DOES lack a first person perspective currently. You may very well have a cabin on your ship, unless plans have changed. We'll have to see how things go before we talk about more than stations. PS: Nobody asked you to wait for a feature you apparently see no value in.
Quote: All the resoures that have been wasted making Dust and Incarna should have been spent on making EVE and CCP the leader in MMO gaming instead they have opted for the cash in.
CCP and EVE already are leaders in the MMO industry, and soon look to become leaders in the gaming industry as a whole. Those "resources" would have been allocated to other games, this way we reap the benefits. Sorry you can't see that. They never claimed that EVE would be the only product that they would ever develop, and would have been foolish to do so.
Quote: As CCP's new products come online do you think eve support and develpment wont suffer? do you really think EVE isnt suffering now?
The only "issues" EVE is suffering from currently were due to bugs in the latest expansion. Its happened before and will happen again, regardless of other projects.
I have to give you points though. It's rare to see so much fail packed into a single post.

Yeah, I'm with you.
I have no idea why people want Incarna and why CCP does either. I think it is a dangerous mis-adventure for CCP taking them away from what they do best which is make a pew pew spaceship game. This incarna BS is just an expensive and time wasting exercise to placate whining carebears if you ask me.

Hmm, lets see. We start with planetary interaction to give the eve side of the dust influanced sov equation time to build up the infrastructure that we will then fight over when incarna/dust hits later this year or early next. Though I'm going to bet it will be the next expansion after Tyrannis unless they have some sort of bug fix/code refining expansion with limited new content for after this one which tbh would be my preferred choice if there are still serious flaws to work out after PI hits.

I didn't see "fixes" mentioned at all - he talks about "optimizations and improvements" and fleet fight lag in a paragraph and you've interpreted that to be fixes. He doesn't acknowledge any bugs by saying there will be fixes; only says in Developer speak that some stuff might get done that might improve current issues - covering his ass so people can't nail it to the wall when he/they can't deliver.
Realisticly, they'll undoubtable fix some bugs and introduce a shedload more.

I was a software tester for a few years so I'm probably more suspicious than most when I read wishy-washy developer comments. Because comments like "optimizations and improvements" in their Devspeak language could mean for example: removing a shader setting.
He'd never say "fixing this bug X or that bug Y" because well that firstly acknowledges code errors, and secvondly ties them to a specific task/deadline that they can then be accountable for if they fail to deliver that fix.
If you dont comprehend that then you've probably never done UAT or worked in the IT industry.
