I mean white text on black BG is sooooooooooooo "my first webpage". Please tell me I'm overlooking some secret setting somewhere. I'm looking at this on an lcd whincing, I think looking at it on a CRT would explode your head. -------------------------------------------------- I'm so Old I can remember when QQ was TT

Light-on-dark is actually the best colour scheme to look at. It's quiet and relaxing, even on a CRT. What do you want, black on white? blue on yellow? green on pink? Ouch.

I'm a developer, and I always have to customise my IDE colour schemes to make it light on dark... usually slightly off-white on black. Whilst most of my collegues disagree, personally I find this much more comfortable; the other way round leaves me with a splitting headache at the end of the day. To me it stands to reason that light on dark is easier on the eye - since on average the picture you're looking at is darker, with only the bits you're interested in highlighted. I'm sure there are perfectly plausable counter-theories. Anyway, imo the color scheme of the Eve forums isn't that bad... its the functionality that needs an update!

I always use light gray or white on black when I have the choice, especially when programming. You must be viewing it in a really bright room with lots of glare or something is the only thing I can think of. So I think the problem is on your end.

I have some slight colorblindness issues, so I'm actually sensitive to poor graphic design/contrast, but this layout doesn't bug me at all -- I find it aesthetic and functional.

You're overlooking the fact that screens are not paper. It's a long established fact of UI design that light text on a dark background causes less eye strain (and uses less power, though that is a side effect) than dark text on a light background. Also, it looks fine on my LCDs at work and at home.

Okay sure I could always adjust my monitor settings, which I have done to some degree btw, but in the end this is what makes a good UI / color scheme. Either customizable or not straining the eyes. So I'm all for the light on dark, although I personally prefer either very dark grey-ish backgrounds that are almost black. Yeah and some more functionality would be more important stuff like a good search engine, an integration of the ingame mail system to double as PM's and an integration of the buddy list to find your “special friends” latest whines more quickly would be cool for a start. ----------------------------- OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!
