Originally by: Ein Spiegel There are some interesting fits here. Although I prefer high initial alpha over sustained DPS.
[Corsair, Alpha]
Low Slots
1600mm Rolled Top Boots Adaptive Woolen Leggings II
Mid Slots
British Navy Greatcoat Black Pirate Shirt II 'Hempen' Deck Rope
High Slots
'Arbalest' Blunderbuss, French Navy Shot 'Caribe' Cutlass 'Engraved India' Flintlock, Carbonized Lead
Rig Slots
Jolly Roger I Magnum Powder Charge I
Drones
2 x Boarder I
You have to use some faction and named items to fit both firearms, while the lows provide some buffer as well as protection against slipping on blood soaked decks. The mids provide some ewar and the tackle I've noticed lacking in other fits. Strategy is to be bold, brassy, and try to get close to your target. Draw them in with a false, friendly look, then tackle with the rope and unleash the devestating alpha of your blunderbuss. Finish your target with your other weapons, and if necessary use your boarders to provide an extra boost. With damage rigs as shown, you should get most of your damage done in the initial volley.
Yarr, this be a survivable solo gank fit, and has options for crew engagements as well. Remember to scoop yer booty.
Interesting fit, but does yer corsair get a bonus to both the blunderbuss and the flintlock pistol? Might want to consider using the same weapon types for maximum gank.
Also confirming monkeys are fairly overpowered. What's the best way to counter them? Can't stand when an enemy captain gets away by pulling out his monkey.

I'm disappointed...
Not a single fit with the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free high slot utility mod: Silver Tongue II. (Tech II gives better bluff % over meta 4 forked tongue)
Stay away from too many redrum boosters though, you'll want your wits about you and too much rum will counter the effects.

Without good charisma, the skills for that take a long time to train up, so most don't bother even skilling for it. TBH the Wenching V prereq is still pretty useful on its own and takes you halfway there anyway.

Dont forget boosters guys.
Strong Grog Booster - Increases your chances for "Shiver me Timbers" wrecking shots.
Also, for long trips, dont forget:
Strong Citrus Booster - A good counter to the lasting effects of Scurvy.

Eah. I think people who rely on rum charges too much are usually overly tanked.

Edited by: Jennahia Fox on 04/03/2010 12:48:10 This a bit expencive setup as many are officer mods, and needs skills on Level 5... but totally worth the Yarr..
Low Slots
Bloody Leatherstrap Boots II Caribean Leatherpantaloons Davy Jones' Locker
Mid Slots
Edward Teachs Hairy Chest Edward Teachs Black Beard (for epic tank) Tortugas RedRum Injector (with 80oz RedRum boosters) (to keep the beard wet).
High Slots
Jolly Roger's Flag Eye Patch II Caribbean Red Bandana Silver Earring II
Rig Slots
Davy Jones' Walking Plank Pirate Lizard with tiny eyepatch (I know - cost like hell, but totally worthit, specially usefull when catching wenches)
Dronebay
4 x Rabid Ferret II 4 x Mohawk Skunk (if you need to jampowa).
You need at least these skills to fit everything: Epic Monkey Business V, Nasty Pirate Pets V(for drones) Savvy Pirate Blingbling V Savvy Pirate Beard V Savvy Pirate Chest Hair IV (you can manage with L4 if you have Beard at V)
It's a bit ***** to fly as you need to keep the rum flowing all times while making sure that the earring doesn't get caught in the beard, but boy it's fun. Some might arque the Skunks are not for "real pirates", but they will deffinitely save you if you get blobbed and make enemies go WTF. You can also change the Bloody Leatherstrap Boots II to Rotten Pegleg II for better Yarr for the cost of speed. Also - I don't like the hooks as I usually just end up taking my own eye out.

This fitting is really no longer valid. You NEED to fit either a Chinese VPN or Russian Botnet to be viable these days, especially since just about everyone fits Government Internet Monitoring or DMCA Takedown Notices loaded with Amoral Lawyers.
At the very least, replace the Office Chair with Piggyback Neighbor's WiFi.
The Blank Sony DVDs aren't good either. The range is lame, especially when you can use the T2 Archival Quality DVDs.

Total Lolfit?
Srsly, Corsairs are meant to be fast and have a 5% speed enhancement per level. 1600mm Rolled top boots will slow you to a crawl which is fine if you fit the Rhum II mod and the æSaucyÆ Wench I (heavy on the Dubloon usage). Your midslot looks good but the Greatcoat will just dampen your agility. Nice touch with the Black Pirate Shirt II and æHempen Deck Rope though. Boarder or Monkeys is a tossup depending on timing.
Here is what I would fit:
[Corsair, Alpha]
Low Slots
æAgeanÆ Cotton Sails I Ironwood Rudder II
Mid Slots
Black Pirate Pant II Black Pirate Shirt II 'Hempen' Deck Rope, Grapling Hook
High Slots
VXI Rigging Disruptor II 'Engraved India' Flintlock, Carbonized Lead Light Cutlass II
Rig Slots
Jolly Roger I Magnum Powder Charge I
Drones
2 x Spider Monkey II

Edited by: Dresine on 05/03/2010 02:30:55 To be a real pirate you need to equip the old skull and crossbones flag in a high slot to drain the bravery of any affected souls. Really surprised that no one is running the flag in their fits to be honest.
And when you really need the extra cargo space you could always go the wooden, iron, or steel treasure chests in the low slots depending on your level and available gold.
Epic thread btw. Anyone seen the OP?

I use a very similar fit to those above, however I've replace the 'Large Red Overcoat II' for a 'Rusty Cutlass II'.
This is a good idea, but watch out for the terrible optimal of the Rusty Cutlass. Fit a grappling hook or something. Great damage when you get into range though.
This is why I definitely would be against using rusty cutlass' when fitting peg legs. It's just too slow of a fit to be useful --------------------- Creator of another Mining Calculator |

Ive heard a double Wench 'Spanking' gives you at least 1 minute distraction on the monkey, ample escape time.

All of the above are decent fittings. However, after sucessful raiding, some pirates feel like showing how much booty they earned and want everyone to see how rich they are!
[Pirate, I am rich]
Stoertebeker's Modified Pegleg 'Mutineer' Knee-length Boot Dutch A-Type Black Trousers
Captain Flint's Modified Bottle o'Rum, Rum Charge 60% 'Fleet Issue' Black Pirate Shirt Captain England's Modified Overcoat
Morgan's Modified Eye Patch Royal Navy Spy Glass Long John Silver's Modified Musket, Lead Charge M
This fittings gives a huge advantage over plain Tech 2 fits! Feel free to swap the Musket out for a Long John Silver's Modified Cutlass or similar if you want to fight at close ranges. The 'Mutineer' Boot is in there because officer boots are incredibly rare. Seems they all got lost when the captains sank with their ships...a pity.

I have to say that I disagree with fitting only cutlasses on a pirate, I always fit at least 1 X flintlock II, the range is betetr than a cutlass, slightly lower dps, but if you can stay out of enemy cutlass ranges thats fine.
I also, always, always go for the monkey I rig, I find parrots almost no use for unlocking shackles when tackled... Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |
