Do you think (like there was in RL) there will be a population explosion in EvE where from 50k online you get massive 750k within one expansion most likely incarna or w/e its called.
I know games arent always epic with 'more people' but other than lagg being insane and Jita haveing 50k people in it (oh boy imagine the local spam) what would change, do you think the game would be better with more players or the same as what it is now.
Or would this just mean bigger blogs, more griefing and universal market changes FIRST!! |

It would mean a LOT more whining. It would mean more threads why you can't grind yourself to max level. It would mean a lot more threads asking for more PvE. More people => more mainstream

Well, I expect a larger than normal influx of new players joining EVE when Incarna goes live, and you finally can create a avatar of flesh and blood. Although I doubt we will see such an increase as you mention. It is however possible the total playerbase will increase from 300k+ to 350k-400k over some month, with a flood of complains coming toward the forums when they learn how harsh the game is. When that happens I hope CCP will be strong and resist their whinging.

Just start telling people (like.. start now) when they ask about stuff (hang out in help channel to do it) - "Oh, everyone does business in ___random system____, that's eve's big trade hub"
New kid population / jita lag crisis averted?

Guess you guys arent aware why Jita was popular in the first place, you can convince and trick everyone to go other places but Jita will always still be the popular place of trade.

A really good TV commercial would probably do it. I think now people see the Eve banners on the net along with all the dating services and muscle pills and think of Eve as cheap crap like that.

Edited by: Zartrader on 20/02/2010 18:12:03 There will be influxes but most MMORPG players have at least heard of EVE. Unfortunately many misunderstand it too (thanks to the fail players who blame the mechanics and post about it)
I hope EVE gets more popular as that means more cash for development and bug fixing. But I also hope CCP do not cave in to those who think any game style other than WOW's is not valid. I do trust CCP though, unlike other devs who seem to be *****s to their marketing department.
EDIT: CCP your forums settings suck, why change my default when I create a new player? And even when I change it back it fails? Dumb dumb dumb.

CCP would probably quadriple TQ in size, not only will there be new factions and new empire space but also more nullsec.
If the playerbase triples, so does space have to, otherwise it will become way too crowded.
Also an alternative will have to be made for Jita because otherwise it will get flooded. But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

But don't change the volume of moons for more players, because spreading the wealth is BAD.
I'm also forming up an Eve political party called the "Financial Separatists" if any well off influential people would like to join me in keeping the poor poor, send me an in game mail.

Even in hi-sec there's still quite a bit of unused space. Maybe if things start really filling up in empire, more people will want to start claiming some space of their own.

Well it is a common error to assume people all flooded Jita / caldari space by chance because everyone likes missile boats since they are good for missions FIRST!! |

One way to make other regions compete with Jita is to have it easier to transfer goods between regions and be able to search other regions in game (using alts is a pain and limiting) This may be game breaking though.
More players may allow other trade hubs to get sufficient critical mass which may solve the issue anyway.
Prices in Jita are not the issue it's the turnover that players need.

Making it easier to buy your stuff from Jita even if you live far away from it, is not going to make Jita less popular. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |
