Firstly, thanks for the opportunity to participate and help - it was a blast.
Machine Info
* Which test you were in: August 19th * OS version: Win7 64-bit * CPU: Intel Quad Q8300 2.5 GHz * GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 * RAM: 4GB
User Experience (only running a single client)
* Did you have Audio enabled? Yes (good sound (instructions - and just a little appropriate cussing - when his fleet attack his spawns!)from FleetW FC * Did you have brackets turned on? No * Average FPS during the test(s) Not good. Outside the test solar systems, 50-60 fps. As soon as I jumped in it dropped to 30 (just like when I run multiple clients). I have a (sorry) graph from the monitor of the fps in fleets, which goes down to about 0.2fps during conflict.
* Did you notice any desyncs during the test? - If by desync you mean the client froze for a long period then yes, mutliple times. If you mean the client actually failed, then yes (this happened just as I was warping out from conflict 3) - I was podded. I got a window saying CCP ExeFile has stopped working. I just hope that "CCP ExeFile" isn't referring to one of your colleagues!
* On a scale of 1-10, how would you compare FPS and performance between this test and TQ? (1=way worse, 5=same, 10=OMG this is awesome) I also have not been in large fleet flights on TQ, so cannot compare. I can say it was orders of magnitude worse than my previous fleet experiences. Awesome viewing though!
* Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.: This was my 1st mass-test, and I'll be happy to participate again. A few notes: 1) I had the Monitor running the whole time - and have the graph of fps / cpu utilization. FPS definitely deteriorated on entry into the test solar system (50/60 -> 30) and was probably acceptable during fleet warps and positioning. During the battles it rapidly deteriorated to circa 0.2fps and from the graph it definitely got worse over the 3 conflicts. I took regular screenshots during the test (showing the monitor), but I don't know if you would be interested in these.
2) It took sometimes up to 20-30 seconds after the FC verballised a new target for the broadcast to appear in the overview. This meant that by the time I could lock target it was often just a wreck.
3) I enjoyed the test - it is tough to co-ordinate so many players of varying skill. I think there would be value in encouraging loyal support of the testing initiatives so people become familiar with the techniques required.
4) I moved my medical clone to 2X-PQG and prepared a spare ship in case I got podded, but when I attempted to rejoin the fleet, I could not find it in the fleetfinder. Before during and after the test, I never found a single fleet in the finder. Might be a thought to choose the main conflict solar system as one with medical facilities if you want the number of testers to remain high across all tests.
5) Gate jump 1: had to issue the jump request twice and wait more than a minute and to jump. Subsequent aligned fleet warp was smooth.
Let me know if you want the monitor screenshots.
Best of luck with this huge IT challenge - it is worth the effort!
