The drops as they are now allow all mins that are stacked together to either get dropped, or blown up (most of the time at least). Couldn't they be treated as individual items and have some drop and some destroyed?
For example, I was flying around FA last night and came accross an indy.
2004.11.26 07:51:00
Victim: XXXXXXXX Corporation: Resurrection Destroyed Type: Bestower Solar System: UAYL-F System Security Level: 0.0
Involved parties:
Name: tekforce (laid the final blow) Security Status: -0.6 Corporation: Spartan Industrial Manufacturing Ship Type: Crow Weapon Type: Bloodclaw Light Missile I
Destroyed items:
Type: Megacyte (Cargo) Quantity: 31365
Type: Zydrine (Cargo) Quantity: 74724
Plus a whole lot of useless stuff. The only thing I got worthwhile was 555 morphite.
You can imagine my discomfort that all the good stuff went pop. With 105k seperate items there would have at least been some of it that could fall out. With the current setup if is stacked it all stays or all goes.
Opinions?

It makes sense to me. You get lucky or you don't.
If you want to ensure you keep the goods, you could try getting the guy to eject or something.
There should really be a board / salvage ship option once your targets hull gets to 10% or something but theres not heh

Well, you never know if it is a good indy or not. I have popped around 30 of em in the fountain region my last few trips, and most of the time you get crap mixed with the occasional good expander.
It is a waste of time trying to get someone to eject if they have good cargo, they just won't do it. As someone said in another post they are intergalactic pinatas. But if you kill a ship with 500 mil worth of stuff in it, I think more than 10 mil of loot should drop.
I do like the board ship idea though

Well, I've noticed on the wheel command ring that there is a "Board" command for ships, any idea what that is?

Originally by: Acturon Well, I've noticed on the wheel command ring that there is a "Board" command for ships, any idea what that is?
It is for boarding ships that do not have a pilot. Example, go out of a station in your newb ship and eject. You are now in a pod and you can board any ship that you have the skills to fly and is currently without a pilot. It works wonders when you find safespots :-)
Oh and a word of caution to those that use safe spots to keep ships "in the field". I found another Apoc today, but unfortunet it is, I do not fly anything other than Caldari so it remains in the location. The scanner kicks ars now, so do NOT leave your ships floating in spac Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

are you refering to Tek as being a n00b to 0.0? HAHA check his info bro - he's been in Spartan industrial for a while and Spartan Industrial has been in CA for a long time now - check your sources before you post on stuff you know nothing about.
oh and if you weren't talking about Tek then my bad

LOL, I think he was referring to the guy in the bestower. Apparantly, I have been told that it was a corp theft which makes sense since there was so much crap in the indy.
This has happened to me numerous times though, and is just so frustrating. Killed a noob ship a couple of months ago with 40 mil in zy in it, and none dropped. Maybe I am just unlucky.
I don't think complaining about this is going to change anything, CCP has thier hands full as it is.
P.S. I am a noob I still get the shakes and sweaty hands every time I jump into the evil and dangerous 0.0 So if I am in your space, please don't shoot me. Chances are I got lost and am just sightseeing

Logical yes... but then create a module that wires the cargo to implode if the ship gets dested.
In reality such devices would be created, afterall we dont want to suport the ebil terrorists praying on the feeble haulers.
I know I would equip all my haulers with cargodestroying modules for every trip.
Anyhow, as is you ither get very lucky (get the whole stack) or life is status quo (all is lost).
Works fine for me :)
