I agree. At the moment, graphically speaking on turrets vs. launchers:
Launchers are over power because I do not get to zoom up on said ship, and count how many launchers. I do this so as a poor mans ship scanner.
I want to know the odds of them having neuts, cyno, etc fitted.
So in closing, yes, add launcher hard point graphics.

I agree.
I've played for years (with breaks) and this always bothered me about the missiles. This should cover torps too. When I hop in my ratting Raven to slum it (cuz Amarr is better la~) I want to see freakin Ravens with torpedo launched strapped to the spider leg looking wings.

This idea has been mentioned to death over the lifespan of Eve. CCP have said time and time again that missile platform ships have their launchers built into the model; even if they're not using them.
Would be nice, but it might require a lot of work. When people wanted the Naglifar to drop a launcher for another turret slot (and there not being any space for one), CCP said it would take something like months of work to redo the model.

I can find a lot of areas where i could put a hardpoint for a missile launcher on missile boats, but even if the launchers were static it would be nice to see the missile originating from that launcher instead of the center of the ship
just change the animation so the launch smoke come from each launcher (maybe a little smaller) and the missile appears from that area of the ship
(the launchers on the manticore and drake look pretty cool, they just need to have missiles coming from them)

it is not just pretty, turret users can be "scanned" by look at, why not missile users?

I think this would be a fantastic idea. I was in a nighthawk last night thinking about it actually. I don't think it would be too much trouble since most Caldari ships have turret hard points already on most of their models, just a matter of implementation in those places.
I don't think they'd have to necessarily turn but it would be cool to see a missile shot from the front of the ship and fly up and over your ship to hit a target behind you.
OR, you could have missiles attached to the wings of the ship and simply just fly off the side and have a reload animation where another one just drops down into place.
Either way i'd be happy :)

Since the number of new posts not mine in this thread has been dropping, ill add a few more ideas into the mix.
If you look at the picture of regular assault launchers, they already look like they could just be thrown onto a ship and track targets.
There are a lot of nooks and spaces where you could hide a missile "hardpoint", such as the belly and top of a raven or the sides of a maelstrom
The missile animation would not have to change, just the position that the animation appears at relative to the ship. This would make missile combat more plausable as the missiles would not magically appear from the cetner of the ship. (launching missiles from the cargo bay cannot be very safe)
dread missile bays need to move like other dread weapons.( at least i think so)

Actually this idea exists like for 6 years. It's good.
And just like most good ideas it keeps ignored by CCP for years. You can look at turret ship and say what kind of turrets it uses, and they's caliber. The look of the missile launchers actually minding that's they are also turret based weapon, and should have they's own uniq look. But this creating alot of work for moddelers to modify most of ship models to add missile hardpoints.
So i think unfotrunutly there won't be "missile turrets" any time soon. :( ________________ Recon and Intercept

Missile launchers aren't like the icon for the module, they're like sub torpedoes.

Why not extend this idea to all high-slots.
Neuts, NOS, cloaks, tractor beams, salvagers, ... all need to be visible from the outside of the ship.
All the programming should already be done as they should work exactly as turrets do.

Edit #2: If this would cause huge lag issues, have a spherical type barrier around the ship where missiles would converge into the current launcher effect after being fired from separate launchers
side note: i wonder how many new views i would get it if this thread was marked blue?

As a dedicated missile-slinger, I have always been bothered by the lack of launcher graphics on missile ships. I have never liked missiles spawning from the center of my ships when fired. A static launcher hardpoint would be sufficient, since missiles track targets themselves. Having missiles appear from actual launchers would be great, and certain ships (like the Drake) already have what appears to be missile hardpoints on them. I would love to see launcher graphics on my missile ships.
