So I've been having fun finding and doing combat sites and getting Sanshas and Centii loot. How can I find out what is a fair price for a contract and where to put it so that someone will buy it? (I'm in Derelik, not near one of the major hubs, would it be worth it to put them up in this region?)

If you set the contract range to all regions, and check what contracts are out for the same items you have, you will get a decent indication.

Did that, figured it's like the market where people put up stuff at ridiculous prices where no one will buy it except if they misread or misclick. Even worse when there's not as much supply. But are available contracts really a good indication of fair prices? The problem is, I really can't estimate the worth of these items.

sometimes it is a good way sometimes it isn't, only way to find out is put up a contract and see if it sells.
and moving it to a hub is usually a good way to get it to sell quickly, but sometimes you can get a better price elsewhere. but I'd say that also really depends on demand for that item.
or you can always put up an auction starting bid at 1mil.

Good option might be to find someone doing the same thing you're doing, who's been doing it for longer, and then just ask 'em. If you don't have any corpmates or somesuch for this, there's a couple of in-game channels for explorers you could join, where someone's sure to know the answer Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie |

Another option is to do a price check on the market discussion forums. Just list the item and ask for people to value it. ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog

I saw you down in Derelik the other day; it was my home until yesterday
The problem with Derelik (as you'll see if you spend long enough there) is that it has a skewed market. Things can be hard to find and are normally much more expensive. If I were you, I'd head up to Rens and sell from there; thee's a much bigger audience.

Also check the item comparison window for the items above and below the one you are trying to sell.
For example: on an AB sort by the velocity boost, on a shield booster sort by the shield boost amount, etc.
Check the prices of those items, and price yours accordingly.

Edited by: Ikserak tai on 02/03/2010 19:57:40 Put the name of the item in "Item Description" under contracts. In the area window to the far left, select "All Regions". Click "Find Contracts" on your far right.
You then have a number of listings, all are either "Item Exchange" or "Auction". Check the prices under "Item Exchange". This will give you a good indication as to what the market is currently selling that particular item at. "Auction" prices are usually lower, a minimum as to what the seller will accept.
You can then select your region, and hit "Find Contracts" again, to see what the item is selling for in your region. If there are very few or no items available, you can either peg your price at the level you found in "All Regions" or bump it up a bit since the item is somewhat rare where you are.
Lastly, you can go to a heavier populated region and put it on contract there. More buyers means a quicker sale.
Faction mods sell for tens of millions of Isk. Believe the prices you see, there are buyers who can afford this stuff...

Actually, I'd recommend NOT using "Item Description" but use "Item Type (Exact)" instead. "Item Description" will only give you contracts that people filled out the description, and also opens you up to scam contracts that people "described" one way but are actually something else. "Item Type (Exact)" does not have this problem and only lists contracts with exactly that item in them. ---

Edited by: Necronous on 03/03/2010 20:15:22 This stuff just needs to be on Market ... really. I tend to hoard Factional parts that have no "history" (i.e. almost never have contracts up)
Edit: Oh, and COSMOS stuff too. Those are few and far between.

This would make the Market list much longer, thus a) making searching it for the item you want be more of a ***** and b) slowing down one of the already slower-loading essential features of EVE even more.
Also, it would make it much harder for scammers to make a living. So I'm pretty sure CCP aren't gonna make it happen. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie |
