For those who are active duty military (any branch any armed forces) and just looking for a place to talk, bs, etc the chat channel: US NAVY CHAT is open. Not expecting a huge response to this but getting a lot of people from the forward deployed guys here in Yokosuka. So especially if you are over here in Japan and looking for people in the same TZ as you join the channel. Look forward to seeing anyone show up.
V/R, Alexandr Kerensky.

Don't really see a problem with that. the channel started as one for my office at Yokosuka but thought I could expand it to include all military personnel.

Yeah I like the idea but you need to open it up to everyone (department wise) and even potentially discharged folk too.

Addendum: All discharged personnel welcome. However if you are one of those who had a bad time while in and only want to bad mouth the service you were discharged from.... please: DON'T. That said all branches welcome including those of non-US militaries. For now the channel is titled as it is mainly because the name wasn't taken. Hope that clarifies things a bit.

As long as they all accept that:
Navy > All.
Also, Go Navy ~ Beat Army. Marines: Because having sheep on board would be too obvious.

I'm sure any channel that potentially has officers/enlisted personnel of higher rank than yourself in it is going to be chock full of interesting and exciting conversation.

Heh, sub duty. I was TAD to OHIO for a short while, interesting time but not what I'd do for a living.

What if I'm not in the navy, or any branch of the armed forces, but dress up as a sailor on Fridays and touch my intimate areas whilst listening to Depeche Mode?

Wrong branch for Depeche Mode... That would be Air Force (any country!)
USN, GMG-1, 1980 - 1991.

What if I hated being in the army most of the time and couldn't wait to get out, but still look back at the good times I had stationed in Germany, and would recommend it to anyone? Honorable Discharge BTW

Then we probably made out at one of the clubs in San Diego (if you were ever there. I for one, preferred Bourbon Street and Kickers to Rich's for example).

Might have to join that channel. Got 2 veterancies under my belt right now (1 ended pre-maturely due to injury).
USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) - Forward Deployed ["Tip of the Spear"] 7th Fleet. Yokosuka, Japan 1999-2003 [Was over there when 9/11 went down and dealt with a bunch of... stuff. 2 War Zones within a year :/ on that ship]

I hear USN socks are extremely stiff after a long voyage, even though there's no such thing as a sailor that understands what starch is for, or how to apply it to clothing. C/D?

Since nobody noticed my joke earlier:
Q - Why does the Navy have Marines on their ships? A - Sheep would be too obvious.
