I bought it but am getting totally f'd in the a by it - I think it is revenge for me breaking my oath to never buy another EA game after all the crap I had with BF2142.
Basically everytime I got onto the server browser to try and find a game it disconnects me entirely from the internet so I have to unplug my homeplugs and reinsert them to get connected back again.
Any technical wizards know what this might be? Have the same problem with Team Fortress 2.

Not a ****y on that mate, but the EA servers ARE currently mostly down due to heavy server traffic.
The campaign is funny as hell though.

got it on pc with the highiest settings and its just fcking awsome,
imagine you running on this war zone you got building exploding around you granades going off tanks going past you, its like watching a action packed movie, i have yet to have a boring game,
i guess you just have to play it

Been playing it on PC (cause I'm not a console tard  ) and while it's great fun for a short burst of time it lacks depth to continue to be fun. The "stress" is much more due to walls breaking down which is cool, but being killed so easily means that 9 times out of 10 you go 1 for 1; if you get killed by someone you can almost bet that in the few seconds you follow your killer he'll go down as well (unless it's a lolsniper).
Bit too simplistic, not enough strategy involved. I mostly play as a medic and while that gets me mad points if there's at least *some* teamwork going on the game still lacks. It doesn't have the greatness of BF2 of 2142 even.

It's a lot of fun, but it's not as epic as BF2 
imo Aircraft are way too vulnerable for how rare they are, and the small maps often mean you can't position yourself properly either. They were killing machines in BF2 (I miss Jets too)

Got in a my first chopper today expecting BF2 controls and ended up ditching the thing on takeoff
Not as good as BF2 but its not bad.

Airplanes are the one thing I don't miss from previous Battlefields. Airplanes have in every single battlefield up to date been way, way too powerful in the hands of someone competent, and practically invulnerable. I got a killstreak of 32 in a F-15 in BF2 at one point.
Bad Company 2 is more focused on infantry combat - The vehicles are there to supplement that, not dominate it. I think it works very well. The maps are substantially smaller, more linear and enclosed than in BF2, though. I think almost everything else is better in BC2, however.

Some of the Conquest maps are quite open, but this tends to separate combat a bit too much I think, most of Atacama Desert can be desert(hurr)ed of combat unless you're in a chopper. Which me and my buddies tend to do and then go rob the enemy of theirs. A lot of pilots are still learning how to fly and I've still got the edge on them.

I really like Rush, very fun. And if you are good enough then you don't always go 1 for 1. Ive had one incident with my F2000 where I took on 3 guys because i was in cover and they weren't.
And sniping is very fun, especially when you get guys out of their choppers. Betcha didn't see that coming.
And even though noob-tubing is a lot weaker, it is still quite annoying in this game.
And Scar-L at short range = incredibly powerful.

Suprised someone said the medic is hard to level up. That class just bleeds XP. Drop some med packs near friendlies, revive anyone you see and shoot the crap from cover. One map I had barely any kills, but managed to dominate the scoreboard.
Engineer is a nice jack of all trades, but I prefer the AT4. The Blackhawk pilots aren't too happy when they see that missile streaking towards them with me guiding it.

Played since Beta, first time playing a BF/BC game and loving it.
The Carl Gustav has been a great deal of fun, and absolutely best for knocking down cover / killing people who think they're safe when behind walls - and aren't on the opposite side of the room! I never use a mounted MG, having blown away so many of them. Such a useful tool.
I usually only play on Hardcore, have recently being toying with the Neostead 2000, with the Slugs and Clip Expansion = pump action sniper rifle, silly but fun v.s. all the GOL Magnums I'm seeing lately. Especially when they rage at being counter-sniped.
Currently having a lot of fun with C4, I pretty much ignored it in favor of AT Mines until hitting rank 22 but have had great fun of late using the extra explosives upgrade with C4 to do everything from:
Two-man ATV suicide team: two players with C4 and extra explosives upgrade, load up the bottom-back of the ATV with C4. Roll up to the point in Rush, guy on the back can pop the C4 as soon as you hit the point, instant 50% or more damage to the M-COM. If someone is shot off it falls to the survivor to make it go pop! Two ATVs (and 4 tickets) to per point if it works first time.
* You can also load up a UAV like this, but you need a third person to pilot the UAV.
To,
Drive-by C4: Racing around Conquest maps solo in the Humvee/Armor Car, circling around tanks only to park right behind them, jump out behind an enemy tank and C4 them, then jump back into the Humvee/AC and go find another tank. Have taken four tanks in one game so far until they finally noticed what I was doing. AC was primary for rest of the game, lol.
Who needs AT Mines? - I've been using C4 to replace AT mines. Great to watch tanks roll down a street/obvious route nose-to-bum only for the entire street to erupt in fountains of soil and fresh scrap metal.
(Recommend the G3 with Magnum Rounds, usually play Assault to replenish my own C4 stocks)

Gotta love the Gustav, best way to get Elite multiple target patch and 5k points, I think it might get nerfed soon along with LMG's generally and maybe GL's, we'll see.
Currently the owner of 317 dog tags of which 253 are unique, one guy I carved up had 6 on him. 
Slice and dice mofo's, tho chasing the melee awards has caned my k/d ratio, and everybody here in Eve knows just how important that is amirite..

You need to get it for 360 bro. My buddies for the most part don't have PCs to handle Bc2 (I only just upgraded mine to be capable) and Battlefield is a game I'd always reccomend with friends, it's just that much better, so console version is fine with me. The only differences in the PC version are the server browser, integrated friends list, and a slightly higher player cap, which I didn't think was needed personally, but eh.
Oh, and if anyone is willing, anyone fancy posting up Gamertags or PSN names for some games? I've already had a few good games with LordSwift on the demo which were great fun.
