I was talking to a manager at my bank and he was looking at my account transaction history and he noticed the EVE monthly charge and said "So, you play EVE?". He turned out to be a former player, but hadn't played in a while.

The guy who installed my satellite television spotted the EVE icons on my desktop while he was fiddling with the cables; evidently he used to be a big part of Curse Alliance way back in the day but went back to WoW _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

Started uni, was talking to a guy, mentioned I play eve, told him my character name and he recognised me from the forums.
Also was out in a busy student bar in Manchester wearing my Guristas tshirt and guy came and asked if I played and what corp I was in etc.

I got spotted wearing this:

at work once by a former contract target. Nice guy. :) Haven't met anyone else who recognized it as being EVE-related and said anything to me, but often get comments on it in general. Most common one is to assume it's from "Donnie Darko".

Oddest place to meet some one who plays EVE?
I remember a story I saw on the forums once, about a guy who discovered at work that he had podded his boss the previous night when he was pirating. That has got to be pretty awkward, I would think. ----------

I was randomly playing EVE while deployed, and a guy in my unit goes 'Oh, you play eve too?' He'd been in my unit for about 6 or more months by that point so it was kind of interesting. A lot of military actively play EVE.

I nearly came in my pants...

I met my former roommates new boytoy whom was designed to **** off my other roommate (whom she was dating) and he happened to play EvE. I think he was part of PL, and really liked stealth bombers.
Anywho met him while I was helping move her stuff into his house. > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |

Was walking around in town while waiting for the bus and a guy who was trying to sell some sort of..lotion or whatever stopped me. Ofc since i have used to work with that i tend to have a lot of fun with them and just drag on a conversation. This combined with me being very bored and still having an hour to wait lead the conversation to drag on and turned out that he was an eve player as well :) He was cute to actually. Never met him again :) Phoibe Enterprises

Not exactly weird but I did have a near-miss on the train today! Spotted a bloke getting on the same train as me wearing a black EVE Online shirt. He ended up getting on the next carraige.
Would have been funny to distract him by holding up the E-ON magazine to my face that I was reading.
Other than that, never encountered any EVE players in real life.

I work in a salon, fella came in for a hair cut this week, he removed his coat to show a minmatar eve T-shirt. We had a yap about the game etc. Its the second time this has happened, I have a policeman that pops that played but has just given up the game recently, I still keep him up to date with all stuff going on in eve.
^^ Pretty much the only unplanned meeting of another EVE player I've ever had. ----- |

I was at wine tasting party and I met an ex player on EVE.
During the course of the night, we started to talk about EVE. He never got into the game because when he first started, the first time he went into lowsec he was ganked 4-1, so he pretty much ragequit over that.
..so naturally..
I started telling pirate stories packed with extra lopsided gank. Freighters, CNRs, Hulks in highsec, blah blah blah...
No lie, made him incredibly angry and shouting at the top of his lungs at me no less than three times that night from various stories. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

needless to say I used my backup email address for that assignment after I found that out.

Edited by: Sarajo on 16/03/2010 10:35:01 A year or so ago I was hanging out with some friends, some of which play WoW a lot. they were talking about some weird stuff that happened and they thought it sucked they could'nt do anything about it because of the weird pvp mechanics there are in that game.
During this conversation I was checking my characters on my iPhone with the capsuleer app and offhandedly mention something like 'you guys should play EVE instead, you can totally shoot everything there'. While they did'nt respond another dude (that i've known for ages) looks at me surprised and turns around his iPhone, which had capsuleer running on it. Fun ensued comparing our characters and habits.
edit: more better
