As a fashion book collector, i started to look back at them and scanning what i consider as clothes or general allure that could be used in incarna, dont look at the photo as a whole it's only suggestions sometime only for one element of the set, top only, accessory only etc etc Unfortunatly i mostly have only "woman" fashion stuff, then it's the only men clothes i could find so far :p i will continue to select stuff if overall reaction to this thread is positive. Theses 30 scan are the result of the checking of only about 0.2% of all the fashion book i have (professionnal runway catalog, vogue etc etc)
enjoy :)

What do those random outfits have in common with EVE? I really can't see it. Would probably cost CCP to much to make an agreement with all those top designers to use their outfits anyway.
And they're quite ugly tbh.

Don't troll for the sake of it post above me. Okay, fashion in EVE... EVE can take inspiration from designs in the real world but they'll probably have people make sure that none of it clashes with any copy right. I'm sure you'll get lots of 'fashion', but you won't be able to compare it to an RL example. I'm guessing that CCP might even hire a fashion designer for the process of making clothes in EVE so that they're all original designs. Hope this helps.

You will probably end up with overweight avatars wearing pink string vests, PVC shorts and trainers.
Such is the nature of eve players.

All i desire are a multitude of stockings/leggings and miniskirts. Couldn't care less about male fashion, as i'll be in first person view leering at female characters most of the time.

I think I read somewhere that they actually had commissioned designed from fashion designers. Some of those pics you posted certainly look like they could be from one of the EVE races.

While you might be annoyed i couldn't be happier. Unlike the economist position where circumstances are different and you cant apply RL models to everything. A fashion designer thinks up stuff like this on if not a daily then a weekly basis. You see it at various shows just how far out there some will go. But to give people an idea of what they SHOULD expect not what they hope for.
Minmatar: The most likely to be 'matrix'. Minmatar life style is not the prettiest of things. I wont expect their clothes to be either. On the other hand they will go with Stylish and Practical at the same time. Expect a fair bit of black with utilities and in some of the more pompus designs a full trench coat. Poise carries the clothes as much as the clothes carry the person. Minmatar capsuleers can be expected to fill out this setting very well.
Gallente: Pompus, high end, and difficult to gauge; the avatars you have to choose from say it all. If i were designing this based on what I've seen I'd use B5 Centari as a prototype and work off of that. Flowing cuts, incredible quality in fabric, a regal appearance that seems to fit just about anywhere.
Caldari: The most likely place to see business suits and Today's fashions in both male and Female business wear. In settings like this, you might see more than a few bond knockoffs. With people claiming Armani as a personal tailor. The business suit in this world would be significantly more high tech but those features would be rather subtle and go with the style. A view-plate on the inner wrist for starters. Glasses that give off data feeds, speakers within the collar, Those subtle hints of upper technology without sacrificing the look. [tangent] The glasses are actually probably only 5 years away at the most. I wouldn't be surprised to see other options as people begin to cyberize their lives. A person willing to put the time in could probably make a mint creating a suit that would be able to be dry cleaned and give its user wifi without requiring a blackberry or palmpilot. It would also be the ultimate in security measures...cant damage the clothes you could risk the data. Hard to steal as the person is WEARING them.... [/tangent]
Ammar. Now if there is a true challenge these guys are it. I cant quite tell you what to expect here. Sorry. This is why i'd want a fashion designer to make this work.

So, CCP can afford to hire a professional fashion designer, but they can't afford to pay an undergrad astronomy student to fix space?

Actually that must be pretty cool to be "allowed" to design stuff that is too exotic to sell in the real world.
Originally by: supertrollguy2 So, CCP can afford to hire a professional fashion designer, but they can't afford to pay an undergrad astronomy student to fix space?
Well, they already got someone to fix the planet-properties, so there's renewed hope of black space.

Edited by: Numance on 22/03/2010 08:28:16 Will try to post another batch this week i think that incarna will be very "social" the look will be very important, as we saw during fanfest the little Trailer that going out of the pod goo is rather an unpleasant moment (a mix between matrix wake up and Abyss spew out of breatheable liquid sequence)
Then capsuleer who are the elite of eve will certainly want to have good time and to Show off theyre statut amongst the "vulgus pecum" that populate EVE, doing so, wearing expensive/top designer cloth unless they are in secret mission :p
The hiring of fashion professionnal for this purpose is a very good news and it's mandatory to use what is used in our real world with transposition to eve context
that to avoid to have to choose between 50 set of clothes which would be of poor design ranging from matrix to gothic streatwar, and then having everybody looking the same
for thoses interested in fashion, unfortunatly the designed who was making the most eve friendly clothing, suicided a little month ago, Alexander Mcqueen http://www.ftape.com/media/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/AlexanderMcQueen-Online.jpg

Don't shoot the messenger dude, I'm only referring to stuff I saw in a fanfest video.
They hired a pro fashion designer, because when they got male game designers to design female AV costume, it was all tight leather and a little too much.
Didn't the devs mention they sent the planetary data to a university to have the astrophysics department give it the once over. Im surprised that nobody in CCP seems to have heard of the goldilocks zone...

IIRC the experience of the person in question is not so much in Fashion Design but in Costume Design. It's an important distinction, the two jobs being slightly different. A Costume Designer works within the creative vision of others and is much more suited to designing fashion within an existing framework (be it a play, movie or game). --

The 'goldilocks zone' idea has been all but abandoned, at least by anyone who's keeping up on things. We now know that life can exist in much more extreme conditions than we used to think, and atmospheres can also greatly affect temperatures of planets that are much further or closer to a sun.
