Posting to confirm that i will always keep my word on a ransom attempt (that, or you get refunded).
Before you ask, Yes, it's because someone with too much money for his brain won't pay the ransom. 60m seemed appropriate.

I ransom hulks for 75mil, more often than not if people actually accept my convo as I keep them in low structure they will agree to the ransom.
I guess it partly has to do with how you bring it and it also depends on the situation ofcourse. I don't always offer ransom but if I do I'll make sure that the situation is somewhat "defused" making it easier for my customer to think with a clear head.

Wrong. There are many corps that guarantee your ransom will be honored. Honoring ransoms is, after all, a good practice.

It's a roll of the dice to believe you though. There's no real punitive aspect to offering a ransom and breaking it. You could have pocketed his 60 million, blown him away, and been 60 mill even richer. You are asking someone to trust a person who blows up their ship for money, or just even to ruin their day.
Especially since suddenly ninjas is so big about the tear extraction. I don't plan to be flying that high value of a ship for a long time, but if I get caught by PvPers I just write off ship, and pod if need be.

a lot of pvp'ers will honor their ransoms. a lot of things i've seen happen is the the victim not understanding the terms and thinking they have diplomatic immunity to the entire corp or myself for whatever time limit they seem appropriate. IN REALITY all ransoms are just a one time deal, and it's a good move to gtfo of the vicinity asap.
a heads up tho, if you're flying in something full of goodies, and your attackers know this, expect that a lot of the lower ranks in corp are whining in vent about breaking the ransom for more profit. i feel like i'm shooting myself in the foot here, but it's usually a smart move to deny paying any ransom in these cases.

not hounoring ransoms is ghey imo
i gate camped everyday for 6 months plus with the united and we done at least 10 ransoms a day and everyone was honoured any mistakes or overpayments were corrected. there is proberly more corps that have the same honor if you are being ransomed just ask them for 2 mins to check the fourms that they are legit, if they refuse don't pay.
simple, threads like these will always get fourm alts posting crap because they got ramsomed at one point and are butt hurt.

Big, if he says he will, unless you can bring logs or examples its pointless to argue. The point though is at the time of the ransom it's impossible to know whether or not they will honor it. It's not stupid for a person dealing with someone unknown who has guns trained on their ship to refuse a ransom, in general. I'm not going to have the time to check on the pirates forums and do an estimated guess.
It's a player's money if they want to gamble though.

Most of the pirates I come across not only don't honor ransoms but proudly brag about it afterwards. Your best bet is don't go down to low sec in something you're not ready to loose then there's no reason to even consider ever paying a ransom. I had some tard in a Dramiel try to ransom me a few weeks back, neither of us could break each others tanks and he asked for 10m. I laughed at him and said I never pay ransoms, you can just keep me pointed and I'll go have a smoke. He took off before I could even get up from my computer.

I can confirm I payed ransom for my pod 2 times to different guys, and both times my pod lived...
I can also confirm that my ransoming requests are legit, and I will let go whoever pays the ransom.

You are just hurting your own profession, the key is to be able to get a vic to eject from a Raven, take said raven back to base and then sell said raven back to vic. I speak from exp but I am a obvious alt so my word has little weight.
But If you dishonord any ransome for any reason other than stalling tactics by vic your a douche.

Further evidence in support of my statement. Why risk more in paying ransom when current evidence already demonstrates dishonorable intentions. Simply hoping the captor becomes honorable after you've already given him another 100M isk leaves him with two options, let you go, or finish the job and also claim the wreckage. All evidence indicating that, since you are clearly just in it for the potential gain, you will in-fact finish the job. Good try though.

To be fair, if people start throwing abuse around they deserve what they get. If the killer is professional, than the killee should at least have the common decency to STFU.
