Edited by: Captain Futur3 on 25/03/2010 18:54:22 Hi,
i am just wondering, if anyone has more informations about the little things that incarna will bring us.
- are explosions and weapon effects improved? - do we get better sound effects? - will bugs like the tractor beam be fixed? - are new ship wrecks added? - will missiles get missile launcher models like turrets? - are engine trails readded (maybe when lag is fixed too)? - do thrusters get better effects (for example when you start your afterburner, the flame gets much bigger, sounds louder and changes color)? - is the damage effect of ships improved? Really, the little flame when structure is low cant be all :( - are collision spheres of broken structures/asteroids fixed? I lost a lot of ships because of invisible barriers because the collision sphere was much bigger than the visible obstacle... - anything else?
i saw in an interview that one of the devs said that a lot of little things beneath planetary interaction is improved as well, so maybe some of the points above are in developement and someone can tell me. :) For me, its the "little" things that make a good expansion for Eve instead of adding new content when the old one still needs a lot of work to reach top level.
Thx.

CCP will probably never fix any of the above...
CCP also doesn't know how to release a "good" expansion as per your criteria. They like the hype up a new feature without fixing and improving what they already have.

The expansion in May is Tyrannis...not Incarna. Incarna is walking in stations and supposedly coming in winter or next summer. ---------------- A million faces, each a million lies |

Why the heel anybody needs to walk in stations while gameplay of Eve is so bugged still? I mean, all they do is adding those small details, or expensive ships, which are costly to loose, which alows only superhuman manufacturers or ISK buyers fly them. What is needed to be added to Eve IMO is a pack of cheap new ships to fly some new way, to which community is not yet adapted. Till now, all the cheap ship are known through, hard to amuse anybody, and those which are really new, customisable and fresh - strategic cruisers - COST like thos damn DeathStars!!!

Ignoring everything else, what happens when the community does adapt? Do we keep adding new ships until the server implodes?

They seem to have no problem adding other features causing the server to implode; why not throw more ships in as well?
Or they could fix things like the tier system, which basically keeps worthless ships that nobody wants to fly in the game for no reason. Overhaul the low-tier ships and make them competitive, then we'll have a bunch of new(ish) ships to fly and adapt to.

I was making a generalization to which there will always be exceptions. I'm just pointing out that CCP has a tendency to forget about all of the things that need fixing while they work on their next big subscription drive.

Because its adds a whole new field to the game. CCP in time are turning this into more and more of a virtual world with depth. And its great to see. Hilarious though that your whining about them adding more facets to the game though. And your suggestion would be only a temporary thing. People always adapt to new content. Its the way of things.

I dread expansions.
Just as I'm getting used to the nerfs and fixes (removing medium shader was an awesome move )from the last expansion, here comes a whole new wave of "additions" and "fixes."
Not to mention 4 to 6 weeks of "WTF where you thinking CCP..." posts on the forum. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

Are you kidding?! You ask too much. They even haven't fixed camera zoom bug for like 3-4 years. Same goes for dual monitor support. I bet they just don't care about these stuff as long as core gameplay (i.e. you can't play at all) is not affected.

For some reason it takes CCP years (and usually more than 2) to fix the seemingly little things. Even out of game (like the forums). It's sad. ...

If you are in a fight you don't see them anyway. If you're not in a fight you don't need them anyway.
Originally by: Captain Futur3

Eve has sound?
Originally by: Captain Futur3
- will bugs like the tractor beam be fixed?
Maybe.
Originally by: Captain Futur3
- are new ship wrecks added?
What's wrong with the old ones? A life span of the wreck is until you salvage it or warp out and never come back.
Originally by: Captain Futur3
- will missiles get missile launcher models like turrets?
Probably not.
Originally by: Captain Futur3

Probably not.

When you start an AB or mwd the flame does get bigger and sound gets louder. Changing color? No. Why?
Originally by: Captain Futur3

See answer #1.
Originally by: Captain Futur3

Maybe, but probably not.

From what little information they have released so far:
They will fix the lag/bug the introduced with Dominion. They will add SpaceBlobBook. They will add Planetary mining (probably to function as Dust objectives).
AFs, rockets, blasters, rig-balance, missile hardpoints et al are all left out it seems. CCP claims to want to "fix first, add later" but have not really done so yet.
With SpaceBlobBook they can tap into the lame "modern" generation who are unable to interact with 'real' human beings. With Dust they will expand this market to ensnare console/FPS geeks.
My prediction: CCP sells company to Google in 5 years and Eve becomes a Social Media with 3D Interactive elements, knowing Google they will probably find a way to run the Eve client in a browser

Two reasons: 1) They looked cool as ****. 2) It's a lot easier to get an accurate vector on an opponent visually when they have 6km+ engine trails. Not so important in larger fleet fights, but in small squad or solo warfare, transversal can be the difference between flying home with a cargo full of loot or spamming the warp button to save your pod.

Inserting obligatory cyno-graphic whine to go along with the engine trails
The first time I saw a carrier cyno in I was like "HOLY S*** WTF!!!", it was dramatic, had a huge BANG if you actually use sound as was generally awesome.
These days it just looks like they're being s*** out of nowhere onto the field with a little 'plop'

Yeah. I do miss the impressive cynos I guess cap fleets have become so commonplace, that even the graphics reflect the non-wow-factor.
