Edited by: Ghoest on 29/03/2010 20:42:27 The change is not due a change in supply or demand. There are more or lss the same amount of people as before who want to turn RL money into isk and of course most everyone else in game like the ideaa of playing for free.
Its due to inflation because we arent blowing up as many ships(except insured BS) so there is an over supply of isk in the galaxy in general.

Bots also have an effect. The more of them the higher the price is likely to be as although they do not generate ISK (except the mission bots) they all buy their game time from PLEX, throwing the market proportion out of alignment. I do not know if this is relevant now though.
The Insurance nerf may have a massive impact, I hope the dev blog due soon will mention that. There will be the same demand for minerals (but at a much lower price) but less ISK coming into the game (even if the same amount of ships are blown up from Insurance fraud and Suicide ganking which after a while will stabilise to how we have it currently) This will lead to deflation as Insurance has a massive impact on ISK generated as the economy is not at all diverse. So assuming the glut of minerals is correct PLEX prices should drop sharply. Of course I'm being simplistic and just thinking out loud. It may be compensated by Level 4 missions being so attractive more players do them. If CCP have another mineral sink (or genuine alternative to mining) in mind or ISK faucet then they may be able to balance it out, but I would not hold my breath on that.

PLEX have gotten cheaper since I last was in Jita. They used to cost 330-350 mil. Now they're down to 280-290 mil.
Doesn't look like they're getting more expensive (at least not in the last 6 months).

Yush! Yush they will. Until CCP intervenes anyway.
It's not just supply and demand, its very much like the RL fuel costs, Oil prices are at an all time low, however petrol prices continue to grow BECAUSE they know we have no choice BUT to buy the petrol, that and the conspiracy of its the governments plan to get everyone on public transport so they make even more money from us and play monopoly on it. And i laugh at global warming scams *laughs*
But yes, that's why they get more expensive, and people are making stupidly lots of isk so they can afford to buy the gtc's. --------------------------------------------

PLEX prices are set by the players and there would be no reason for CCP to intervene in any way.

You know, if there is one thing that surprises me more than the fact so many Eve players don't understand what inflation is and how it is caused (hint: blowing up less ships helps fight inflation, blowing up more ships would help inflation), it is the fact that so many Eve players are so damn insistent in claiming that inflation in the Eve economy is happening, and have been for the entire time I've been playing. And yet, in the 3 years since I started playing Eve, the average price levels in the Eve economy as a whole have barely moved at all. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

If you try to talk like that you better know what price elasticity means.

Plex prices are at their current levels PRECISELY BECAUSE CCP INTERVENED by ditching the 90 day cards. The effects were immediate.
