I have three characters, on three different accounts, that were created for special purposes, and are no longer needed.
I've never tried to sell a character before and don't have a clue.
One problem is that I am hesitant to provide the Limited API key for the accounts because of the other characters on them. As I said, these characters were not developed with the intent to sell.
1. What information should I provide in the advertisements?
2. How can I get some idea how much to ask for?
I will look through other ads when I finish this, but I'm afraid I will find one that I really want to duplicate that was created by someone who knows as little as I do. |

Well first of all I suggest that you read a few current sales threads and see what others are putting in them, also make sure you read the character sales rules in the sticky thread. You do not have to give the characters limited API key to anyone if you don't want to, I have a character up for sale and nobody is getting his API key as that would give the identity to the other character on his account.
What I suggest is that you get your characters details put onto eveboard, you need to imput your API key there but it's fine as you get to choose which characters info you want on the site, and the site is run by Chribba who is the most trusted member of the Eve community. Overall though just give brief details on the implants, standings if there are nay good enough to mention, what does the character do and fly. Just list the key points and you will be set.
As for price, you should be looking for around 200 million isk per million skillpoints I think, maybe more if the character is specialised but it's entirely up to you what you will accept. An auction can be handy as you have a starting bid, a reserve if you want and also an optional buyout price.
Hope that helps.

I'd also advise looking through other threads in order to gain;
Good layouts
Price Guides to your characters for an acceptable starting price and buyout.
as suggested, read bazaar stickys.

Another question. Do jump clones go with characters that are sold?

That's a good point, when I sell characters I always go through the address book, mails, notifications and bookmarks, deleting everything apart from any standard info mails like rat damage types and such. So make sure your uber safespots are transfered to your other character and then removed along with your POS locations and POS password mails e.t.c.
P.S. You could always make a bookmark labeled "loot can pw/3245" in system that is always camped as bait but thats cruel and immoral, but also a laugh.
