Since the new patch, I've noticed something that has really bothered me: in Castor, when you used the LOOK AT feature to observe an enemy ship that you are pounding on, the camera would stay fixed on the target even as it exploded. This provided those of us in the movie making business with the so-called 'money shot'.
Ever since the Dawn of Exodus, this is no longer the case. When attacking a target, the second it starts to explode the camera immediately resets back to my ship. This... well, IT SUCKS!
I know that in the greater scheme of things this may seem small, but I know that for a large majority of PvPers, especially those of us who run FRAPs a lot, this new 'feature' is unwelcome to say the least.
Now, if there is a setting I can click that will correct this that I have somehow missed, I'd greatly appreciate someone telling me. Otherwise, can this somehow make the list of "things to change back to the way they were" for a future hotfix? Please? Pretty please with super-heated plasma on top, etc...?
EDIT - Please sign this thread to keep it bumped. I know I'm not the only one who is upset about this. -

Yeah seen this too.
I might be on ***** - but is this related to the orbit feature we've now got?
For those non-knife fighters, this is the fact that when the target you are orbiting pop's, you stop faster than if you hit the big red stop button ctrl-space.
Is this a bug I should report - or is it how its supposed to be now. Its a tad annoying for knife fighters using very short range guns.

I second both of the above criticisms of the design. Though I do not think that they are related. Lots of stuff that is excellent about Exodus. However, some stuff like this I am hoping that the Devs will "see the light" and correct eventually.

I did more testing of this last night against both NPCs and a couple corp mates who were nice enough to let me blow the crap out of them in some frigates. Every time the ship started to explode, the camera resets. This is really sad as the new explosions are so nice, what with the wreckage going everywhere and the new sound effects and the giant balls of fire and (rambles on for five more minutes...).
Anyway, I'd like to be able to film it. Soon (tm). Like, before Friday. -

Wish we could set our own timing in the general options like 0sec (instant on explosion reset camera) or 5sec (wait 5 sec before reset camera) etc __________________________

Its probably some mechanism to prevent people locking pods so quickly? Just a thought though I might be way off. Personally I only pod pirates, never people in corp wars. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |

Because they have made the explosions so dammed cool now what I do is manually move my camera out to just infront of the ship to view the explosion.
Try it kinda hard if your fighting a frigate though works best on BS targets really.. ==============================================

Isn't it typical EVE. Here's a great new feature (lovely explosions). Ah, but we've already nerfed your enjoyment of it (camera reset). ----------------------------------- A gun and a packet of sandwiches.

Signed.
I usually counteract it by looking at it while the camera's on another nearby object, but still. I'd love the big flashy kaboom right in my face, seizures nonwithstanding. ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

Simple solution to "quick pod targeting" through the remote camera:
Remove targeting option from right-click menu when viewing through remote camera (but keep all the others, which are useful but don't give an edge - such as Show info).
Everyone's happy.
