Edited by: Boxless on 21/04/2010 03:44:08 Seriously guys, it is getting a bit thick. What is thick you might ask, the bull****.
Members of one alliance/coalition villainize those on the opposing side as if they had done something very uncomfortable to them or their close female family members. What is amusing about this is that it only seems to be the peons that hold this hate for their adversaries. The leaderships of these groups are commonly long-time friends that are steering their forces towards conflict for the sake of fun or profit, not out of dis-like.
We all fly internet spaceships. We all want ISK to buy said internet spaceships. We all prefer blowing up internet spaceships more than we do losing them. We all spend way too much time on this hobby that we let it get to us. We ALL want good fights. We all agree that CCP is denying us good fights by dragging their feet. We all dislike cheap propaganda that isn't humorous in the least. We all will be here for years to come as the politics are bound to sway greatly.
So try not to emo rage so easily and hold hate as deep as they do in the Red vs. Blue Halo machima.

No, it isn't, at least to those of us that don't spend 15-23 hours EVERY SINGLE day on EVE.

Like it or not, this is just basic human nature. When you're part of a group, any group, it's easy to become defensive when another group attacks yours. It happens everywhere in all walks of life. Why would EVE be any different?
Yes, it's just internet spaceships but you don't seem to understand that many people put a lot of time and effort into these things. My best advise it learn to deal with it or find a PvE game, although even then PvEers can have these same feelings towards others. Maybe you're just not suited for competitive games?

I'm fine with competition. I used to play in multiple FPS ladders and we respected the other teams, not hate them. In EVE however, people dismiss the enemy as scrubs yet still feel like it is an achievement when they beat them. Make up your mind are they a worth opponent or not. You can't say alliance x sucks and then stand on a pedestal after defeating them.

Well you don't lose countless hours of farming when you die in an FPS. EVE is completely different to any other game in that respect, you just can't expect to compare it to anything. When someone kills your ship, it can be devastating. Feelings of anger and hatred are quick to show themselves.
I just lost a cane yesterday because I was being stupid and not paying attention but I still hate the three guys that killed me. It didn't help that they popped my wreck either. Seriously, if you cant deal with the aggro then go back to FPS. Whining on the forums isn't gonna change people's mindset.
Edit: Look at it this way. You spend a year working your ass off to buy a new car then some ******* comes to your house and smashes the **** out of it. You'd want to kick his ass and call him all kinds of names, right?
Then how is that any different to spending hours upon hours, months upon months of farming for ISK to buy a ship you really want, only to have someone come smash the **** out of it? The investment of time is the same, the loss is the same, the only difference is EVE is just pixels. But then again, a brand new car is just metal and plastic.

You buy/build internet spaceships with the intent to use them to blow up other internet spaceships(npc or player) or assist in space ship blowing-up. You should know of the risk that someone else might want to blow it up, if you accept that risk, there is no reason for sour grapes.
When you buy a car, it is a reasonable expectation that noone is going to intentionally smash or blow it up unless they are mentally ill. Thus is is perfectly reasonable to be mad in this case.
Now a car analogy that fits is a demolition derby car. Do demolition derby drivers hate each other when someone smashes into their cars?

Yeah, that argument only works if the person being attacked is in a PvP ship. These guys would have popped an Orca or indie if it hadn't been me. Seriously man, go play something else. I hate all the smack talk too but it's just as much a part of EVE as shopping in Jita. Get used to it or gtfo.

When you fight, you live or die/win or lose. When you win, respect your opponent for trying and throw him a 'gf!'. When you lose, respect your opponent for trying harder than you and throw him a 'gf!'.
As for the blobbing goes, like Plague Black said: "Don't cry if you receive a blob. Cry because you failed in bringing that blob."
When you die, please die quietly. When you win, please leave quietly and go on CAOD for chestbeating.

You sir, are failing!
You are complaining about other peoples perception/engagement, or even way of playing, in an internet spaceship-game were the objective of the game is to conquer, scam, kill, outmaneuver, ruin, harass, go to war, etc...etc...
I can tell you it is very hard trying to harass someone if you are trying to be friendly to that victim...err..person at the same time.
EVE Online is not designed to be friendly or to make friends. It is designed for you to reach "the top" by stepping on the skulls of those who dont make it...
Now.. You are entitled to youre opinion, but i would suggest that EVE might not be the game for you.. ______________________________________________ My sig is on strike due to lack of attention! |

For others the reason might be unrequited love to certain alliance leader. This way they try to win the attention and one day maybe the affection of their "target". General Windypop I am looking at you.

I would very much have to disagree with you there. The game mechanics of EVE are very much designed to encourage social play, and interactions between players, both friendly and hostile. What else is a corp except a group of players who are usually friendly towards each other? No one player can do everything, and so players are encouraged (if not forced really) to form relationships with other players and work together.
And when all is said and done, it is a fictional game world played out by changes being made to a database. If you're taking it too seriously and not having fun with it, no matter what activities you partake in, perhaps it's not the game for you.

Its a nice Op n all , but I don't get what its got to do with Cherryade, or even how we would cut it, or why for that matter.
Is the Cherryade 2 strong , and how does a delicious carbonated drink made from cherry flavoured chemicals and sweet sweet sugar relate to the Conflict in the north.
