Looks like I got quite a few likes out of this suggestion in another thread so here goes...
The suggestion is simple. Once your ship enters warp do you notice that it takes some time to get to full warp speed? Yeah, I want the time that takes reduced significantly. Also, do you notice that when exiting warp it takes quite a long time to decelerate to a full stop? Yeah, I want the time that takes to be reduced significantly too.
I can't see why we currently need this time to accelerate and decelerate while still in warp. I think as soon as you are in warp you should be to full speed in a time that the server can reasonably handle (this is probably the main issue) and when exiting warp you should be to a full stop in a time that the server can reasonably handle (considering this takes so much longer than decelerating I would say this is where the server has the biggest issue).
This suggestion is something that helps pretty much everyone throughout EVE. This should help ships with faster warp speeds actually have an advantage against slower ships in smaller solar systems. Ever been in an interceptor in a small solar system and have a cruiser land only 2 or 3 seconds after you when your warp speed would suggest a 20 to 30 second advantage, yeah that's annoying.
So, this helps just about everyone and gives faster warping ships a bigger edge on their slower opponents.
What say you fellow capsuleers?

All ships will warp as fast as the slowest warping ship in fleet.

You don't only fleet warp during battles, you know. Only the primary bulk of the fleet does, support is often doing its own thing at all times. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

Yeah, kinda figure that. However, it is said that they have made it a point that they should be fixing the older parts of EVE including the scary old code. They are going to be updating the POS code and I can't see how this would take anywhere near the kind of time needed for the POS code.
But yeah, definitely a technical issue more than anything... but it needs to be updated like everything else.... no excuses. |

Indeed, and all of this has little to do with those warping solo throughout all of New Eden. |

I'm not sure that's really the case at all as it has been pointed out that this isn't the first time this issue has come up. The last time it did the excuse was that code was too old and scary to touch. However, CCP says they have committed to fixing and re-iterating on the older parts of EVE and this is one of them.
Considering this probably isn't anywhere near as complicated as the POS code and it affects drastically more people it would be considered some nice "low-hanging fruit" to pick. Mmmmm.... tasty. |

Realistically, the acceleration of the ships to their top warp speed should be carefully tied to the mass and power of the ship. Obviously, the larger, slower stuff is going to take longer to reach top speed, whilst the frigs should warp like bats out of hell. |

I agree. We spend so much time doing acceleration/deceleration that the actual ship's warp speed becomes irrelevant. The Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer rigs are pretty much useless. |

This. After all these years I only noticed the other day how much time was spent accelerating/decelerating. Warping across a system in a cruiser I was only at full warp speed for a few seconds. |

This pretty much. Unless you're warping across a huge +100au system, a 6au/s t1 frig and a 12au t2 frig will land within seconds of each other, if not right at the same time. As soon as you're in warp, you should be at full warp speed. Possum's Awesome : Awesome Possum

Not to mention it would look way more badass when your fleet of battleships drops out of warp. The bigger the ship the bigger the blast it could give out when dropping out of warp.
Also, warp drives are essentially faster-than-light travel and acceleration is soooo Newtonian physics. |

The galaxy is and feels far too small as it is. The fact you can make it from one side to the other in minutes with a capital and about an hour with a frigate is too fast.
If I had it my way (yes, my way, and I give zero F's about the incoming flames) I would quadruple the amount of systems and do some other changes where it takes a week to go from one side to the other in the fastest ship. |

I have definitely watched a ship warp, then warped to its destination in an interceptor and gotten there before it. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

Why not [also] slash all warp-speeds so the top-speed is achieved more often, making a difference that way? Too fast travel is the main culprit behind blobbing and superhubs. Copine Callmeknau disappeared one day now we are left with Taurich Vorsel AKA BIZARRO COPE! |
