Edited by: Falcus Hadron on 08/05/2010 19:05:36 Hey folks. Do you like using the "Saved Fit" feature?
Do you like grouping your guns?
Well CCP about to break it. On the test server they've re-worked the saved fit feature.
Now it strips your entire fit and puts in the new one. So if you had a group of guns, it would break the group.
So if you are using the feature to switch between Hardener sets in mission runners, the saved fit feature has become ENTIRELY POINTLESS.
But Falcus, my fit consists only of hardeners!
Well too bad buddy, cause now the saved fit will strip out your guns and not put them back. Meaning you now have to put them back manually.
Jeeze CCP nobody was about to rage quit over the slight bugs in the Saved Fit, but this would just break it. Take it out before the mission runners stage a revolt.
PS Not like that has stopped CCP before, So.... FIRST WHINE ON THE SAVED FITTING ISSUE!

I hope you realize that Singularity is for testing and everything there is subject to change, at any time, at any point, without notice.
That said, breaking the current functionality in release build seems... unlikely. ________________________

This is absolutely the right way to do it.
Falcus Hadron,
I suggest that you go to the Test server feedback forum and start this thread there instead. The forum is frequently read by us developers. We want and need your feedback to changes made there, so please give it to us.
If you encounter issues on the test server, we very much welcome feedback for those in the form of bug reports. We also need these, so please send them to us and we'll be happy to review and resolve the issues you report in a prioritized manner. And remember, the better reproduction steps you provide the quicker and easier it is for us to resolve the issue.

And you are - gasp - whining about it instead of doing what you are supposed to do on Singularily: bugreport it! But nooo! its funnier to whine about it - in the wrong forum!
So please if you dont have better things to do then to whine about something thats on TEST server, then please go somewhere else!

Edited by: BeanBagKing on 08/05/2010 20:02:46 TBH I would like this change. There are a few times I've gone to refit my ship and have it tell me I don't have enough CPU. I double check and sure enough, the loadout I'm trying to fit has a blank spot, but it didn't strip my last loadout, which has an extra item. I'd perfer that they went ahead and stripped a fitting before sticking on the next loadout.
One mans trash... or some such, I guess that applies here.
In any case, as has been said, post in the correct forum and be constructive instead of starting a rant when one thing changes on the test server. It's a test server, not everything that happens there will come to TQ, if you don't want it to then let the GM's know in a helpful manner.
On a related note, it would also be awesome to have loadouts that automatically empty out your cargo and reload/replace your cargo with whatever you saved (if possible). But meh, if it happens it happens, not worth opening a thread about.

I sometimes wonder why some go on the test server then don't bother to post in the correct forums about bugs they find. What a complete waste of time.

It's always funny to see the automatic fitting thingy struggle to switch every single module between two entirely different fittings, usually failing somewhere halfway through due to not enough powergrid, or due to modules "unavailable" (because they are not in my hangar, but still fit to the ship, only to a differrent slot than in the new fitting!). I always need to check whether I didn't end up with a weird mix of both fittings and some empty slots, and if it happens try and try again.
I'm happy for the change and hoping that it makes it to TQ!

Why, good! It's supposed to be loading a new fit. :) Best to clean out the old stuff first, ne. And as long as they're not stripping the rigs along with it, I'm fine with it.

The only wrong fit here is the one you're throwing.

Edited by: Siiee on 08/05/2010 21:23:04 Edited by: Siiee on 08/05/2010 21:20:57 This issue has had at least 2 threads in Test Server forum (one by me) They've had very few responses and have been quickly pushed off the front page as you would expect by the large volume of PI testing threads. This is a particularly nasty change for those that it does effect, so I do understand a bit what Falcus is trying to do by posting in the wrong forum to try and get some attention to it by those that it does effect (ie: not those fitting fresh ships to get consequence free pvp in FD-MLJ)
For those saying that they prefer the new way, here is the issue with it. current TQ system full fitting change: click strip fit click to fitting window click load fit
partial fitting change: click load fit
new system full fitting change: click load fit
partial fitting change: click load fit shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint shift drag hardpoint scroll to bottom of assets shift select 8 ammo stacks drag ammo stacks to cargo right click click stack all drag ammo stack to gun group drag cap booster charge stack from assets to booster drag tracking script from assets to module
or alternatively: click unfit hardener click unfit hardener search in assets for hardener type 1 drag hardener to fitting window search in assets for hardener type 2 drag hardener to fitting window
Understandably, those of use who ever do partial refits are not amused.

To be honest, regrouping isn't THAT big of a deal. If you restack the ammo and just drag one set onto the group, it automatically loads them all. Then you can go about your merry way. By the way, this is my signature.

Easiest solution would be to save weapon grouping within the saved fit and give an option "unload ammo to cargo|hangar"

The key problem here would be it removing your rigs and trying to refit new (non existent) ones, leaving you with a bit of shopping to do. ~_~ (Retired from ship toasting. Now a professional.)

it doesn't remove rigs, so there's no worry about that.
Originally by: Agent Unknown To be honest, regrouping isn't THAT big of a deal.
Manually clicking strip fit in the cases that you want the ship stripped first is an even smaller deal. I like skipping a dozen redundant mouse clicks every time I change fittings, my wrist appreciates it.

That would be great, but I don't doubt that they want to have groupings saved, so I imagine that it's just too big of a task to implement in this cycle. An unload charges option wouldn't help any because the strip fit automatically unloads all, and if you could toggle the unload off the strip would fail and the bug they're trying to fix would remain. They are fixing an annoying bug with this change, it's just that the bug they're fixing is infinitely less annoying than the one they're introducing.

As the person who started the other thread on the test server feed back forum. I agree totally.
The fact is that on the test server, all the Devs and testers are focusing on PI and its ramification. It's easy for a stealth change like this to slip by completely un-noticed until mission runners are whining about it on TQ.
Lets face it, even with all the flaming there's been more constructive post on this thread then both Siiee's and mine combined.
And I think it's a good thing this issue has community attention NOW as opposed to after it goes live.
The way I see it the devs have 3 options. 1) Let us store weapons groups 2) Stop weapons groups form breaking up 3) Just don't f*ck around with it. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

I believe it has always ignored rigs if you already had them fitted (as in, it wouldn't remove the rigs at all). By the way, this is my signature.

If this is a genuine change then I apologise to the Op for my earlier post. It did not cross my mind that they would think it was a good idea, especially as it breaks something to fix another bug.
Maybe CCP could confirm it as a genuine proposed change or put peoples mind at rest. Really, can we get the UI farmed out to the players?
