Everyone stakes mismakes, including the human element of CCP.
Honestly: it never ceases to amaze me how unforgiving we humans can be.

This is the internet. Trolls and other magical creatures are native to this plane. Asking one to move out from under the bridge is like asking a junkie to give up crack.

Honestly, the OP is right. I feel sad that the forums are an extension of the EVE "no-rules-sandbox" way in that sense. We're not playing the game here people. There's no extra for forum tears and the forum moderation lacks in that sense. Lack of man power, lack of will. Maybe it's intentional. So I'll just point out a few things to some who trolled this thread.
Not everyone is a native english speaker. So what if the spelling is off? Who the **** are you people? My english teachers? Get a grip... maybe you should try some turkish, croat or spanish! I bet you'd look like a moron too! But no, let's troll the spelling fail! Get a grip... that's all I say!
To all the cani haz stuzfz peeps... I know it's a tradition and whinning about quiting is showing eve is not for you but ffs... he's talking about getting trolled for whatever you say on these forums.
For my part, I'd like to see the new forums come with new rules. Rules about trolling/flaming. If it's a flame bait thread, lock it. It's easy. Most forums do it for years now. I mod a bodyboard forum with a hell of a lot more people than this one (yes, newsflash, the playerbase that uses the forums is the small minority!) and if you post a flame bait, it gets deleted... period! Indeed, they yell about freedom of expression and all those pretty arguments, but it all comes down to knowing your freedom ends where the next persons begins! True that in EVE this is NOT the case, but this is NOT EVE! These are the EVE Forums!
And no mates, I'm not leaving, I'm an alt and **** yeah, I'm whinning about you *****es having too much time to roam these forums and the lack of action from the mods to keep the forums with wealthy discussions instead of 99% troll crap!!

It is unfortunate that the forum is full of trolls. It would be nice to be able to have a civilized community to engage in serious discussions with. Unfortunately I doubt that will ever be the case, unless they start making exclusive 'groups' or something.
Although I must pipe up regarding the spelling issue. Totally understand where you're coming from about non-English background speakers etc. But people, you do realize that if you have misspelled a word it will underline it in RED denoting that you have made a typo, and that you can in fact right click on the word and it will bring up the correct spelling alternatives (assuming you have gotten close to the mark the first time round). This may be dependent on what OS/browser you're running though.
Meh, I guess at heart I am one of those 'grammar' elitists... I seem to automatically judge someones intellect as being 'less than adequate' when I see that their post is riddled with grammatical and spelling mistakes.

I still believe it's all in the delivery but there's people here that will disagree. The fact that they are mostly producing the same victim mentality posting that gets them flamed has not gone unnoticed.
If you wan't an end to shiptoasting and trolling, CCP should let me moderate these forums. Yes I could even moderate myself on occasion. ~_~ (Retired from ship toasting. Now a professional.)

No mate, unfortunately my browser does not offer the option to check spelling, at least not in english. Like you said, it does underline every single word I type in english, so it does come down to my non-native english skills. I propose setting the forums on a alternating language on a monthly basis. So when it comes to icelandic, the devs and mods can just have their lulz when you english peeps try to post something of interest!
Not everyone in the world speaks english, and I do understand that there must be a common language to communicate in the forums, but the spelling elite will have to get a grip on reality and realise that they wouldn't even be able to communicate (most of you at least) at all if the forum was in another language!
All I'm really saying is that everyone should just take a deep breath in regards to spelling and that the mods should really just start slapping peeps who just come here to grief/for the lulz of ****ting on someone elses issues, whatever those are.
That's all for now

Ive gotta agree. The forums were the first place I came to when I first became interested in EVE...and I have to say that...actively hostile forums with zero moderation or rules enforcement such as these, isnt convincing people to come and play the game. I nearly didnt myself with all the flaming trolling and general hostility. But, Im glad to say that I joined up and am now working my way to a Thorax.
But, how many people have CCP lost this way? Alot of people come to a MMO for multiple reasons. But, the community is usually the most important as it is a MMO and you want to be able to get along with the people you will be playing with. These forums give off the impression that newbies are not welcome sometimes. AND, when even veterans to the game get flamed...it really does make EVE look like a game populated by trolling a**holes...which I know its not...but potential players dont know that and will never find out.

You get to show your colours if you post on your main, and a friend might see it. I was going to say that you're doing it wrong if you post on your alt. But that's only true if your plan isn't to keep a low profile, to hide in the masses.
Imho this forum is at least half the game, and there is an extra for forum tears. This is Eve General Discussion. Eve players come here to have General Discussions. About Eve. Eve players. Talk about Eve. On a forum. I, for one, am not surprised that your actions here are intertwined with your actions "in game", nope.
PS: I voted Cat too.

I disagree with everything you said there. This forum has plenty of moderation but just little enough to be suitable for an MMO like Eve.
And I don't play MMOs "to get along with people". Nonsense. If you do, fine. It's not an arguement, oh man, that's simply no an arguement. Are any more anonymous victims going to post now? Get a room. Ingame.

i would estimate a very high number of forum trolls have never had their accounts hacked, or been part of some market messup that leaves them in minus isk.
thus they tell the OP's they are weak, they suck, ask for the remainder of their stuff bla bla bla. Unfortunatly for you eve is just like this, and so its very hard for the forum troll hunters to help. Hard game, hard forums.
GTFO, giv stuff, buhu, meme this meme that bla bla bla.
this, was a good post.

Originally by: Swiftgaze EDIT: I mean, I do agree that the frequency of old memes sometimes reaches a level that bores me to death but what were you expecting, a dude just came here on the forum to talk about how CCP hurt his FEELINGS.
CCP HURT HIS FEELINGS. WTF. HURT HIS FEELINGS. W-T-F
If I had lost anything (I'm not sure, but I think not), then CCP would have hurt my wallet, but not my goddamn feelings.
Quoted two parts of your previous posts to show you one thing. These are the EVE forums, and like you said this is general discussion, where EVE players come talk general things about EVE. How EVE or CCP (which makes EVE) makes a EVE player feel, regardless of the point in posting such issues, does stand in the correct section of the forum.
What makes me wonder is why does it bother you so much when he posted something about losing X item or Y amount of isk hurts his feelings and from there felt the need to post it on the forums. Where's the need for the trolling? Why? Because you don't share his point of view? You don't feel the same way regarding the issue at hand? In my life, if I don't have something constructive to add, I stfu and move along! 99% of the time, that's what I do in these forums... moving along.
He has feelings regarding an event in his experience in EVE. So what? Why do you care? I know I don't! I have feelings for people who can't see beyond their own belly. Just stop a bit, look around, take a couple of deep breaths and realize that reality is a matter of perspective!
An old man once told me that if everyone around you acts and seems crazy and you think you're the only one sane, most likely you're the crazy one, making the trolls "sane" in the EVE forum world!
BTW, this is my main (Ibn Minion is my Jita price checking alt). Also, last post in this thread.
Thanks for reading up to here ... hehehe :D

Ok so when did I say it hurt my feelings?
Can you not read?
Are you a fan of chinese whispers ?
Do you not reading the entire topic first before posting?
What I did say was this:
"To have an Item removed from a hanger will hurt peoples feelings, rich or poor."
This is because some players work harder for what they have than others. Again not speaking of myself here but of the community.
Now, Where did it say MY FEELINGS because on reading it back I didn't say that at all. My OP was for CCP to understand that people will be darn cheesed off about losing items and about the reimbursement procedure being far too slow.

This thread is particularly funny. Finally an OP who expresses his feelings in a lucid, well-thought-thru and polite manner, and what does he get? Comments like "r u a girl irl???" LOL. Or "Will you go out with me? You must be a girl or at least attracted to men." Yes, nothing frustrates more than people who are kind and articulate! :)
Are these trolls worth getting upset over? Nah. They're the ones that call you "4-eyes" in highschool, and will be serving you burgers a few years later. If the best they can do is get all bent out of shape because you made a good post, then just take the latter from the experience: the realization that you made a good post.
For future reference, just never ask the trolls not to troll, as this magic incantation generally brings 'em out in droves. Unless you were just looking to have a little fun with them -- Lord knows EVE forum could use a wee fun every now and then! :)

What I wrote was in a sense directed towards the moderators of this forum. I gave them quite a hard time in honesty about the downtime. I wrote things I should not have wrote.
In truth I should have took a few minutes to gather my thoughts before ranting to them on other topics.
I don't believe that writing a topic like this one is a bad thing what so ever. My mistake happened as kind people have pointed out I mentioned the T word, yes the dreaded troll...
As for me being Female, no I am indeed Male but the female jibes made me laugh. The sheer immaturity of that remark was hilarious.
I do think however that the trolls should find a nice bridge to dwell under read a little literature and grow the f&*k up and stop attempting to cause a reaction to decent forum posters.
