Scam: A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.Although we appreciate that EVE offers freedom to all forms of playing style, including those of 'despicable' and 'lowly' kind, we still believe that some form of in-game 'customer-protection' would have a point. Therefore, we introduce you, SCAMwatchÖSCAMwatchÖ is a service that collects information about scammers and their latest scam attempts in order to counteract their profits, so that the legit traders / business people in EVE may gain what they deserve. Moreover, by offering a list of latest scammers, SCAMwatchÖ helps certain local channels (eg. Jita) to become much cleaner, and protects less careful people (aka. new players) from falling into mistakes which may void their existence in EVE universe. You can find more information at www.evescamwatch.com (compatible with in-game browser) Thank you for your contribution to the EVE community...

Scams are easy to spot, nobody needs a scamwatch service, people simply need to read the contract properly.

Posting to confirm that all the people I scam are brand new players who happen to have 500m+ in their possession.
but in all seriousness @ the OP: Your idea is going to do about as much good as a waterproof towel.
The people with enough presence of mind to check a website about scams are going to have enough presence of mind not to get scammed in the first place, and the sort of people who get scammed generally do so despite multiple warnings from other people about the scammer being a scammer.

1. The people who would use our service 'may' be those who want to quickly block all of the scammers in order to receive less spam in local.
2. People who are not 'mindful' enough to check our website may always get a second chance.
3. Our services will not be limited to this.
PS: Joe Phoenix obsessions cannot be cured by our service, please seek medical attention as soon as possible.

What some people find 'annoying' may save the wallet of new and veteran players alike. Actually scam knows no experience. I hope you realize it sooner than that critical mistake.

Do not worry because we are developing an application that can warn people about scammers wherever they may be located. You are right in that there will be always be players to be scammed and 'fooled'. However, there will be less, hopefully.
On the other hand, it may be 'you' one day, who would fall for a scam. You cannot guarantee it, can you?

Edited by: Slapchop Gonnalovemynuts on 18/05/2010 21:52:54 What a pointless service...
I know you mean well and all, but the kind of person who would go out of his way to keep up with a list of scammers, is the type who is going to recognize a scam 100 miles away, regardless of who the scammer is.
The people who end up getting scammed are either really stupid, uninformed, or inattentive, and those people are going to continue to get hit by scammers regardless of any service one may attempt to provide. In other words, you are trying to sell refrigerators to eskimos.
That being said, I wish you good luck in your endeavor. --------------------------------------------

You do not need to copy & paste all of them, just open our corporation description tab to see right clickable links for the most recent scammers.
Plus, you seem to have found an opportunity to advertise your "Legit Trading" solution. Any more ads coming along? Maybe Quafe next time?

If a person is smart enough to remember to block a list in a corporation description tab every few days, then im sure they will have no problem reading a contract and figure out its a scam.
The 'legit trading' channel filters out the crap contracts and lets you view legit contracts from all over eve - Not just jita local. A few scammers may get in, but they are quickly banned.
A more passive stance on scamming is ideal in my eyes.

I have to admit that most people who fall for these scams are actually 'drunk' or otherwise intoxicated at the time the incident happens.
I appreciate your stance against scamming, but it will still not resolve (reduce) the flow of illicit ISK to scammer wallets. (approx. 2 billion a week for a dedicated scammer).

I'll be one of the rare few to say something positive here. I probably would not use SCAMWatch for my daily EVE play, as one does get used to noticing and ignoring all the usual scams we see every day (in fact, I think scams make EVE better, not worse, as they add that additional level of realism). However, I do see some utility in it if you are, say, for example, seeking out a specific service for the first time. Example: let's say I wanted to move a bunch of items from my corp HQ to another location (for whatever reason) - and let's say I had never used a third party transportation service. I could see, in that case, checking out SCAMWatch to educate myself on scams relating specifically to transportation-for-hire. The same could b etrue for someone who wants to hire a merc corp for the frist time (Lord knows scams abound there), or for breaking into commodities trading as a new trader, etc etc etc. Anyway, just wanted to offer that as a suggestion. Cheers

While your efforts are seemingly noble, it seems you are focusing on countering contract scammers.
This type of scammer posts obvious and dumb contracts into local. The people who fall for these are those that fail to read details; exactly the kind of people that won't pay attention to your crusade. There's often enough some bored missioners/traders/ship spinners in these hubs crying scam after half of these anyway. It's a nice effort from you to try and save some unfortunate people from losing their ISK but really, I think there's a better way to approach this. ~_~ (Retired from ship toasting.
