Bash i think that was a hand from species 8472 from S.T.Voyager. War of the worlds is a classic though.

Ah crap, Steven Speilberg is doing it... so I guess Tom Cruise will be patting some small blonde american child on the head at the end of the film whilst they stare into a sunset...

I remember reading about it on SA, actually.
It's basically going to be Independance Day 2, takes place in america and replace the virus that kills off the martians with F-16 and F-22 airplanes.

Given it's Spielberg and him having lost his creative touch, just doing run of the mill things lately did you really expect him to take a chance with a lesser posterboy?
Spielberg is as stale as Lucas, Burton & Stone but to his credit Cruises work has improved over the years. Although him being in everything lately makes him prone to the Samuel L Jackson syndrome, massive overexposure in just about any crap that's on a screen.
