what annoys people more? When you get killed and the enemy smacks, or when you smack after you get killed and they don't respond. They are dead silent. You try to eve mail them your smack, no response. You try to private convo them smack. Rejected.
What do you respect more? Well played smack that makes your blood boil? Or a simple gf in local, or when you can't get the enemy to say anything at all. They are like a robot that doesn't respond. They just kill....
I am curious as to what the C&P people think...

If I'm bored I'll talk in local, but I don't consider it smack. Just a little friendly banter. Occasionally vulgar if you attempt to ranson me. Show me a little respect and pod me like a man, and I'll show you some respect.

I avoid talking in local unless I just lost then I give a customary "gf". Smack talk may bait noobs or the short-tempered into engaging you, but it also sends up a red flag to everyone else that there's something going on with possible ganks/ninjaing to be found.
Possible scenario:
Player A: Yo mama is so fat, she popped out of her titan.
Player B: I luv mah mama, I gun kill u! Here's my faction battleship, nub, tell me where to bring it!
Player A: Planet 1 1/2, nublet! I got my more expensive fit faction battleship waiting! And another one nearby on my alt!
Player C: Targets spotted, release the blob!

The key to getting the best smack is after killing someone don't respond at all in local. They will either go bonkers in local or even better yet send you a diatribe evemail, those are the best and make great bio material.

If they don't smack first, I don't care.
If they smack first, I'll smack back playfully but once they try to use invalid premises to reach a conclusion (such as 'you suck at EVE noob') then I employ a series of logical structures to prove that his premises are invalid and therefore his conclusion is invalid. It's a tingly feeling when he hasn't typed in a while and then tries to come back with some generic comeback at nerds being too smart or something.
Doesn't happen often, most of the time it's just 'gf' or start up a convo and talk about each other's fittings and maybe make a friend in the process.

People who auto-accept the charges in order to convo me ... after I set those charges to 1m isk.

Talking in local is normaly frustration on the part of the people talking.
Camp somone in their station you can guarantee they will say somthing in local about blobbing and start asking for 1v1 in local because you got more friends than he has.
Escape a gate camp or some other gank and watch local fill with comments about running away being chicken ect.
Each comment in local simply confirms what you already know your enemy is not happy and I always chuckle to myself.
Personaly I never say a word in local even after a fight lets face it how many fights are that good anyway?

Last night he group we were station camping came out with the most hilarious smack ive seen in a while. Calling us all sorts of stuff, was truly great.
Hell, I even logged on my spy in their corp and started smacking them in corp chat.

I only ever tend to get smack when I've ganked someone: usually a poor defenseless hulk or something.
I'n such a situation, I usually wind them up a little (taking great care to remain polite and civil), and then try to make friends with them. This can go one of two ways... either:
the guy gets really angry and you end up with premium quality tears
or
the guy starts to feel guilty for shouting so much, and apologises, given that you've turned out to be such a nice guy. I cannot express just how sweet THAT is!

I love it when people smacktalk us. The best part is laughing at them on vent and in corpchat, because we never respond. The mantra is "Let them eat static". It nearly always gets them more and more angry and incoherent, which leads to more lols.

Smack is a tool that should be used by everyone and both giving it out and not saying anything are both forms of it. Everything resolves back to psychological intimidation or the odd chance you can throws someoneÆs thinking off track. I for one like when people smack and will often smack back anyone that sees me in game please feel to talk to me about animal sex or any other sick act iam always down.

I can imagine that. Saying nothing back is possibly the most elaborate form of smack there is. Especially when in system with a large group of a well known and respected organization. It really gets the elitist notion across that your corp or alliance is in a different league altogether and is able to have a degree of control over its members which pesky smacktalkers can only dream about.

I'd say the lack of smack is what annoys me most. There is not enough smack talk in your average local channel in this game.

I have a lot more respect for those who give a simple GF in local. Smack talking just isn't something that appeals to me on the giving or receiving end. I find people who fail to say anything to be a bit rude. You can smash an opponent all you want, but at least have the courtesy to toss out a 'GF' when the dust settles.
Of course, there are exceptions. When it's a personal vendetta, a well placed one liner or simple silence can mean a lot more than the loss itself.
