It's been a dramatic couple of eve weeks for me and my corp.
I must warn you now, this blog entry is looooong. So long I haven't even tried to post it up here this time.
I have tried to break it down into a fluent account of the story. One which is being misrepresented a great deal around Indy and Minmatar fishwife circles.
I'm not going to post again in this thread now, It's quite likley to decend into adolesent quality smack once the witches land their broomsticks here
Happy downtime!

That was a brilliant write up. It really highlights the issues faced in setting up shop in a wormhole. Mostly the risks you face. There is an element of trust/risk needed when living out of a POS and relying on each other for logistics. I can certainly see why people like to infiltrate wormhole corps. The point of view of a CEO dealing with new recruits from different backgrounds makes my skin crawl, I don't know how people manage to be diplomatic when dealing with whiners and arrogant fools. Of course you realise your own shortcomings too but it sounds like you learned a hell of a lot from this episode and are likely to take it on for next time.
Best of luck exacting retribution, I'd be interested in seeing how you progress further down the line. ~_~

Psycho female gamers and fat-beards are what keeps me in my little one man corp, your story just reinforces why my choice was a good one :P While being limited in what I can do to some extent, there's nothing better than not having to babysit a bunch of internet nerds day in and day out. I had enough of that in other MMOs, and it's the reason I've stuck with EVE so long...I can do what the **** I want, without any whiny *****es hounding me the second I log in for something.
Good read, keep us updated on how the carnage goes :P

Yeah DT has is a good storyteller lol.
Mind, it's just 1 side of the story(his). We'll see how much money we can make him spend in dis 'war' of his.

Edited by: NobodyHolme on 26/05/2010 22:34:14 Yay, more wardecs.
Now, while the "carebears" park their stuff in fear of the "Permanent wardec" Dawntreader has threatened us with, we can actually shoot people.
I mean, the rest of you might actually be willing to leave your wormhole base and engage in some pewpew.
Moving on, I'm all filled up with the stuff the end of the (remarkably tear-free, after the professions of un-ending war and hate for all of us, props, DT) blog, and will note only that Mud dawg, Willa, and Chebri were swearing at the "Semi AFK" CEO for cutting them off from their base and logging off in alliance chat, which was fun. Interesting how they then managed to sneak into the wormhole which is closed off at this point, and get back out to empire with all the stuff in it...
Fakeedit: The requests for fuel supplies in alliance chat shortly before the POS offlined itself got missed too.
Realedit: Never fails to suprise me how well DT writes his blog. Must remember to put that bit in. Because I can. |

That was a good read but a few warning signs stood out from your side.
- You call yourself a pvp corp numerous times which doesn't sound accurate from your own description. Earlier you talk about having mixed pvp/pve intentions which sounds more real. Heaps of people call themselves PvP corps to puff out their chests and recruit hard core pvper's when really they are mixed pvp/pve corps. This can cause trouble when you recruit people based upon false expectations - they won't respect you and may well leaving taking all your stuff. Also it encourages unrealistic decisions and rooster syndrome as everyone goes around acting harder than they really are.
Btw in case you didn't know the last people you should trust are veteran pvpers - the other name for them is bitter vets. So recruit them at your peril.
- You mention a director getting upset at losing a Domi to a **** pve op. I understand your guy was ****ed but complaints like this really do deserve a htfu response when being mentioned at an alliance level. He choose to go on the ****ty op didn't he? As a corp leader you shouldn't be encouraging your members to make a big deal out of complaints like this - it is something to moan about in private not public.
Emo drama is the bane of a corp leaders life so you are probably best off discouraging your members from getting to emo over losses or in time you will reap what you sow.
- You mentioned that you wouldn't be posting in this thread which is emo. If you want to run a corp in Eve and make posts drawing attention to yourself you need to htfu.
I've only heard one side of the story but *if* indeed you are leaving behind hanging out in carebear alliances and making a move towards becoming a pvp corp then good luck. Been there and it sure was a great to leave behind being in a messy carebear alliance that thought it was something more.

Edited by: Jaxx Blackfox on 27/05/2010 03:45:34 I can understand your irritation at loosing your ships but your nominating yourself and corp for a fight you will soon find very long and taxing. You want to declare a permanent war on INDY at 50 mil a week, not to mention receiving counter dec's from all their friends. That's going to both add up very fast as well as prevent your corp from ever truly growing as you never know if the person joining up is a spy for said wars or not. Not to mention maintaining that Large POS of yours at 300 mil a month in fuel costs.
I lost some ships in that whole fiasco as well but ships are isk and isk can always be remade eventually. Learn from your mistakes of being too trustworthy, continue your operations as you got something good going on there regardless if your in an alliance or not and get over it. Your wasting too much isk over something so petty as the loss of a few ships. Permanent wars should be reserved for those that disband your alliance, still hundreds of billions of isk worth of gear, join the enemy and create a corp with your alliance's name to prevent you reforming under it again.

There are a lot of carebears in the alliance, but its a "friendly" collection of corps that can do what they want as long as they follow the non-strict rules. In low sec we're NRDS, in null/WH we're NBSI. That's it. Our WH members engage in battle as often as we find it, though we don't collapse our static a dozen times a day looking for it. There are overreactions and hurt feelings on both sides. I did like the description of this as "emo", lol. Anyway, its just a game, we don't need to act like every decision is a huge deal for the entire universe to care about. |

I do love it though, blaming everyone but himself or directors for giving out roles in a corp to one of the most critical pieces to keep W-Hole operations going the fuel! Have to say be thankful that it was just some ship losses and the POS being offline for how ever long it was, it could of been much worse. The un-anchoring of the structures, or even worse a total corp clean out. I've seen it happen in the past to people, and im sure I'll see it in the future.

This is kind of what makes me suspicious we're not being told the whole story. He's claiming that all the ships were gone, yet the POS modules were apparently untouched? If I had starbase equipment config role and was planning a corp theft, I'd grab a lot more than just the ships.

Good write up dude. Living out of a POS always needs some element of trust which is why u have to keep starbase config to a minimum if not just 1 person and maybe have a set of ship hangers with different access levels. EG. upto 2 weeks constant activity = recruit hanger / crappy t1 ships upto 3 months constant activity = agent hanger / t2 ships or faction stuff then director lvl for t3s/faction fitted/other expensive crap.
Also anchoring players own POS with password only known to them and Directors works well and denies a hostile force the place to set up a staging POS while they take over ur system.
If you got a static c3 exit isk shudnt be a problem for the players POS costs(maybe a c3 annom or 2 in fuel a month for a small pos with a few mods.)
