If you can't finish L4s don't try this alone. Get someone who can as backup.

Was going to edit my post with more details but it seems to not want to let me. So, here we go.
First pocket you'll be facing something like 6-10 375k bounty Gist battleships with light escorts. I have a fully-T2 Drake and I could handle agro reasonably. Second pocket, you'll meet 3 750k battleships with elite light escorts. After some time, something like 6 more battleships will arrive with more elite light escorts and some elite cruisers, and Overlord <Some name I forget> (a Domination commander). This room I had to run around a lot, but I managed to survive full room agro.
Reward is a +5 implant. (yes, the ones that sell for 100+mil). Bonus is some crappy 3% implant. Domination commander drops faction, but only dropped ammo when I killed him.

On top of that, in the second pocket are several scrambling frigs. I noticed a bit late, so at one point I warped out with just under 10% shield left on my passive drake That's also the point where I decided to call it for the night, I'll probably go back in my CNR tonight to clean it up (provided the mission doesn't get stealth 'fixed' today )

I don't see how they could 'fix' it anymore, unless maybe it gives you 2 +5 implants for an L2 storyline. >.>

I got the level 2 version which had about 7mil bounty in the first pocket and another 10mil in the second.. Wonder if that scales up for the level 3 one

Edited by: Mr Kidd on 27/05/2010 15:01:29 I see I'm not the only one with questions about this mission.
I'm currently grinding Caldari Navy to get to L4's. I've got 15mil SP so tanking l4's is not a problem. But since I can only do up to L3's for Caldari Navy then why is it giving me a mission with 5 BS's? This is the equivalent of a L4. I didn't stick around long enough to see if the frigates web/scram. I was not flying anything capable of tanking such a mission. My sympathies to the noobs trying to figure out how to do this one.
There is no entry on Eve-survival.org for this mission.

My previous response was in jest. My serious guess is that this mission is supposed to be an L4 storyline only (maybe even L5, it probably ranks among the easier L5's in difficulty; the implant reward does seem to support this theory) and CCP borked something with the assignment of these missions while they were ensuring it was 'working as intended' so it's getting offered as lower level storylines as well.

I believe this mission to be a level 5 storyline becuase 1) it gives a +5 implant and 2) it's harder than a level 4. Both times i have done it, ut's had a 6-7m bounty domination battleship in, that drops a Halo implant. (Alpha both times, but probably random).
Odd thing is it's being given to LEVEL 1 AND LEVEL 2 mission runners
I've got into it because i've bene helping them out. There's no way they can complete it.
So I guess I'll go run level 1-2 minmatar missions now. A +5 (120 million) a Halo (70 million) and 40m of bounty sounds tempting.

I don't know if this is a level 5 mission or at least not a l5 I've ever seen though I've only done a couple. It would be similar to an l5 in the fact that you're immediately aggroed by all spawned ships and there are subsequent spawns afterward. The l5's I've been on seem to have a lot more ships though. However, I don't believe it to be a hisec level 4 either. I lost a BS to this mission. I tank hisec l4's all day. My T2 drones hardly dented the frigates. Got a friend in a Tengu to help try to complete the mission. We're still in the process. However, I did come in with a salvager. Although he had aggro from all the npc, I also received aggro. No, there is something weird about this mission. It's sort of like sleepers. Since I've never done a lowsec or nullsec l4 I can't say for sure. But I do know this is not a hisec l4. If it is a hisec l4 we're all in a bunch of trouble because these npc killed my BS from 100km out.

The sec level makes no real difference to what you get inside the mission, only the reward.
Some null sec agents have a different mission pool e.g. anti-Concord missions.
It's standard practice for a level 5 storyline to give a +5 implant.
My Tengu (tech 2 fit, no faction) can tank the last pocket by virtue of orbiting the asteroid base at 70km with the afterburner on. The range means I don't even need to run the shield booster. Only the domination guy can get close enough to hit, and he has trouble vs the small sig size of the Tengu. Then I just lockon with scourge fury heavy missiles and take the NPCs down.
With a Navy Raven I would head away from the guys, set drones on the scram frigates and knock out the domination guy first as he hits really hard and doesn't have that much of a tank.
With a Torp Golem I would just faction tank it, lock on and fire. I'd drop from 3 target painters to 2, however, for an extra shield resist, due to the high incoming DPS. I might change from the usual 600-dps tank fit using a faction medium booster to a 1k+ tank highly unstable capacitor fit using an XL booster.
This is why I use a Tengu as you never need to faction fit it, and I don't like to faction fit in high sec. YAY for cheapass Tech 2 fit Tengu power. :-)

I got this from doing level 3s. I have a meta 3/4/t2 drake and about 2.8M sp. I was able to clear most of the first pocket but the second spawn of 3 BS which I could tank ok, but couldn't scratch.
I had a friend in an Armageddon come help me take those about, but he got fried by the second pocket. Between when he got aggro and I jumped in fifteen seconds later, he went from full shield to 50% armor, so we got out right quick. He solos Angel Extravaganza 4 in that ship, so that was something of a surprise.
Finally came back later and finished it off in a friend with a t2/faction/deadspace equipped Golem which handled it in style. I'd say you're very safe doing it in a well fit Marauder and probably a decently fit BS. The Armageddon I think was pretty run of the mill fit and didn't have superb skills backing it up, but certainly wasn't a slouch.
Hope that helps others who find themselves staring down a nasty BS spawn when the biggest ship you're used to seeing is a BC.

Should probably be ok, just make sure you primary the scrambling frigs that come with the second spawn in pocket 2 (on both occassions I ran this, I had 4 of them).
I completed it in my spidertanked CNR duo (mostly t2 tank mods, some meta 4). Pilot with aggro was permarunning booster, shield transport was active at least half the time and shield did go down to alarm level at one point (think that was just about when the named BS blew up, he puts out some respectable damage)

Wow, the comments about Tengus and Golems surprise me. I'm in the process of clearing it for the third time (first 2 were for other people, this time's mine. Decided now is a great time to work on my standing with Ishukone). And I'm using a T2-fit Drake. I'm tanking about 700dps vs Angels, and if I don't keep moving they will catch me and kill me, but it's not impossible.

well if they dont fix that quick, all empire carebear will pay the game with plex. perhaps few ship can solo it, but with a friend or alt with an osprey or exequror, a standard BS do it easy

Got 25m in bounty, a +5 implant (100m+) reward, faction BS dropped 150m module and all sorts of salvage. Made close to 300m in 30minutes wahoo!

Looks to me like that old bug cropped up where a mission designed for one particular level is suddenly accesible to all levels.
There was a mission against Drones a year or two ago that had the same problem.
This will be fixed, and considering the rewards involved and CCP's current stance against mission runners, it will be fixed quickly. |

If you report this mission as a bug to a GM, they will remove it even if it's underway and they won't give you compensation.
On the other hand, now you all know for sure they're aware of it and working on it so you don't have to report it.

Warped into first room, set drones on BS, found an interesting story on the forums. Totally forgot I was in the mission, Domi goes boom. Sold an old trimarked domi I don't use, bought a new domi, did the first room the right way.
Went into the second room, barely managed to kill the scramming frigs before warping out in 10% armor. Had a corpmate nearby with a guardian, we went in and took out the last room. 2x Local reps with 70%+ resis across the board, plus 3 reps from the guardian with a fourth one pulsing occasionally, and I was going to 40% armor and lower when they started target painting.
Looks to be a Lvl 5 without neuting towers, would <3 getting it again though.

Was able to kill 2x battleships each time before having to warp out again. The real sucky part is that 55km slowboat to the 2nd gate. Didn't get jack from the named >.< just a domi em scattering amp...
PS the Outlaws (Angel Mission) scram and web so kill them first then kill the officer as he hits hard. May be able to lewt before you have to warp out, maybe not.

Did the mission in a Dominix, got owned in second room, warped out with 50% in structure. Had a corpmate coming in a rattle and was just able to tank the whole room fast enough to we could kill stuff so the tank didn't break. Overlord dropped a tag, had a 12m bounty and had 2x tech 2 salvage loots. Mission reward: +5 memory implant (roughly 100m sell) Gas Cloud Harvester (600k) <<< YES why didn't I get a cool skillbook that could sell for mills??!! :p I believe, getting all the salvage together with bounty me & my corpmate made 100m each, a total of 200m if anyone would be able to solo this one.
I had angel version of it, although it seemed that the faction boss did odd damage.

Wow, this mission is eating a lot of BS.
Here, try this:
[Drake, Exploration] Power Diagnostic System II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Ballistic Control System II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Explosion Dampening Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile [empty high slot]
Medium Core Defence Field Purger I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I
Hobgoblin II x5
You'll still need to stay the edge of your range to minimize incoming damage (keep running), but I haven't had to warp out once. When you warp in to the second room, for god's sake don't sit still, align to the sun or something and keep running while firing.

For the second room it broke my alts 1200 dps tank based on eft 50/50 exp/kin damage profile and I had a shield tank. The second room couldn't break a 1400 dps eft 50/50 exp/kin shield tank. I blew up a couple of ships before warping out first time so take that into account. 10.1m bounty ship in second room. A drake or myrm tanking would work and then use other ships as dps. |

Edited by: Caleidascope on 29/05/2010 08:08:34 I am going to add my two cents.
A three days old player asks for help with storyline mission. Says there are bs in there. I got my L4 Raven (with wrong resists) so I pick up the call. They fleet me, off we go.
First room is not too bad. The feel is very L4 mission like. There are some frigs, some bc, some regular bs and a couple of gisti saints. I kill most of them. No problem.
Second room. Bad news. I remember 4 Gisti Cherubim and I think there was 4 Saints or Seraphim. 4 arch gisti cruisers. At least one scram frig and at least one web frig. When I warped in first time, I was able to get some distance, but I had second rate ammo (kinetic damage instead of explosive and wrong shield resists). So I did what I can and then warped out. When I came back, I warped and there are the Cherubims 20-30 km away, they started throwing Bane torps, that and other damage brought my shields down in no time. The second time I came back, I was watching the log, with two t1 explosive shield hardeners, I was getting 345 points of damage three times in a row. There was another 200+ of other damage, devastator cruise missiles and other stuff. The player, who invited me, found someone in a Drake. We finished the second room with Drake tanking the room, me in Raven and a rifter. We also had faction bs in second room. Our's was Overlord something, but description said: Domination Saint. I think 8.4 mil isk bounty, faction ammo, implant, some named modules.

Corp mate got this running L1s, and I called him a liar at first. The first room was a bit tough with my Typhoon due to the accel gate throwing me in right on top of everything, but the second one was pretty straightfoward with the starting distance I was given. I had a friend come in a few minutes after I took out the 7mil bounty and he helped me clean up the frigs and remaining BS.
Obtained a Domination 100MN AB and a Domination Heat Dissipation Field from the high bounty, and a +5 implant for a reward, as everyone's been saying. A pretty nice haul for a small team.
Still...there's no way that L1s are meant to get this mission.

I got this mission today from level 1 agent. I increase standing for one amarr NPC corp and I run these low level missions in zealot with heavy pulses, shield extender, AB, web, 4 heat sinks, 2 overdrives and damage control. So i warped in the first pocket. I was little bit surprised by BS in "level 1" mission, but after 10 minutes pocket was clear. Then I warped into second pocket, aligned to planet and started shooting incoming frigates. I killed three frigates but damage was too high so I warped out with shield at 20%. Then I warped in again and things went from bad to very bad . I landed right in the middle of group of BS, I managed to get the full speed before they locked but I didnt noticed that I am flying straight into the group of frigates. Got 2x web = almost stopped, 2x scram and died in 10 seconds.

I also never received part 1 of what is obviously a 2 segment storyline mission set. I put a ticket in as I don't want to take a faction hit because CCP can't write code.
On a side note, I didn't loose a ship as I knew something was up when a warped in. That much red and big red at that meant something was obviously wrong.

Best fun I have had in a long while, most lvl v's have nuets so require gimped passive ships, this was all out Active tank and gank. Second time did it alone in my trusty old kronos with pimped fit.

I could clear all but last three BS using a Vexor in first room.Had to get help. Then we went intot the second room. Wasn't so bad until we left and had to return.
THEY WAS WAITIN' FER US! I could go in with Vexor and last maybe 30 seconds before I had to warp out. My friend in BS would only last a minute and three times they got into his hull. No ship losses but lots of repairs for him (I run rep'rs "just in case...".
Finally finished it with a my Vexor and a buddy with a Paladin - and we still had to go back several times as he could only tank for about two minutes. Finally killed enough that we could stay in and finish them off.
Got the +5 implant but no Gas cloud harvestor. About 18M ISK in my half of the bounties, tho

Can we say ashats?
Yes ladies and gentlemen, this expansion is not the industry expansion it was made out to be. It is the mission nerf expansion. Not much point playing this game any longer.
I am not criticizing you and I am not promoting this particular move by CCP. I have a question though. Why not ask for help in local or in your corp? I mean, they did not do this to all the missions and this is storyline mission which might or may not come up every 16 missions. So. Why not to ask for help?

Asking for help is not the point. Personally, I tank l4's all day. Does this mission even belong in a l1 and l2 mission category? It doesn't even belong in a l4 mission category.
Seriously, if CCP's intent is to raise the bar and make missions more difficult so that they can't be completed by a missioner then what's the point in striving to overcome their difficulties.
With the recent mission assignment changes and this addition to l1 l2 mission categories, if you have negative standings and desperately need to raise them it's going to be impossible.
Really....WTF is CCP smoking. I want some it.

I was just offered this as a level 2 Storyline (ouch). I did not accept it. I filed a petition and politely asked that I be offered something else. I was asked for the agent that I was missioning from BEFORE I was offered the storyline and the GM was able to assign me something realistic.
Two pencils, sharpened to a razor-like point, are my only defense. |

I got offered this mission while running Level 1 Sisters of Eve agents. I'm able to run L5 missions so doing it wasn't much of a problem. I just wished that the overlord had dropped something good instead of a domination armor hardener.

One thing that this mission is doing successfully is bringing normally solo mission runners to work together, in the system I was in last night many calls for help were being answered and the mission being done in groups, surely this is a good thing. The rewards are sufficient for 3 or 4 players to get a decent return plus learn how the mission running endgame looks. I hope CCP has the foresight to keep it as a feature.
Actually it takes me back 5 years to when I joined a group of 15 vets and Rookies to do the huge Amarr fleet on that lvl 2 mission, cant remember the name, the fleet isn't a mission requirement but it will attack if approached. as a week old rookie,I was in awe of the Raven spewing Torps at the huge battleships well over 100km away (pre nerf) the rest of us were dying like flies.

I see your point, but for this 'feature' you don't need such an overwhelming force against you as a lvl 1/2 mission runner.
I got this mission when doing lvl 2 missions and although I'm thankful I got some guys to help me, it wasn't fun at all for me: I did no DPS at all against these battleships, I had to run mostly to avoid getting ganked. When I did target an elite frigate I could handle, it was one-shotted by the other guys. No fun at all, just confrontation how lowly you and your ship still are. It's a bug. |

Who gives out this mission? I've done quite a few missions for CN but never gotten this one.. sounds interresting :)
I guess it's a storyline?
I've a lvl 4 Fed navy agent too.. better chance there?
Thanks in advance

It's given by an 'important storyline' mission agent (the type you get after the every 16 missions).

Didn't had the switch primary, thank god no, because my replacement BS was really crappy while a Paladin barely was able to tank the 2nd room with 2 remote reps on it.
The strange thing was when I went back in with help this time, there where no warp scramming frigs whatsoever. But when i went in for the first time I had 6-8 frigs, 2 warp scramming, 2 jamming me and the moment I set my drones on them the jamming/ scramming frigs they stopped doing so and 4 others took over their job.
Must say, even tough I lost a T2 fit, with officer mods equipped BS, I cannot wait to get it again. :P

Edited by: Shave Well on 31/05/2010 15:11:53 HI!
Did this mission 2 days ago and it was reaally a good mission to run: difficulty and bounty. All Lvl4's should be like this :).
I ran this mission against angels (don't know if there is another version) and i made it safely and without warping out. 1st Pocket is easy...and i won't say nothing about it.
2nd Pocket was a lot difficult: 1. Killed cruisers first because they use target painters and frigs/BSes are triggers. 2. Meanwhile, i was always aligned to a space object and tanking was holding fine. 3. I decided to kill all close range BSes (Malakims) and decided to clear the frigs afterwards. 4. Then i cleared the remaining BSes. (There were 2 spawns afterwards, i think)
From my experience from 0.0, i know that the higher bounty angels BSes do EM Damage (Cherubins f.ex.) so i fitted my CNR with Omni tank and T1 Ammo.
HIGHS: 7x Cruise Missile LAunchers T2 1x HEavy Nosferatus
MIDS: X-LArge Shield Booster DG Shield Boost Amplifier 1x Expl Active Hardener T2 1x Kin Active Hardener T2 2x Invuln T2
LOWS: 4x BCS T2 1x PDS T2
5x Hoboblins T2 5x Warriors T2
This is a rather challenging mission and i have good skills...so this could be very difficult for a Low SP pilot.
Cheers

Helped two people finish this today, both times were against Angels. Very easy mission to solo in anything passive tanked. Killed off the elite frigs like usual and I could outrun or tank all the damage flying manually in my Tengu. If anyone knows how to receive this offer I'd appreciate the info, I wouldn't mind a free +5 implant.

I thought it was a blow over lvl 1 mission so I fit a comedy shield tank (couldn't be assed to fly 16 jumps and back to pick up a nanobot injector) Shield tank broke, started scratching my armor, so I flew and fit a dual tank. Completed it very very slowly. I love my companion cube. The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie. |

I also got this mission, I believe it was only my second 'important' storyline mission ever received by this pilot who is about a week old. After losing my ship and realizing there was no way I could handle it and then finding this thread I petitioned and the GM removed the mission from my journal and replaced it with the mission I should have received. No standing loss but quite a beating isk-wise for a new pilot.

Completed quite easily in a Tengu. Some of the frigates in the first room are triggers. Full aggro DPS is very high, over 12 BSes in the last pocket.
Faction spawn @ 9.3m was nice 25m bounties total and some faction drops

I received this one as a lvl5 storyline today. Very strange as in the past I've only gotten mining missions for lvl5 storylines. It was somewhat difficult but I was able to solo it with a paladin after a couple warp outs. The first room was easy but the second one quickly got out of hand with several high end BS spawns. The officer npc dropped a tag, domination thermal hardener and 1000 rounds of faction ammo. Salvaging said officer npc gave one intact trigger unit and one normal armor plate. The mission reward was a +5 charisma implant (standard for lvl5 storylines) and a +3% booster hardwiring as a bonus (not standard at all).
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

I received the mission yesterday. I fly an Apocalypse and my friend was in a Megatron. No success.. we decided to run other L4.
But I still have this storyline to do so I tried alone 10min ago. Pocket 1 is np, pocket 2....I lost my Apo :(
I can't fly a Drake nor a Tengu nor t2 BS. I am interested in seeing a working fit for an Amarr BS if someone has one.
I was so happy to get a storyline cause I'm looking to increase faction standing with Ammatar, Amarr and Caldari (got the mission from an Ammatar Consulate agent). If I fail, I will be under -5 with Amarr... :(

You should be able to retrieve your ship at "Tidacha VIII - Moon 13 - Ammatar Consulate Bureau".
The salvage team could not find any items that were ejected from your ship prior to its apparent destruction so if you were not able to retrieve the cargo canisters there is sadly nothing we can do.

Had to jump my mission running main in his CNR (18 jumps away) to complete it, but was oh so pleased with the bounties, +5 implant, hardwiring, and two Domination mods (including a handy Domination Invul). I had to warp out several times in the CNR as my cap was running out with the shield booster running the whole time. I didn't quite expect it from a level 1 storyline, but I'm certainly not complaining.

If the petition is still open ask for clarification as to why you're not getting your ship back. If it's closed file another.
I asked for clarification on my petition and while they did not address the mission they did reimburse the ship.....it was a different GM.

Npc ships can change targets and can blow up ships not originally agroed. Blew up a players cruiser while I had full agro. The frigates are on the harder to kill side of frigates. Full agro in second room at warp in pretty much. A slight pause between spawns in second room. Domination faction battleship in second room have seen 3.75m-10.1m bounty. Mission isn't hard to solo, if you are able to do lvl4 missions, on the other hand the one I completed was a mission of my friend who was doing L1 missions in a rifter :D.
First pocket is easy, second was tough, had to warp out my Maelstrom couple of times and that was it.

When I saw accts of incoming damage, I dedided to ask for help. Friend came in a Maelstrom which he uses for bonus pocket of Angel X. Second pocket is a bit crazy. He drew primary aggro, and I got the aggro from the Named and the 3 Cherubims. Aggro never switched around. I would have lost a Megathron if I had went in solo. Mission completed, named dropped a Domination AB.

I agree with this completely - I've been in more mission fleets in a day to do this mission than i would have usually done in a week , mostly with green pilots who are getting their first fleet experience and a nice isk boost into the bargin.
i would absolutely recommend that any new pilots getting this ask in local or corp for some help (or just convo me if I'm on i'm happy to help). For those wondering who gives it it seems to be SOE storyline agents in my experience - can anyone confirm or deny? Anyway off to do another one with a mate in my logistics domi, hopefully we'll measure the dps in the second room and I'll report back.

Edited by: Chakarr on 01/06/2010 12:16:59 I got this yesterday from a minmatar storyline agent after grinding level 3's...
Just flew there in my Jag and was quite a shock seeing battleships in the first room, so flew back and got my Varg, first room was no problem killed all the frigs and dessies first which triggered more saints to spawn, I only use a T2 tank (2 invuls, XL T2 booster, T2 shield amp, max cap skills + 1 ccc rig) but it handled all the aggro just fine.
Second room I mistakenly all popped frigs and cruisers first ignoring the BS, triggered all the spawns and had 12x BS aggro including a domi saint, had to warp out once and nearly hit armour several times, running the RF AB mitigated a lot of torp dps but it was still very *heavy*.
Roughly 25 mil in bounties, +5 WP implant, gas cloud harvester, a tag, a few meta 4 guns and launchers, a ton of salvage, some faction ammo and a domination scram for my troubles, oh and only lost one T2 med drone...I want to do it again

Need some info about this mission, i fly a cnr
7 X CN Cruise launchers 2 X invul 1 x Photon 1 X X-Large Shield Booster II 1 X Shield Boost Amp II X Cap Recharger II
Can i tank this mission with this fit ? Doesnt seem like i can do it considering everyone who soloed somehow faced alot of problems.
Thinking of looking for a tanker to do it with me, rattlesnake or drake would work fight? And also what are the triggers in the second room ? The frigs or the BS?
Info on how to do it safely is appreciated.

I ran the mission with two ships (CNR + Gila) and experienced no target switching nor drone aggro. The CNR was equipped to RR the Gila, but that turned out to be unneeded, because the second spawn aggroed the CNR. With split damage and lots of my own DPS, tanking was pretty easy. I'm guessing this would be tougher to solo than the AE Bonus Room, but not undoable. It's tough for me to really say, though, because the split aggro makes it difficult to get a feel for how much dps was incoming.

No, you won't. Cherubins and probably the Domination do EM damage and they hit hard Explo and Kin also. I think 2x Invulns are not enough imo. Did it twice already, solo and without warping out with: 1x Explo 1x Kin 2xInvulns (all T2).
I think i put wrong information in my post before this one: 1 of the cruisers (there are only 3)after being killed triggers a new spawn. 1 of the frigs also triggers a new spawn. I don't think that any of BSes triggers a new spawn. So if you can tank the initial spawn just kill the BSes and go down from there...
Cheers

As a fairly weak L3 mission runner (1.3M SP) I got this storyline mission .. needless to say that I think the game is a little bugged as it's more of a L4 mission. I still cleared the 1st room (after 1 hour) but could just warp out with 50% hull left when I entered the 2nd ..
Weird ..

First pocket is easy, second was tough, had to warp out my Maelstrom couple of times and that was it.
I've had it confirmed by a GM that this is indeed a L5 storyline mission, I would not categorize it as a soloable l4 mission without some heavy skills.....a lot of us don't have those.

I got offered this mission while slaving L1's to get to a good L3 agent. I was in the middle of an L1 when this one came up, and thought no problem, I'll take care of it right now in my Coercer.
Warp in with my Coercer, omfg get the hell out of here now.
Come back in my Armageddon, lasts about 30 seconds before getting down to 50% armor, omfg get the hell out of here now.
The corp I'm wanting to join lends a helping hand and sends a drake, raven, paladin, and some other uber variation of a Brutix (I think) and helps me complete it. In the middle of that mess my Armageddon gets into hull damage and catches fire.
I got: -An uber implant selling for 95 million but I end up selling for 108 million. -Another uber implant that's on the market right now for about 65 million. This one was in one of the loots! Check every wreck for it! -Some crazy bounty amounts. -A repair bill for 10 million for the burning geddon. ____________________

Well.. i just filed a petition.. hopefully I'll atleast get my Gila back. It cost me alot to get a second and fit it up after losing the one in this mission. With how new to the game that I am the ship and fittings for the one that I lost was about 200-250mil.. so I spent roughly 400-500mil total for both. Which screwed me over alot since I was saving for better stuff and a plex(even though I sold 2 plex's to get the money in the first place, but thats beside the point)

Going to hang on to it since I can get reinforcements in to take it down.
If this is by design (level 4/5 difficulty in the level 1/2 rotation), the person who decided it's by design probably needs a good Nerf Vulcan unload on them. - I blame stompy for any confusion I might have caused. |

Take your gang in and enjoy yourself, you will learn a lot and be rewarded. The mission yields over 200 mill in total, plenty even for a large gang to share.

Been reading the other posts in this thread and folks have made mention of warp scrambling frigates. We jumped in and out at least 5 times and never ran into any of them. It must vary from person to person?
Is this why people have been losing so many ships? By being scrambled (warp)? ____________________

I have done it 6 times now and had webbers and scramblers in the second room each time.
They are Elite frigs and hard to kill for lo skill T1 weapons. I was stuck for ages with my T2 Hammers, long after all the BS and cruisers were down. switching to Warriors on subsequent missions did the trick.

LOL, this is true, about the increased influx of +5 implants into the market. I got mine from this mish on Saturday I think and saw that I could sell it for 95 million right away. Instead, I placed a sell order at 112 million. I slowly brought it down to match or beat other sellers and eventually sold at 108 million.
Question: I got the +5 social implant. Did everyone get those or did everyone get a mix of all different types? ____________________

So everyone is saying what they ran it with. The people asking what gives this mission have not been answered.
1.) Is this mission specific to a given faction (if so which faction)?
2.) Is this mission specific to a certain mission level (if so which one)?
Thank you for your time.

Over the last few days, I've done this mission roughly 4 times. Seems to pop up at least once a day somewhere among all the people I know.
It's been given to people as young as 8 days old and seems to cost people ships the first time they try it if they are not used to high dps + warp scrambles. No matter what level they were doing, the mission is always the same.
The solution for us has been to send in a high resist passive Drake to get all the aggro, followed shortly after the full pocket spawns by an Osprey to remote shield rep the drake (3x medium shield reps staggered a couple seconds to assist the passive tank's regen) and then bring in a raven or two to deal damage. Occasionally, we've had a ship change it's target, which keeps the Osprey on it's toes, but once the battleships start going down, the dps becomes a lot more manageable. First rule of thumb is to kill the frigates ASAP. If you see one of the cruisers target paint or web, it's next, but work on the battleships as soon as you can to reduce their damage (Especially Overlord Whatshisname) |

I have a friend thats going to do it with me using a fully tanked passive drake. Now the problem lies with room 2. How much dps is the initial wave giving out? I heard some ppl here saying shoot the frigs and cruisers first but there are some that say the frigs and cruisers are the triggers. Would'nt that spawn even more battleships?
Also what is the real bounty of this mission, some say its close to 200m some say its closer to 40m. My version is the angel cartel version and i got it while doing L4 missions for CN. My strategy for the second room would be the drake goes in to tank everything while we kill the BS.

The bounty? About 30 mil isk.
The total reward, after selling all the implants and hardwire, 200+ mil isk.
I ran the second room with a drake for partner, the drake had some trouble, so let the drake assign targets and you in a ship fitted for offense kill those targets.

Edited by: Emisune on 02/06/2010 04:33:08 I can confirm that this mission is given by at the least SoE, Brutor Tribe, Ishukone and Minmatar Mining Corp. It seems to be fairly random, and available to anyone at any level.
I've now run it 10 times in my Drake (9, solo). I've lost a total of 3 HobIIs because I wasn't paying attention. 8 newbies are enjoying their +5 payday. I got one for myself, and had one taken off me by a GM.
I also suspect that there are no triggers in this mission. It is my distinct impression that the spawns are entirely time-based. The first room is easy enough, and the "trick" to the second room is keeping your range. As soon as you warp in, turn directly away from the packs and run for all you're worth. It's highly likely that at some point ships will start tethering back to the warpin (or their original positions), but by then you should have a significant number of BSs down (it goes without saying all the scram/web frigs should be dead - also worth noting, these are the SECOND group of elite frigs. The first 4 haven't scrammed or webbed me any time I've attempted this). Then it's just a matter of heading back and picking the BSs off one by one. Another thing possibly worth noting - Overlord Sgnard can probably do close to 1km/sec. You will in all likelyhood have to kill him relatively quickly to keep down incoming damage (normally, I kill the first BS I see, then I kill Sgnard, while using my drones to take out frigs).
I've linked the Drake setup I'm using before. It tanks approx 710dps vs Angel damage profile. It's got 58km range with Scourge Fury missiles. Of the 10 times I've attempted this, only 3 have been even slightly challenging (2 where people had jumped into room 2 beforehand and left the whole room on the warpin, one where I cut corners too quickly and had to warp out, of course all the BSs were sitting on warpin when I got back). In this situation, I've killed all web/scram frigates and as many other small ships as I could, then jumped in with my assault frigate (Hawk, running AB and T2 small booster) to pull them away from warpin.
Now that I've got all that info out of the way: In all likelyhood, this mission will be fixed in 1.01. So, you've got a few hours left.

It seems to me that the spwans are time based as well. I have been farming 2 instances of this mission over the last few days, because the bonus timed reward was crap. With my group, we have a Golem tanking, and blowing everything nearby up, and a Tengu blowing stuff up. We've had several variances in the bounty on Sgnard in the end, 2x of 11.6m, 1x of about 7m, and 1x of 9.3m. 3 of the kills of him have been crap, just 1000 arch angels ammo, and a bunch of meta 1 junk, but the 4th run overall was a 11.6m bounty, and a Domination Warp Disruptor.
The Tengu focuses all of the frigs down as soon as it hits the grid, however the Golem has never been webbed or scrammed even by the frigs that get in close. It is a tough mission, the Golem is tanked with A-type hardeners, and a CN XLSB, and still has to warp out due to cap issues. Sgnard is VERY fast, and can apply VERY high DPS at close range.
Great mission I hope they don't 'fix' it in 1.01 -------------------

TBH my statement is based on nothing more than guesswork. CCP have known about this issue for a week, they've been working on it, and here's a patch. I imagine they'll probably remove it from people's logs, but I can't be sure and I haven't been around long enough to know what their normal system is for fixing bugged missions.

Woohoo! some ammo! and a tag.
The last room is a little abrasive, for sure. My little Osprey couldn't tank one of the spawns long enough to kill it, so I had to run a Mael t2 xlsb on full for a while, which needed the cap booster on full too. A bit worse than AE bonus, probably best to bring a friend unless you've some huge turtle tank.

True as that is, its not listed in the patch notes so (i hope) its not removed.
As far as offered missions, if this patch fixes things, I do not think offers would be removed (they would just change it so it wasn't offered anymore - not do extra work to clear out a few offers).
I would assume its the corp that the storyline agent is with, not the corp you run the regular missions with? I bought a retribution just to farm lvl 1 missions and try to get this storyline, with no success.
PS: if you need help, send me a msg in game. I fly a paladin and can probably help you out. I am also hoping to get a nanite control book.

Just finished it yesterday with a friend in a drake. He had a 875 dps omni tank as we heard the damage in the room was kinda bad and all kinds were dealt.
No problem with the first rooms as said. In the second room, we killed all the frigs first. The first wave of frigs did not web/scram as we killed them far away. The second wave of frigs did scarm. The frigs are tougher then the normal ones you see in your mission. Even with drone interfacing 5 and T2 drones it takes some time. My friend with HMLs did short work of them.
I focused on the bs and primaried the overlord when he was 10 km in range. Some ppl have said it would try to get out of range when you hit his armor but since he was so near he could'nt run far. And confirming that the overlord is very fast. After taking him down you just have to take down the remaining bs. Not as hard as some ppl say. You just need a friend.

That's what it's all about, right? Find a way to overcome. Find the solution, whether it be a group of m8's to spider tank the hell out of it or w/e, the point is that it's a challenge... and that exactly what we needed. Thank you.

I have to say I agree with this. I soloed the entire thing in a ranged (137km missiles, 105km drones) Typhoon. It was a bit slow going, but once the range was up, the damage coming in was pretty easy to handle. The only problem was that the rats in the second pocket roam. When you jump, you could be anywhere from <10km to 30km away. I had the nooby I was running it for suicide a shuttle and then keep an eye on them from his pod so I would know when to warp in. The final pocket dumped me 60km away, so no issues there.
The Overlord in the final pocket was quite fast...the only ship keeping up with me. By the time he went down, however, I pretty much took 0 damage while I sniped everything.

This is not the first time a mission has been misplaced and properly will not be the last.
The concept about promoting team play is a good one, sadly, this mission seems too profitable for those who can do it alone (an alt is still you). Further, that makes it far too easy to farm when included in the storyline mission pool for level 1, 2 and 3, and the risk/reward people will go completely bananas hearing about this.
Having it in the level 4 storyline mission pool on the other hand would be very nice, maybe with low probability and a warning sign.

Just soloed this in a drake. For part 2 I hit the afterburner and killed the rogues first, to prevent warp scram.. I flew away from the angry red blob and torched the fastest battleships first, then swung around for my faction loot. After that I warped, stashed my loot in station, and came back for the other 6 ships.
7 heavy launcher II Drone link aug
Kinetic Damp amp II Ballistic damp amp II Invul field II 2 large shield extenders
3 shield relay II BCU II
3 med shield recharge rig thingamajigs, forgot name
Used regular heavy kinetic missiles
My take came to about 150 mill

Edited by: vitaminK on 03/06/2010 17:02:11 From all the experiences helping beginners and drop confirmations, this about sums it up. It's just as simple as any level 4 solo with the right setup, in this case a passive shield or stable active Angel tank being the prerequisite. The majority of the damage can be easily mitigated as already mentioned just by keeping distance. So either fly something smaller and more agile or be skilled enough if you prefer battleships. Regardless it is not difficult in any sense contrary to what some here believe. Originally by: "Me" dude, i'm 5 months. you're dying, wat?
The mission rewards range from +4 to +5 implants with the Overlord having a chance to drop faction modules. The only downside to this mission is the ridiculous amount of profit people can make solo, although it is somewhat balanced by the random chance to receive this offer while doing level 1-3 missions. The total amount of time required also help balance considering the length of level 4 missions and profits without relying on probability. Seeing as the patch did not change this, here's hoping +5 implants will be more affordable once the market is saturated.
Originally by: "GM Guard" I must ask you not to use the petition option like this again but I personally would finish the chicken sandwich first so it won¦t go to waste.

I've completed this mission 3 times so far in my Navy Mega. Room 1 is a breeze; they never even got to my armor (fyi for n00bs Mega is armor tanker). Room 2 is harder than any L4, but doable. Comparable to L4 AE bonus room and Recon 1. Loot has been decent so far but nothing worth over 100M has dropped for me yet.
I'm sure this is a bug, but I'm elated that it's out there. Eve has been boring me lately and this is shaking things up a bit. It also has the wonderful side-effect of encouraging n00bs to seek out and team with vets to get the mission completed. All the scamming in the game tends to encourage isolation.
I hope they leave this "feature" in for a few weeks. Makes the game more interesting.

L1 here.. running a Kestrel (woo fresh off the boat).
Got this mission doing L1's, warped in, hit the first gate, and went O.O . Took out 3 or 4 frigates from long range (missiles :)), then got hit by a bs. Knocked me down to 50% armour in one or two shots. I warped as fast as I could.
Put in a petition to make sure when I get it next time, I'll be able to get the time reward (gas cloud harvester). GM cleared it immediately, and made it so the agent gave me the proper mission.
It looks like this will probably be getting "fixed" with all these reports, as I am now doing agent missions through the same agent that are in fact Level 1 missions.
I'm kinda sad over it, actually, I would've liked to have been able to come and do this later on. Hopefully they leave it in in some form.

Hmmm, I have just turned down my 5th storyline mission from the caldari navy and still no 2/2. Been working for home guard and space lane patrol running lvl 1-3 missions. Had a storyline of each level, all of them crappy.
Should I run the 25ish or so jumps out to SoE/Matar/Amarr or do ya'll think I'm just having horrid luck? |

Posting to confirm that myself and my corpmates are late to this party and are currently spamming Level 1 missions like there's no tomorrow - can someone tell me whether or not this is still being offered?
I've heard a disturbing comment that CCP might have fixed it during downtime last night.
Any info?

Hi!
Just finished doing the Search Party mission - would really like to help anybody out who wants to do it. I will travel. After jumping 21 gates for an alliance member, I did it in under 30 minutes. I will tank you can do whatever you feel like doing, or I can pay you 10-15 million for the mission + you keep the 155 mill implant sit back and drink a fruity Umbrella Drink in station. You keep the reward... everything is negotiable. Also, I will give you a guaranteed ship replacement program if you decide to join in on the fight.
PM me - on 23 hours, I live in Eve for real :) |

As in, how many storylines did it take before receiving the offer for this one?

One person I know has gotten 3 storylines since he started missioning in EVE - The Search Party (2 of 2), The Search Party (2 of 2) and The Search Party (2 of 2).
On the other hand, I've gotten it twice from probably 10+ storylines. Welcome to the wacky world of pseudo-random number generators.

No, it's not only in gallente and minmatar space.
A lot of people in this thread, myself included, have reported this mission in other regions.
Myself, Lonetrek region. Some people have gotten it from nullsec agents.
It's more common when your storyline agent is an encounter-heavy one (such as the security division one in lonetrek for the caldari navy) - I blame stompy for any confusion I might have caused. |

I've mentioned using AFs before in the second pocket, with the big bold disclaimer that I kill all the small trash first because AFs aren't partial to elite webbing/scraming frigs. But I only use my Hawk to drag them off the warpin, not to kill things.

I did about 20 level 1 storylines for Ammatar Consulate in order to fix Amarr standings because of Wormholes. Yes that's a lot of mind-numbing missions, but works great when really watching the tourney.
I only got this one once.
But the EVE random number generator hates me, so your mileage may vary.
A fast Ishkur worked fine for clearing the two stages of elite frigs. Then I called in two alliance mates for sharing the joy. The one in the Hurricane brought enough additional damage to take them down.
Didn't get any faction loot from the officer wreck. See above re EVE random number generator.
