My mighty one man corp declared war on the Curse Alliance. Immediately 3 corps within the CA surrendaered, including Supremecy. There is no reparations or loss to the surrendering corp. There should be some gain to the corp that has been surrendered to or at least a loss to the corp that surrenders. It is far to easy now for a corp to just surrender, dock for a day and the war is over as if it had never occurred ( the declarer is out 1,000,000 isk though).
This needs to be fixed as it is a joke. At least before the two CEOs had to agree to end the war, now it is just a click and it is over.
An alliance could spend a fortun to declare war and the other alliance just has to surrender with no loss and the declarer would lose all of the isk that was required to declare war.
This was not an alt corp btw.
Do others believe that this needs to be addressed and fixed.
cheers

seems to have gone from one extreme to the other. either make wars free again with the option to surrender with say a 3 day waiting period or make the daily charge of 1 mil and have it so you cannot surrender. preferabley the latter. ---
Was it good for you? |

I don't think they surrendered to you, they probably left the alliance. ______________________________________________

All war costs up to that point could be billed to the surrendering corp or customised terms (ISK) set by the declaring corp.

He didn't declare war on the corps, he declared war on an alliance.
The alliance hasn't surrendered. ______________________________________________

The answer above is correct, you declared war on an alliance......ie., many, many corporations. The fact that a small few of the member corps immediately "surrendered" only means they have much more important things to do than swat small, single person corps around all day when they're obviously not worth the time and effort.
But fear not, oh warring one....if it's a fight you want, it's a fight you shall have. Come on out and travel around Curse space (try to live for more than an hour in the most heavily populated areas), and if you make it deep enough into the region and you run across me....I'll try my best to give you the pod-ride you seem so eager to receive
If you're not man enough to leave the safety of empire space....then stay on the porch with the rest of the poodles like a good boy and quite bothering us with your sabre rattling and knob bobbing

I have fought in CA regions for a long time especially in 2003 and early 2004. It was/is a pain sitting outside stations waiting for CA to undock, or worse waiting for two blobs to decide to attack each other. Empire wars are far far more fun.
The surrenders has nothing to do with egos, it has to do with mechanics. A corp should not be able to simply surrender without some type of penalty or compensation to the declaring party. They should not be able to avoid an empire war just by clicking "surrender".

A whole million isk eh..
Anyhow, the corps probably needed to do some spring cleaning or internal restructuring. They can't do that if they are part of an alliance or if they have wars running. Thus for a measly mil you've sabotaged 24 hours of productivity.
One point awarded for the forces of uncertainty and chaos.

Penalties for surrendering would effectively be concord-sanctioned piracy. I'm not encouraging consensual pvp of course, but you pretty much have a free ride to get concord out of your hair as it is.
It's annoying enough as it is to go through the surrender process. It's pretty easy and cheap way to grief a corp's ability to function bureaucratically as well.

Hate to say this but i have to stick up for CA for a second. First off these corps did not surrender, second off they left the alliance so that they can declare war on otehr alliances for a LOT less isk than the allicane declaring war on other alliances. So no they did not surrender, they left the alliance.

My Corp was sent formal surrender notices from each of the 3 corps in question. The exception to this could possibly be the generation of a formal surrender to all of the Alliances enemies whenever a Corp leaves an Alliance when it is at war. I am not sure about the game mechanics on this tbh.
This can be seriously abused if for example SA declares war on CA and spends the required monies (10-50 million isk or whatever) and then CA simply surrenders and laughs at SA wasting 50 million isk.
It is now too easy for any Corp (or Alliance for that matter) to avoid Empire warfare by simply surrendering with no cost or inconvenience.

And it costs far too little at the moment, for a single corporation to prosecute war against an entire Alliance.
I agree that surrender should not be free. However, I think the fee to declare war should be either: [# declarer corps in alliance] * 1,000,000 isk or [# of target corps in alliance] * 1,000,000 isk; whichever is greater. This would prevent alliances from declaring wars on single corps as well as preventing this ridiculous business of single-man/alt corps from declaring wars on alliances (unless they're really serious about prosecuting the war).
Think about it, a single corp having same war declaration status as a nation-state? That's like Ishukone declaring war on the Gallente Federation, or France declaring war on Microsoft! It's simply silly.
