Hi everyone.
The EVE TV team would like to pass on our apologies for the issues viewers encountered while watching today's stream of the Alliance Tournament. We had several drops in the stream that resulted in a restart of the feed which combined with the built in delay ruined the enjoyment of several matches. We also had audio sync issues throughout the day.
The team here has investigated these issues and we've now made several changes that we believe will solve these problems. We also have several action points ready to be used if we encounter similar problems tomorrow.
I'd also like to add that we have no reason to believe that any of the issues were caused by Own3d.tv and they have been very supportive in helping us identify issues in the setup on our end.
We hope you'll tune in tomorrow to enjoy day 6 of the tournament.

It always amazes me how you CCP, says things like they are and don't wrap the problem in bad excuses.
However sad it was that the stream broke a few times, it was still a joy to follow.
Keep it up, as i've seen others write aswell you should switch to twitch next year.

it's not broken into single fights i'm sure that will come on youtube later on, it does take a big effort to edit all that :)

In addition to the drops and the audio desync there was also a 50hz hum in the left audio channel. Did you notice this as well? |

Second the twitch.tv over own3d. Twitch has an iOS app and hate them or not apple devices cannot watch the stream due to not running flash.
There may be a hack out there or something but cutting out millions of potential mobile users is bad.
Was ccp aware that you can't watch own3d on your iphone4s but you can watch twitch on a dedicated app before committing to own3d and why did you pick them over twitch.tv?
Just curious behind the thinking on that one... |

Great to hear, the audio sync was driving me up the wall.
You guys feel good about the setup scaling to the 30k+ viewers the finals may draw? It was great the first 2 weekends, but it didn't seem to be many more people watching yesterday. Was just odd. |

I know its not CCP fail the stream fails over and over.. and i know CCP was most likely prmoiced perfection and given shame by own3Dtv..
Can we have a promise from you great guys and girls at CCP that own3Dtv will not be used again ever?

...and we miss the first match.. first one with 3 ..ok I'll fall for it ... first one with 3 "WIN"idcators in it!
Is it just me, or does the stream fail every time a Vindicator is about to make a kill? Every time Vindicators are on the field? Same issue as yesterday and the stream failed for the first time when a Vindicator was about to claim a kill... yesterday and today. Seems like someone doesn't want us to see Vindicators! {grin} |

could ccp, please explain why are they failing by outsourcing the stream to this fail host, who cant even keep a live stream up or have their audio sync'd (yesterday for the audio) instead of hosting it theirselves as they have been for the last alliance tournaments?
TLDR: own3D.tv sucks, ccp should host stream their selves, audio still sucks and WHY DID CCP DO THIS TO US |

Hi,
Not only is the stream dieing again (it always seems to go at the same time and come back at the same time)
The sound levels are also a bit ropey and every so often it just comes through distorted. |

The stream is not fixed, it has frozen at least 4 times since the AT X started broadcasting today. Get it fixed or postpone the tournament until it is. |

Well - I think this is FAIL of CCP. Why? Because they chose some strange third party stream platform. As far as I remember last year stream - ATIX was fine - so why change it? This year we got own3d.tv - low res, unstable stream - THIS IS FAIL OF CCP. |

Unfortunately the stream is still consistently laggy/choppy and still occasionally fails completely. It's a real shame because the production of this tournament is really a step above what we saw in previous years, but the delivery is terrible.

I hate to see the event getting close to ruin due to 3rd party mate, stream is worse today than yesterday with about 1500 less users online.
I realize its not much you can do, its not your service but for the sake of everything combustible I would strongly suggest thinking about a backup service because, which I'm sure you are perfectly aware of, come Finals Day we will be looking at 30k users...
Or worse actually, people will realize there is no use trying to watch it live and go do something else instead.

Mere human words just cannot accurately convey the incredible, massive amount of fail involved in this tragedy.
Whatever you supposedly fixed since yesterday (and I'm willing to bet it was absolutely NOTHING), it hasn't worked. You should just run the entire tournament and post the videos on youtube.
Unlike many of the other drones posting on here, who seem to want to lick you in special places and commend you on your hard work, I can't see my way to do anything but point out that you have not only epically failed in your presentation of this tournament, but you seem to be somewhat arrogant and unapologetic in this failure. Not to mention the complete waste of time this has been for people who set aside their weekends to watch this. |
