@CCP: Because of long term skill decision issues I really need to know, whats the new direction in Minmatar ship design?
I'd really love a new art dev blog! Will Minmatar still look more flimsy than solid? A lot of metal grids and more or less independent steel blocks colored in many tones of metal?
OR
Seeing the Loki and the Tyrfing now...will they look more solid and stylish - despite still low tec? Just as an example, the certainly well known and really (really) awesome Tempest MK 2 and the Typhoon MK 2.
I admit, I'd like the latter ^^ -

They defined the new Caldari style and you think they'll go for another race first, before redoing the raven, caracal, etc?

Wow those are some nice drawings. But to be honest, they look very Caldari. I don't look at them and think Minmatar. (Especially the Typhoon)
Also, those are not official concept arts (so no "sneak preview"). Those are fan arts made by a fellow player.

Terrible, keep hands off the Minmitar ships, go fly Caldari if you like that kind of model.

Too much smooth armor plates. Does not look Minmatar.

Looks just like the carriers and the hurricane. Nothing wrong with it.
Still... no. The plates look too thick and smooth, unlike the ones on the carriers and Hurricane. If he added some details or comes up with the finished product, maybe I would be convinced. However, at this moment, they look very Caldari. Additionally, I like the gaping maw of the Typhoon, changing it to a small carrier drone bay does not do it justice. I like the art works and I think they are very good. I just don't think they represent Minmatar very well.

You're forgetting it's only a drawing, he probably hasn't been using a messuring ruler when thinking about how thick the plates should be. They don't even look that much thicker than the models in game now.
It shares the plates with at least 3 of the minmatar ships, it has a similar style to the hurricaine with the front end opened up more for drone entrance, similar to the nid, but not quite as big (remember it's not a full sized carriers), and shares the bent in the middle shape of the Hel. ------

Edited by: Ti''anla on 01/06/2010 15:19:03 Wow, that... that's really rather nice o.o
Of course, there's still a certain romance to the 'explosion in a girder factory' look of holdovers from the Minmatar rebellion, and it'd be a shame to lose them but, maybe this'd work well for a T3 version of these ships?
But yeah, really nice work, whoever's responsible o.o

Wow, I have no words for how amazing that fanart looks. Do I ever think it will make it into the game? No. Would I train to fly Minmatar if it did? Yes.

I am not forgetting it is only a drawing. As I said, maybe if it gets some more details or become a 3-D model, I'd change my mind. But as of now, it does not look minmatar.

they're nice drawings but I really prefer the way these ships look ATM and don't see any need for a radical design change
I don't even like the Scorpion redesign that much, yes it looks cool but not original in the slightest. Ships in EVE are unique, I'd hate to lose that

By no means I claim that artwork as my own! Sry if my post was a bit unclear here.
I just found it somewhere and was impressed. Design and looks lies in the eye of the beholder but imho it's just right. Feels like the natural progression of the newer Minmatar ship modes. I guess the creator of the artworks tried to indicate this by placing these models into the background of the images. -

Call me crazy but I sortof grew to like the looks of the Tempest, and Typhoon looks and performs like a evil rusty trashcan which eats battleships and stuff alive.
Then again, those images are damn sexy and I'd lke that, too.
