Edited by: Xuesia on 11/12/2004 01:04:28 So, it is finally over. What a time it has been.
It seems like only yesterday that two of us, Homo Erectus and myself, were flying around up north NPC hunting and checking out the area we had recently liberated.
I was one of the two Evolution Directors that was fired upon that day.
We were headed to H-PA to grab some modules left behind from the last war. We then planned to head up north to NPC hunt for a bit. Homo Erectus and I entered the system and were immediately confronted by six pilots. We didn't think much of it since it was Evolution and friends that gave those corporations, now calling themsleves the PA, the chance to begin anew. Everyone in Venal were friends of ours as most of them eventually joined us in the last war. We were on good terms with all of the corporations up north, and we wished them well. However, that soon changed.
When the six pilots of the newly formed PA announced that we may not pass, we took it as a jest. We told them outright that we wouldn't accept their preventing us access to the northern regions. They said, "leave or be fired upon". We said, "if you fire on us you fire on all of Evolution". They fired upon Homo Erectus and we fired back, taking one of them deep into armor before they retreated. We gave them the chance to end it right then and there. The PA were told: don't fire upon us and we'll go about our business, and you won't have yourselves a war. They kept typing in local that they needed to talk to their command to find out if we were allowed up here. We replied, "we dont care if you say we're allowed or not, we'll come here as we please and there's nothing you can do about it unless you want a war again".
We already knew we had a pass to Venal, we had it for weeks. Even then, we don't recognize claims to space, it's only yours if you can keep it. (reminder for everyone dealing with us)
After another 15 minutes of them telling us to leave and us telling them "no", we made the call to the rest of the Evolution fleet: "Put your guns on gents, looks like we have ourselves another fine war".
You see, what most people in the EVE universe just haven't realized yet after all this time is that if you don't want us as an enemy, don't target/shoot at our pilots. We get our strength through our commitment to each other and we will always respond to attacks upon any of our members. It may or may not be an immediate response, but rest assured we WILL be there when we choose.
In the end i can say this, GG PA it was fun.

We all fought for slightly different reasons, however at the time it seemed like the right thing to do, the propaganda machine was doing overtime and PA was made out to be the most evilest unrighteous alliance in all of eve.
In retrospect If they had respected NAST and not tried to use it to their own ends and if they had handled the sanction issue honourably, if they had healed the rifts with rkk and evol then they'd be in Branch today happily dancing around their control towers and singing the megacyte song - but hey, where would the fun be in that?
I think lessons have been learnt, not just for PA but for all alliances in EVE in regards to diplomacy and war. Its not just about how militarily strong you are, keeping morale up is very important, it can make the difference between an alliance lasting 2 weeks (no names mentioned!) or 6 months. Staying power is important, take CA for example, they have been at war with everyone for ages and are loving it and still there. The difference is CA don't really have a big mining contingent in their alliance to keep happy like the PA did, as time passed I believe the mining corps in the PA put pressure on the alliance and became stubborn because they couldn't get to mine up north, I believe the PA started to break from within way before corps started to openly leave.
This was not just a war of big guns and blobs either, propaganda (probably the most effective form of warfare) ran PA ragged in the early days, so much they had to have blanket silence on the eve forums.
But lets not forget that literally every northern alliance/corp were at war with PA. Everyone vs one - it was simply a matter of time before their end, so considering that they have lasted around half a year in the northern war I think they deserve a immmense amount of credit.
The PA may be dead as a formidible alliance but they have a few partizan diehards that will probably never give up. The fire of the phoenix still burns in them for what its worth.
Lastly,
What now would be the agenda for those who seemed to live the last 6 months only wanting to destroy the PA with every last click of thier mouse? Specifically Jericho Fracton and RKK?

Well if they are anything like me they are pretty much lost. But there is always Curse,Fountain and finishing off the business up north.
Please stop being a third rate flamer,I am tired of reactivating my account just to kick your ass. |

Thing is Lucian most Jericho pilots enjoy lots of things besides unrelenting pvp combat and such (though we do love blowing things up quite a lot). Its actually going to be very nice to try some new aspects of the game. Hey even the market works now in Exodus (some of the time) so we might find another transcranniel rush commodity to pimp *smiles at Ly'sol sweetly*
Seriously though I think its fair to say none of us are going to count our blessings for a while yet. Its likely some holdouts from the old PA will remain and theres going to be a need for mopping up and talking with our friends. I'm sure my CEO will have plenty to say in-game on the subject.
For now lets just leave it at the "good game everyone" and rest assured the future won't be boring. Expect amusing things in the new year!
