Started EVE last summer. Liked the AT 7, it was on right after I started playing. Between my accounts I run a few characters in a C6 WH, a missioner and another variety character that's working up to pvp. I don't do industry except a little PI, or serious trading. They just don't interest me.
I like the AT because it's one of the few/only sponsored, big time in game events. I think EVE would really benefit from more events that reached out to a larger playerbase. I think with some improvement on commentary it could really become a top-down way to bring pvp to people who're curious about it but never tried. If the commentary better reflected strategies and tactics of the setups, fits and flying the audience would pick up some tricks. The guys who run Starcraft events tend to be really good at this.
Another way to improve it would be some background pages on the participating teams for those of us who aren't forum warriors or don't want to try and decipher CAOD.
Thanks for the great work this year!

Oh hai Claw.
I am a Pirate, and endeavour to shoot people in the face wherever my travels in low sec take me.
I watch the tournament, to watch explosions and to get ideas about what combinations of ships and strategies work. Also to see if I can think about what I would have done differently if I were in the match.
P.S. Please move Jita cam to Rancer cam, ty.

First off, Love Jita Cam! It definitely needs to be on all the time!
Other than that, I have been playing for close to 3 years now, spent the first couple in 0.0, amazing fun! Running POS's and joining stupidly large fleets, finally got to grips with everything then had to leave
Empire for the last year and a bit, gotta get out to 0.0 again, so just deciding on a nice place to live and discussing joining a nice 0.0 alliance with my old crew shortly, will be good to get back
Can't wait for the rest of the matches today, tomorrow and next weekend! Great job!

What do I do? I over prepare before having bursts of fun.
What am I? PVP guy stuck in empire, don't think i'll find a corp that fits me.
Why do I watch the tournament? Although it isn't realistic roaming gang combat, it reminds me of the small gang roams I used to go on with my mates (before the corp disbanded) I get nostalgic after watching the fights.
What makes it good? This year the HQ stream, Kil2 and Verone are both doing good jobs as commentators, fights are nice and fast (none of the old 15m turtle tanks. When I first started playing Eve years ago the alliance tourneys were a great place for me to learn with the commentators giving info on why some ships were attacked first, why some ships were ignored, why some ships wouldn't die etc. The information was like gold dust to me. Now I get to backseat commentate at me screen.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

Hello CCP Claw
I began back in May 2003, went on a long break 2004-2005 but you could say that I quit the game as I gave my old character away. I got back to EVE around 2006 and have been playing ever since.
Currently, I am playing the game 'spin around in a station and train skills' game due to RL time restraints. Otherwise I like blowing stuff up. Preferably someone' elses. |

January 2004 player, quit the big alliance game in 07 and now shoot random people in wormhole space and make a lucrative living farming C4's. And trying my hand at everything in game from industry to pirating to PVE.
Loving the AT so far. . As always.

I've only just joined the game, currently earning a living doing C4 plexes and gas cloud mining!
I watch the tournament because i enjoy seeing all of these ships, as well as betting on the outcome with corpmates (I have something like an 80% loss rate...). Certainly beats the monotony of gas mining anyway.

Past activities:

What do i like about eve?
1st of all i love the skill system. Even after years of Playing eve there are skills which help me getting better.
I like the player driven market system.
I like the community: never seen any other game with so many talented ppl in different things, like video editing, politics or whatever. Also some ppls dedication to the game is really impressive. Just look at the major FCs in successfull corporations and alliances, most of them are doing a real good job. Also ppl organising logistic runs for their corp and and and....
Eve for most ppl is more than just a game its almost a 2nd life even though for most ppl RL allways comes 1st.
Last but not least: I <3 CCP ;)... best gaming company ever imo. Surely there are sometimes things that might be annoying for me as well, but in general i have to say they are doing an awesome job. Keep going ccp and i ll still be here in 40 years ;).

next year i plan to train for capital ships and with any luck get my self a Hel :D

Hmmm...I started playing EvE in 2004 but ended up leaving because I couldn't handle not being able to move the ship without a joystick :P
2 years later, after playing other MMOs, Betaing WOW and finding them all equally boring due to grinding and just epic failness in design, I came back to EVE and realized that doing the tutorial was a good idea.
Now I'm here, Ive been playing on and off due to my current job, which leaves me in areas with crappy intertubes. I am the CEO of an aussome bunch of Aussies and a few 'Mericans and pretty much go off and shoot people, rocks or rats in all areas of EVE.
I love watching the tournies cuz I hope to one day get a bunch of the guys and get to join in the PEW PEW with them. Plus tournies make for epic lawls when you watch people on the same team accidentally shooting each other instead of repping them (AHAHAHAHA)

Hi,
I lead an important alliance of pompous jackasses.
I pvp, mix of 00 and low sec.
I watch the tournament to see what out of the sandbox ideas my potential competitors will field. Its also fun to watch failures and come-from-behind hero wins.
I also wanted to add that I love the new tactical mini-screen, and I hope its integrated into the game!

I've done a bit of most things in Eve. Early PVP was mostly just trying to survive as a cog in a small industrial machine in Metropolis and Molden Heath low-sec, later PVP was mostly t2 frig/cruiser skirmishing in the Minmatar Militia. Have undertaken semi-heavy industry activity, lived in WH space, made small visits to 0.0. I guess most of my time now is hi-sec missioning, due to not having a lot of people to work with, or I will scan out wormholes looking for a thrill.
Why do I watch the tournament? Well, this is my 1st year of keeping up on it, though I did keep up on results some last year. One reason I watch is that it makes the Eve-verse feel alive. It is a special event, and special events are memorable. I remember entering one of the Ships of Eve raffles, and there was a little starter frig battle, quizzes, and other atmosphere that were a lot of fun and made things feel alive too. It is easy to let yourself fall into a grind and not keep up with people, and these events help make you feel connected to what is going on. Also, knowing people and alliances is fun. I have experience with Electus Matari from my low sec Molden Heath days, as well as FW, and so had someone to root for. Likewise I saw a pilot who had given friends of mine some piratey trouble in the past also.

During the weekdays I run missions and dabble in industry, but during the weekends I turn into a horrific werebear that prowls low-sec in search of prey.
I watch the tournament to see people on their balls.

I'm a high-sec mission runner. Did try militia stuff at some point but that didn't work out too well so I'm back to missioning again.
Industry just takes too much effort and all. Good thing we get moved to tournament field straight from a station. I might not make it if I had to start travelling there :)

Hi CCP Claw,
i am playing eve on several accounts for a few years now, i've been a pirate for quite a while, and back in the days that was cool we had awesome, small scale fights, and some other awesome bigger once
for like two years now my main and several of my alts are living in 0.0 fighting a pvp players lifein a larger alliance (which did not get a spot in this tourney :( ) other of my characteres are doing industrial stuff too.
since i started playing eve, back in 2006, i have allways dreamed of being part of the alliance tourney, since this is a small scale pvp event in a controled environment , its nothing where you can expect easy ganks, its no big fleet warfare where with the lag nowadays mostly numbers count.
This year i heard a bit to late that electric monkey overlords would take part in the tourney, so i didnt have time to get a real combat character over - a shame, but im sure, one day i will fly either for my mains alliance, or for this one, a ship in the tourney.
Other reasons for me, besides having the dream of taking part one day, are that i allways see a few guys i met during the time that im playing in some of the teams, or that it gives a good impression on the balance of the game atm (for example that mostly Tengus are used as t3, and the legion is rather rare.. what does that tell us? :)
From the current running tourney im a bit disappointed with the commentators, i wish they would sound a bit more enthusiastic (like football commentators) and i also wish they would have a bit more background knowledge about the teams they comment on - not only about the alliances, but also about the corps and players (like when the commentators tell you a bit of the history of a player in football) - it would be fun to have this feel a bit more like a sports event =)

I run the occasional plex and get monies through trading, I REALLY don't like grinding for ISK. I love noseying on peoples activities in 0.0 and wormholes. I've toned it down of late but I used to enjoy some creative scamming. I also post on the forums now and again offering friendly advice.
When I'm not being lazy I do solo frig PVPPP, mostly low sec at the moment.
I'm mostly here for the people. Being a relatively smaller subscriber base it feels much tighter as a community, this is made more so by the single shard making everything you do in eve be part of a coherent history. No matter how small an impact it is, it feels more 'meaningful' than it would anywhere else.
The eve tournaments are generally exciting to watch if not entirely, then certainly primarily for the forum drama and politics coming out in full force. The PL Sisi spying thread is one of the best ever.

I'm an alt to a fw player for Amarr. I've been in game for 2+ years. I enjoy eve very much from manufacturing, selling and inventing to fw and missioning. I pvp and pve. My char. are all good guys and gals. Eve is the only online game I play and have played.
I really like to watch the tounaments this being my third. I love the close matches. I play along as fc for one side or the other, calling primaries and secondaries, pleading at the logistics person to get on this ship or that. I like to pay attention to the ships fielded and the tactics employed.
I do like the commentators for the most part especialy when they get excited and emotional about the carnage inflicted or when they call a match for one team and they get spanked live for all to see. I don't mind if they explain stuff to the noobs. I always learn something.
The Alliance Tournament is a fun time for us all. Good luck to all the teams!
