Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate? Nullsec PvP
What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament ATM I'm f5'ing this page and scanning SHC, waiting to find out who we play next, and if i'm in the team - then hoping my fail can be excused by other's pr0 ;)

Bit of everything, seen my share of low-sec PvP and FW, haven't tried 0.0 blob warz yet. Mostly industrialist atm, especially with PI around the corner. I do have a Tengu to run lvl 4s with when I feel like it although I do like turrets more, but they got more problems hitting stuff and doing equal damage to said Tengu :P

I am wondering: what do you do in Eve?
I joined up in March '06 and for most of my Eve career I was a mission runner. These days I mostly focus on exploration and wormhole living/raiding.
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate?
I've barely done any PvP so far, except for the occasional war thrown my way by other parties.
Are you not a PvPer? Industry expert? Mission runner?
These days I'm mostly into industry, the T2/T3 side of it with invention and reverse engineering. Currently on a break, having been.. shall we say evicted from my wormhole <.<
What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you
I love player sports. Ever since I joined in '06 I've taken part in racing leagues, for example, and I like to watch almost as much as I like to participate. Not to mention one does learn quite a bit about the roles of different ships in a fleet by watching others do it.

I am wondering:
what do you do in Eve?
Depends on what I feel like doing. I run missions, when I am bored with that I do some other stuff. Industry, have some moronic chats, help some new players or some old players, etc etc.
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate? Are you not a PvPer? Industry expert? Mission runner?
All of the above, just some more low profile than others
What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you - I'd love to hear from everyone regardless of your Eve 'career' of choice.
Ow I ain't logging in to EVE when watching the tournies. I want to look at their tactics and ship choices, the animations to see what EW stuff they use etc. I would love to be able to hear both teams voicecoms aswel. Mainly to hear if they are having fun.
I look forward to your responses and will be reading every single one!

Well, other than the obvious 'because I'm running it'...
Eve has a depth of strategy and tactics that many other PvP games do not have, but Eve is also a sandbox, where situation and strategy is often more important than fitting or tactics.
The tournament, for me, showcases my personal favourite sides of Eve; the depth of fitting and planning, and the decision making ability of leaders and players. It also in many cases shows off supreme pilot skill in a very visual manner. And to be more simplistic, I love seeing awesome ships flying around, looking awesome in an amazing environment, blowing eachother up.

let me see, started some time early 2007 with the now melted Screv. after a brief time in the starter corp i joined up with the now closed Knights of Camelot, they were members of Paredisum Libertas and lived in Deklen at the time. that lasted for a few months and then Tri-Version2 exploded over the north.
Then started this Toon not long after and spent about 6 months in empire being a mission *****. joined up with a few corps and alliances around Matar space. I was in Warp to desktop for a while , The Blue Sun Trust, Defi4ant, Aggression, Pleasure Planets and Pie, WI. (with GLD, Cosmoboy best boy), Systematic Chaos and now reside in Talos coalition.
I do missions occasionally, usually for LP so i can have lolfactionfit ships for PVP, Ratting, Exploration (not WH's, waste of effort), small gang pvp and huge ass fleet fights (which i actually enjoy, give me a 800man drunken brawl any day). Also for the last 4 months i have been pimping about in a carrier which is fun, fulfilled my noobish ambition and is a pain in the ass all at the same time.

Hi Everybody
I am wondering: what do you do in Eve? I help run a wormhole corporation. Class V colonist that are enjoying frontier space
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate? I come from a pvp background in MMO's but my current role is like a clerk so my pvp prowess suffers. Wormhole PVP most of the time ( small / medium gangs ) but will venture out if no targets are present
Are you not a PvPer? Industry expert? Mission runner? Sleeper Pimping to fund PVP
What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you - I'd love to hear from everyone regardless of your Eve 'career' of choice. I watch the tournament because the delivery mechanism and format is well thought out ( if its hard to follow I would not bother ) AT is something I eagerly anticipate each time it approaches. Great to see the way the top teams execute their game plans. There is much enthusiasm and chatter in corp as well during matches & we use that momentum to "brainwash" more pilots LOL
I look forward to your responses and will be reading every single one!

i still love the game immensely. it is the most awesome, complex, unpredictable beast i have ever seen.
it is just not possible to play it casually and do it justice imho.
i am watching the tourney because it i like to see explosions, i like that you are able to see who put effort in and see it pay off. it is a fantastic source for drama and lulz. Hydra, Star Fraction, Ishtar/Gila fail team. love it because it is a community thing, whether you are participating or not. and some times a dramatic animal at the end of the day just scares the living sh!t out of you.

Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate?
99% PVP with a dash of anomolies for those free faction mods. Mainly lowsec with some nullsec pvp for those times when I want to use small ships.
What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you - I'd love to hear from everyone regardless of your Eve 'career' of choice.
I watch the tournament for a number of reasons;
- It's pvp on a scale which I find most exciting i.e. small-medium skirmish size gangs.
- It quite often provides combinations of ships that are 'out-of-the-box' and successful which my corp and I can use on tranq.
- It's a global and publicised event of the game I've played for over three years now.
- The running commentary along with the awesome coverage (high res. and good camera work) gives the tournament a more real feel than regular pvp.
I've used the tournament to advertise EVE to a number of friends and since then they've also never looked back.
Love the new flagship idea

I found an EVE Advertisment by mistake on AOL in March 2006 just after i built my first Gaming PC. I joined a pirate alliance called 9th Fleet back in the second half of 2006 but after realising 9th had no intention of moving to 0.0 i had to leave. I joined UK Corp which was a joint founder corp of Lokta Volterra which gave me my first taste of 0.0 warfare. We all know how that ended. UK Corp then left LV for FATAL Alliance where i spent a few months blowing up alot of Morsus Mihi/Razor pilots under the pro guidance of Sister Bliss (Best FC in Eve imo). The North provided me with my first real PVP experience and after FATAL surrendered to MM/rzr and co i had to find somewhere new to go after fatal imploded from the inside out. (i still don't understand why we surrendered as i didnt care much for M-Pire anyway and just wanted some pew pew). I was in awe of the Morsus Mihi pilots during that campaign. There were times when we thought we had it won but MM/RZR just kept going no matter what. I admired them for that and decided i'd like to join them. I managed to join Oberon Incorporated in Morsus Mihi in late 2007 and have remained there to this day. I've learned alot off Morsus Mihi and for that i am forever gratefull to be in the best alliance in the game.

For many years I was a half-assed missioner (I started in 2004). Would sub for a month, get bored and go back to whatever else I was doing for 6 months. Around 3 years ago, I started trading and found I could make a lot of isk doing it. Now I'm essentially retried from making isk and just do faction warfare PvP.
To be perfectly honest, I don't know why I watch the tournament. Much like I don't really know why I'll watch the world cup this summer... I just like watching it. --------------------------------------

I started not long ago , about 3-4 months or so , and been enjoying the game thorougly so far.
What do you do in EVE Currently i'm just missioning and stuff in highsec while training skills for preparing a move into 0.0. I do the occasional pvp but mostly stocking up on money at the moment.
I'm a pvp'er by nature but am currently training to get into interceptors so that i have a solid pvp ship for when i go into hardcore core skills training.
I'm a pvp'er as i said and i enjoy small fleets and strategic combat.
What do i enjoy about the Tournament I watch the tournament because it gives ideas for strategies and setups, aswell as giving an idea of how ships can be used etc. Commentary could be better but i enjoy the matches alot.

I am wondering: what do you do in Eve?
I started Eve with a few friends from other games. We were all about the PvE so everyone got bored and left I was tempted back a few months later, took an Agony PVP Basic class and found that shooting other players was more fun that shooting red crosses.
After joining Agony I helped out and eventually ended up teaching some of their classes.
Had a brief stint as a PVP "Expert" during AT7 which gave me enough recognition to get into serious business spaceship politics as a two time member of the CSM.
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate?
Currently a 0.0 PVPer. Lowsec is fun for some things but I like being able to use bubbles and bombs (sometimes at the same time). I've not tried piracy or suicide ganking but I'm happy that the game supports such things.
I'm the first to admit I'm not a very good solo PVPer so prefer small gangs (5-10) of up to battlecruiser sized ships where I can make use of my leadership skillpoints.
Why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you
The tourney is the Universe cup!
I enjoy seeing the tactics and setups plus all the metagaming that makes eve unique (though I prefer it when we're not the target ) We all know it isn't "real" PVP because of the limited rules but it is still great to watch.
The live streaming this time was a great addition and the viewing figures seem to agree.
I still think that for these non-studio weekends that it would have been cool to have an Incarna based virtual studio for the between the matches discussions in addition to the Jitacam (which was awesome - props to Hun who I saw spelling out their initials with remote cap transfers).
Looking forward to more of the same for the next two weekends

I've been all over the place in my four years, made myself a home in every security level and a few times just wandered. I've seen Assault Ships on fire off the shoulder of Irmalin; I watched T-beams glitter in the dark near the Yarebap gate...
I've seen a few large-scale fleet battles, but mainly from the "I can't see my overview! what's with all these bubbles?! where did my shield go?! ARGH!" *Pend Insurance would like to extend...etc.* perspective; most of my time has been spent carebearing - PvE killing or PvP trading in high and low sec.
At present i'm 'homesteading' out of a POS in wicked creek, deep 0.0, with an alliance mainly focused on small roaming fleets - Death From Above., you might have heard the name recently and will hopefully hear it a lot more in the weeks to come :)
I watch the tournament to distract myself from the Anomalies and/or mining for fuel and ammunition, hold a running commentary/argument over pronunciations with alliance-mates over vent and of course, most important of all, bear witness to the initial stages of DFA's inevitable meteoric rise to total supremacy over all New Eden.

- elorran, nearly six years in game.
- CEO of three corporations, one current, two former (why me!?
)
- Founded (and disbanded) the not-so-well remembered Chorus of Dawn alliance.
- Rapidly approaching 90 million skill points, dreaming of the day I hit the magic 100m/sp.
- All round carebear indulging in occasional piracy.
(piracy is such a harsh word, I prefer the term stimulator of the local economy... don't forget to ask about our free asset redistribution service).
- I've participated on one previous alliance tournament, under the Chorus of Dawn flag.
- I tend to root for Morsus Mihi and Kadeshi as I have former corp mates in both alliances who often field in their teams.
- Currently toying with the idea of running for CSM next year.
I enjoy watching the occasional matches of the tournaments to see how creative (or lame) some of the teams can be. Then there are just support values for people you might know in a given team. But the tournaments never fail to give the occasional twist of amusing and entertaining drama. - - elorran is part time theoretical theorist, dedicated practitioner of Ti Kwan Leep, and an avid connoisseur of fine whines |

Have been playing on and off for nearly 6 years now and still love the game as much as when i first created this char (wish i'd of known about a-z target calling back then ) The alliance tournaments have always been a highlight for me including all the drama and politics in them!! I am wondering: what do you do in Eve?
I joined March 2008, and since then i've pretty much achieved nothing :D I hardly do anything, either im doing som lvl 3 missions in my Drake, or im flying around clocked in low sec calling targets to Militia, and the rare Roaming with a fleet.
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate?
I would love to do something a tad more exciting than what Militia has become, like Pirating or 0.0. But i just can't bother to find a corp, guess im waiting for a corp to find me :D
Why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you
I love watching ships get blown up, and when it involves a lot of great tactics being thrown around like they did it every day, it's just that much more awesome.
Now if you wont mind, I'll return to my Missile trained Minmatar and glide around in Rens.

I try to pvp most of the time when I am playing since for me it is one of the more enjoyable parts of the game. Try to avoid blob warfare like the plaque

I dont do as much in Eve as I use to. I am now the classic bitter old vet. I watch the tourny because it is enjoyable and I look forward to it every yr. Most of the time I would rather sit down and watch the matches then try to play on weekends when the server is mostly a cluster frack.
I have done much in Eve - mined (me/shudders), lived in 0.0 for yrs as a part of major alliance (from the founding of QDF/FIX to their eventual explusion from Q space), did time doing small gang raiding into 0.0, spend walkabout time doing manufacturing and missioning in empire.
Watching the tournaments reminds me more of how much fun small gang pvp is compared to the blob fest that dominates most of Eve pvp nowadays.

I just tag along with some relevant dudes and i love to blindly follow FC orders which results in very little loses and plenty of nice kills, especially since everyone in fleet does the same, so it feels just like 1 guy is controlling 100 ships, pretty impressive to be part of that.
I started to pvp from day 1 in a rifter and i managed to get 500 kills in low sec pirating in my first 6 month (I've seen high sec for the first time after 1 year of playing). After that i started to work in RL so i had to switch for my own time zone so i roamed trough 0.0 alliances just because they have tons of people and i can get into fleet and pvp whenever i log in (shortage of game play makes you think where and how to organize your play time).
In the meantime i realized that i love big fights with ton of people involved (it's multiplayer game after all) so i managed to get where i am now and i love it.
Oh and creating alt to do trading just after 3 month of play and becoming a billionaire using other players laziness and my own mind was the top of the cake why i love this game.
Why do i watch the tournament : it's fun, even more fun when you see flagships destroyed, it's always nice to cheer for friends, and always nice to see someone who you dont like lose.
All in all thank you CCP for a nice game and eve players for very nice and unique community.

Well i joined eve way back in December 2003. I really cant remember where or how i found out about it to be honest. Its the first and only MMO i've ever tried and i'm still here
I joined NORAD alliance in early 04 and learned how to PVP there. A few years later, NORAD merged with Fountain Alliance and formed RISE. This didnt work out so well and the xNORAD corps broke away and formed The Ronin.
I have been living in the same area of 0.0 pvping with the same bunch of people for over 6 years!
I watch the tournament because it is awsome

Here it goes. I PvP, solo, 1v1 style, in a drake. Arguably one of the hardest things to do in Eve. No one wants to shoot an '03 player. No one wants to shoot a drake, and no one wants to shoot an '03 player in a drake.
I let more noobs go, because they think 1v1 means to armor, then I get good fights.
I currently roam high sec, looking for low secs with small flashy pirate gangs to OMGWTFBBQ.
I refuse to mine, mission, or rat unless I extremely broke (like now) or my sec status needs repairing.
I watch the Tournament because I was in Capital Punishment when AT6 came around and they introduced me to it. And since my alt had skills I got to fly even though I had only been in the alliance about 30 days. TweakBoy in the Golem for 3 rounds.
AT7 I was with BDEAL and got to fly again after getting them excited to apply. I flew the Tengu with missile spam that was "absolutely staggering" and the Tengu that supported the Hero Tengu, Kanagawa.
I love the AT because it is as fair as a fight as you can get. No blobs, no bubbles, no fail alt RR/ecm in the wings. Just knock-down shoot-em-up PVP. I also love the underdog/dark horse wins. Twice my alliance was a no one, favored to lose and we made the third round.
Keep the tourneys coming and I'll keep coming to lose ships

Started out in the late 2005 being a noble vigilante delivering swift justice to evildoers (as swift as justice gets in a tristan ).
Quite shortly after I realized that I would have much more targets if I started shooting evrything and thus I was set for the dark side of Piracy in all forms and figures. Gatecamping with INFOD, waging Hi-sec piracy in Hybrid Syndicate and ganking alliance nubbins in Alliance P (While it was at the peak of it's glory).
Atm It's low-sec piracy in my old home of Molden Heath wich is a place I like since I can actually practice my favorite pastime of flying all alone and taking multiple oponents at once (may or may not win tough )
So I am a dyed to the bone PvP'er wich actually makes most of my ISK from pewing people and taking their stuff.
I like to watch the Tournament since it's PvP on a really high level set in a Do-or-Die enviroment wheras on TQ retreating on the first sign of trouble probably is wiser.

Oh, I get to be interviewed by The Claw!
I am wondering: what do you do in Eve? I do a lot of things! I rip people off - I mean, provide quality goods at competitive prices - in the Dodixie trading hub. I also have a pirate alt for delicious low-sec pew pew, and I do a bit of industry here and there as well. While I'm busy with the market, I also help new pilots in the University of Caille corporation, answering lots of questions and providing guidance when they'll listen. I am also the CEO of a small corporation that does mostly industry.
Occasionally I will hire a new mercenary group to attack another corporation for the fun of it. My favorite targets are people with exceptionally terrible grammar.
Are you a pvper? 0.0 or lowsec? Pirate? Yarrrr! Low-sec piracy is where it's at. No politics, freedom of movement, smash and grab. I like to fly smaller ships, and I always go for a ransom. It makes the kill board less pretty but whatever.
I stay out of null-sec because I got bored of 40 on 1 deaths, the lamest mechanic in Eve that is warp bubbles, and the e-peen wagging.
Why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you? Everyone gets the same number of points, so each side is on even ground. What determines the winners and the losers is the selection of strategy and piloting skill, not who can blob the most. There's also very few other times where someone can actually see someone fielding a Nightmare or Marchariel in a PvP situation. And then, of course, there's all of the drama - the rivalries, the backstabbing, the spying, even bribing and ransoming right on the field of play! It's excellent fun.
