Edited by: themule on 12/12/2004 02:38:14 No... UT and Q3 are both frist person shooters which makes it pointless. But homeworld is an RTS, so it wouldn't just be a redo of the same.

How about a Homeworld 2 ships mod for Eve? (ignore, its the wine talking)
Your idea sounds cool, sending a few wings of Merlins and Kestrels, targeting Megathron engines and weapons.... neat
(sorry to interupt, I am not a modder)

Lallante,
I'd consider using Nexus: The Jubiter Incident as the base for your mod.
It's a lot easier to mod and has a far more flexible system

Go with Homeworld 2 Relic has great support for there mods and a talented community. If you havent already post in the offical relic forums at RDN for Homeworld 2 , I assure you will find a great deal fo people willing to help.

The UI is modable, too.
HW2 is very difficult to mod in many ways - doing anything remotely interesting with subsystems involves an IMMENSE amount of work.
With Nexus, it's really, really simple

Since we're going off the deep end... I wish they would have just left it imperium galactica 3. The second one was one of the best empire building games I've played.
Yes, Nexus (or the imperium galactica 3 engine) looks way better than HW2 IMHO. You should check out the demo.
Not offering my skills, just advice. :)

To be honest, found Nexus interface a pleasure to work with after couple of missions... while Eve interface in Shiva still manages to irritate me every now and then with its 'gotcha!' moments. >.<
Eve mod for Nexus could be cool -- no more of the battlehips flying around with stupid speeds, small ships can actually roll out of enemy fire, and being able to target and disable separate modules adds to fun. ^^

Homeworld 2 can look very nice! If you have HW2 then I'd highly recommend you download, install and try a mod called "Point Defense System". It goes by another name too but that one should help you find what I'm talking about. It's by no means perfect but it adds a lot of things to HW2 mainly additions to cruisers' defensive systems to aid it in fighting off frigates and fighters which is a good thing in my books. I could never figure out why a huge cruiser could be defeated by a few swarms of bombers without being able to effectively fight back. I don't know if they also polished the graphics a little for it but it looks very nice in my opinion :)

I played the Nexus demo and turned it off after 5 minutes. How can you release a demo without tutorial and such a crappy interface..?

I have to admit tho that I LOVE the thrusters of Nexus... ya the UI is crap... but again LOOK at the thruster ...
The whole propulsion system is AWESOME...
and exactly the propulsion system in eve is rather crappy... and I already take the "new" changes into account...
currently its a speed race... if this gets sorted out I would be really happy... (btw the "new" patch WILL NOT solve this issue)

Greetings Grim |
