Drake doesn't deserve all those luxury DPS, tank, fittings and slots (meds in particular). And since it's so imbalanced and is absolutely free every b00n flies one. I'd bet it's the most popular ship atm. And there's always a reason why a ship is popular. Mostly it happens when the ship is imbalanced (see the dramiel).
Not THE most popular ship.. it is beat out by the Hulk... (see latest QEN, page 9 for the list of most popular ship-types)

See.. it IS about the pilot, not the ship.. Don't get me misunderstood.. I'm not saying it's a BAD thing to hate someone for taking the easy road.. only that that is most likely the major source of the hatred...

The drake is a solid ship, and it is not horrible if you can actually pilot one with maxed skills.
Just used poorly because it is just plugged in there to fill spots in poorly assembled fleets.
