Some people don't get to spend the whole day watching streams.
It's been half a day, so can you upload them already? For the other days you guys were pretty fast with the uploads.
Also can you upload the day 6 videos asap after each fight?
Tomorrow is father's day in the US and many of us won't be able to spend the day at the computer. I want to get home in the evening and watch the matches.

I missed out on the last half of finals. I'd really like to see how they went too.
Please put it up? Pretty please?

Give the video-team some time, there's more video this time (because of the studio show between battles) and it all needs rendering and uploading. You can hope they'll upload the first batch today, but it might have to wait until after the weekend, depending on how much time it takes to do all that.

Despite what you may think looking at them, the At8 crew does not stay awake 24/7 during the whole tournament period :p I'm sure they are making best speed with the uploads.

Like I said, some people have to work or do something more important than spending the weekend on the pc.
If you don't want to make the videos available right after each fight that is fine, but I was hoping to watch today's fights before the final happened, which I will not be able to watch either it seems.
You don't lose anything by making them available a few hours after its all said and done, but you just lost some more good will towards you with this lame policy of waiting 2 days to upload the finals.

its not really a policy, its just that they don't want to do the work.

They lose a lot of man-hours that could be spent on administering the whole thing - and remember that the tournament crew are on their third weekend. Only speculating here - but I assume they have families too, and I think we should be thankful that they are sacrificing their weekends for our amusement. (Yes, it's their job, they get paid, but it's still weekend overtime you are asking for.)
Remember - even if they do get a few weekdays free in return, that is free days that they cannot share with their spouse or family, because they'll be off to their work/school commitments.
Just chill and be patient. :)

Yes posting vid in youtube is a dangerous and time consuming job.
Yes some of us do work (like ccp guys) on the weekend.
And yes you guys want to have big audiences, but the other days where published fast enough.
I really dont see a reason for this delay.

The finals weekend is more time consuming to produce than the qualifiers and there are twice as many videos because of the studio sections.
The machines (at least for AT7, I assume the same setup for AT8) that run the live studio stuff are the machines that do the video encoding and upload to youtube.
There is lots of work going on behind the scenes before and after the broadcast too. They'll have been on site working for over 10 hours by the time the matches end. I don't know about you but after a 10 hour day at work I don't want to stay any later .
Yes it is annoying to have to wait but it isn't a new phenomenon having been the same for the AT6 and AT7 finals too.

Your point? CCP is low on money, and have to use slow servers? Right. Poor guys.

it's just odd the videos for days 2,3,4 were all uploaded a few HOURS after the event
for these videos to take 40times as long to upload just caught me off guard... i wish I had known. It was reasonable to expect this weekend's videos to be uploaded in less than 5times as long as each other days took.
however I suppose if you are planning to upload both the studio commentary and the matches .... then I could simply NOT WATCH today and watch it all on tuesday or wednesday.... which would be fine by me... it's just if you plan on making the youtube videos JUST matches like in day1,2,3,4 ... then I won't want to miss today's commentary...
so can anyone comment on if the youtube videos for day5/6 will be full commentary or only matches?

Ok I'll do my quick explanation as is custom each tournament :).
During the qualifying weekends we have a fraction of the work load compared to the final weekend. We can record each match individually and then while the next match starts up have someone working on the edit and compression so we can get the matches up on youtube really quickly. We perfected that process mostly because in the past few tournaments those weekends were radio only so getting you the video as quickly as possible was very important.
On the final studio weekends we are all incredibly busy bringing you the live show. Instead of breaks in between matches we're bringing you studio content to enjoy. The small army of machines we have are all busy making that happen and all the team is working flat out on the show. So currently doing all the back end work involved with getting matches on youtube can't be done by us at the same time.
Getting all these matches on youtube is no trivial task and with the studio segments the final weekend comprises of 70+ videos to upload, or around 13 hours of HD content. We'll strive to have this content available for you as soon as possible this week.
In the meantime please tune in and enjoy the live show . --------- Charlie Video Producer |

For me tournament starting 3am and time difference means also Monday morning.
Anyway if you want to watch the video you can leave the stream running and use a program to record it similar to fraps. Or just gently touch yourself and imagine you are watching the tournament.

I understand the difficulties in getting these uploaded, but if you live in Australia and have a job, it doesn't make it any less frustrating when the only solution is to be awake from 2am, only to have to leave for work before the end of the competition.

Personally, I rather not have to see the commentary sections and when I have tuned into live feed in previous years, I usually mute it until I see next fight starting.
I don't know if there previously was a poll on this subject, but even if so, a new update on it wouldn't hurt...
How many even watch the commentary sections via youtube, or during live broadcast?

I have to agree that while this arrangement isn't new, it is really annoying.
The comment of "enjoy the streams" is pretty when it lags unwatchably even on low res, while I can generally stream the highest res fine from youtube. I can't really find any resources around here to make it better. No-one answered when I asked about it yesterday, either.
I mean, you've clearly seen this before, aren't there better ways to set this up? As a brief example, CCP has massive number of computers, plenty of which should be unused on the weekend - theoretically free for compression and all that. I don't quite get what the comment about editing the match is, since I thought the youtube videos were basically the same as the stream itself but maybe someone who gets to see both can explain.
The fact is, by the time I see the finals matches I'll already know half the results and that makes them much less interesting. As for the studio commentary, it's great at the time, but with previous tournaments it was absurd watching them on youtube hearing them talk about the next expansion with information that was outdated by the time I got to watch it.

ITT: people wanting/demanding stuff like right now, just because uhm... well they want it. When explained why it's a bit of an issue and they will have to wait they kinda sorta just go "I don't ****ing care about the fact that you might have real lives or that there might be other issues, I'm stupid and I WANT MY STUFF NOW!!!". It's like a 3 year old stamping his feet to get a cookie, about the same IQ level and they should be given the same amount of attention; none whatsoever.
