This is not such a bad idea, but there are some problems: 1. new server will destroy an old one, because all newbies will go play on the new. 2. the new server will be boring without the "dark side" of eve (because of boring pve content). 3. economy problems

To the OP ummmm NOOOOOO!! It's a horrible idea that has been brought up since the game was created, and almost comepletly and utterly hated idea by the EVE comunity.
ROFL at i dont like the forced PVP, honestly you have options, so use them main one, adapt to the game or stay in empire.

Here!
Quote:
1. Create a separate folder for your test client ( i.e "C:\evetest") 2. Copy everything from your original EVE folder (by default located at "C:\Program Files\CCP" ) to the new ("C:\evetest"). This step is important, since patching the test client will render it incompatible with the Tranquility server. 3. Go to this webpage to download patches for Singularity 4. Download the "Download TQ to Singularity Patch" or the Multiplicity one if you are going to test on that server. 5. Apply the patch to the correct EVE installation such as "C:\evetest". You will be promted to point to the appropriate installation folder. 6. Create a shortcut for the new eve.exe file inside C:\evetest, 7. Right click on the shortcut and select properties, then select the Shortcut tab 8. add /server:87.237.38.50 for Singularity (it would be /server:87.237.38.51 for the test server Multiplicity) and press OK The final look of the Target line would look something like this ( Different between client locations ) "C:\evetest\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50 9. Then double click on the shortcut and log in.
And if all that's to hard for your care bear brain, GBTW.

Once, a long, long time ago, there was this game with pretty fun open PvP -- sorta like EVE has. The devs there decided to change that game and give it a PvE version where people couldn't be ganked. The vocal few loved this change, but it robbed the game of its essence and it would soon just fall into obscurity.
Perhaps you're talking about that old legendary game which once gave people who didn't want to be involved in PvP their own protected world? And like 90% of the players moved there, because most didn't want forced PvP upon them, especially not in the harsh environment of "lose absolutely everything you are wearing and carrying".
So what happened to original server? Few Big Bad PvPers actually had to fight other few Big Bad PVPers who knew what they were doing and could fight back, instead of ganking some poor miner or new player just venturing out into the world, so they all ragequitted soon after.
Point of this epic fairytale: if most people wanted PvP, they would have stayed in the PvP half of the world, so no mater what you want to pretend most people were happy with the change. Whining carebear gankers weren't, though.

See, here's the paradox. Nonconsentual PVP adds depth to a game that honestly would be pretty thin without it. People say they hate PVP, but when they have nothing to struggle against, funnily enough they get disillusioned and leave.
EVE is driven by PVP. If you can't stand that, you're playing the wrong game. That's all there is to it.

No. PvP world was soon completely empty because Big Bad PvPers cannot exist without PvE folks /aka easy targets. On the other side, PvE world was decently populated for some time until people started to migrate to other PvE focused games which were also plain better. So this legendary game eventually lost all players because of other games coming out, not because of T.

as mutch as anti pvp i am, even i understand this is a very bad idea. remove pvp results in no reason for ppl to do indy related stuff becouse ships dont explode.
then what are you gonna do in this pve server? missions and combatsites?? now that will for shure turn ppl away from the game.

while this COULD be good in some way... its not for several reasons
first being that is kills the selling point and primary gameplay of EVE, no pvp = no EVE
secondly, for what would you earn iskies? I don't know about others but most people I know have carebear mains and pvp alts, so the alts are some sort of isk sink for the iskies they earn. Also, when someone gets blown up during a mission or other pve activities, he requires a new ship from the market (and trust me, alot of ships die on daily basis), on a non-pvp server this number would be SEVERELY lower and thus killing the market and everything around it

I have struggled with corpwarring also, not doing it and not liking it when it was done to me, but found my solution in-game.
It's my personal opinion that this sandbox would benefit from more parental supervision. To me CCP has an obligation to show that war is never a solution to a problem. People learn from life and play and corpwarring sends out the message that it's okey to attack someone. But CCP in all their wisdom (hopefully) have decided that the game is as it is and they are the Gods in Eve. It's not a democracy, not even a republic or a socialist state. We can only hope the Gods are willing to listen to our plea's... or take what they've given us and turn it around to suit us.
Starting my own corp, I have publicly stated that when warred I move my game to secondary characters in different corps, not playing with the warred one. Because of this, people who wardeck me will pay isk to war against an empty corp... have fun guys, do leave me a message when you're done so I can laugh heartily at your expense. While warred my secondary characters grow in strength until they are equal to my first and so less profit will in the end be neglageble.
My advice to all who hate corpwars like me: don't bet everything on one single horse. Spread your learning around a bit. You will grow to power more slowly, but you'll have more options.

Considering how fundementally poor EVE's PvE stuff is... why would you even want this?
I could understand the desire if the PvE side was as strong as say WoW's but it's not.

The things you find valuable in this game are only valuable to you because of the possibility of losing them. Without PvP, this game would be doomed to fade out in a few years, like most traditional MMOs do. They become a useless grind fest. You level to max level, raid to get the best gear. Expansion hits. New level cap, new gear to farm. Repeat.
PVP is essential to EvE, it's its heart and soul.
Short version: Nuts!

This idea might bring back alot of "carebears", but in the end, it would most likely kill things. If you want a game thats all based on pve, go play sim city.
Conflict stimulates lots of things in games. The economy thrives on war an violence. With a lack of violence, the economy would suffer. The more destruction, the more there is need to replace things, an the more isk is spent to buy stuff to replace things, the more isk people make from selling the stuff to replace the stuff that got blown up. So, is it a sound idea to have a pve based server, not in my opinion. . . . . God loves the PvPer, for we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! |
