What is your breaking point for "unacceptable" service and can we make fun of you when you start to voice discontent?
It has to do with the reason of the downtime.
'Significant server modifications' are acceptable if they require between 24 and 48 hours, as by my experience this tends to be the downtime one generally should expect after fixing unexpected problems; with the exception from 'giga' IT corporations such as Microsoft or Google.
Moving the entire server park qualifies as a 'significant server modification' and as such I'm not yet bothered by it. I'm assuming this is the case for many other as well.
Then why making an announcement stating its done in 6 hours if this is such a well known fact in IT industry?

To all the people who set a skill just over the projected DT would you fill your car up with just enough petrol to get where your going?. No of course not there might be traffic or bad weather or numerous other things that slow you down and you would end up running out. Its your own fault if you didnt set a multi day skill as the warning everytime for patch or hardware maintenance is set a LOOOOOOONG skill not one thats just enough. And btw this isnt wow they dont reimburse you for your own stupidity here -----------------------

Quote: In gratitude for your patience, we will give an extra pool of skillpoints to all accounts (paying and trial) that were active at the beginning of this downtime, on one character per account. This skillpoint pool will be appropriately sized for the downtime time frame, universal across all accounts regardless of character attributes/implants and may be applied as each player wants.
This will be done through a new system in the development pipeline, currently scheduled for deployment next TuesdayÆs patching opportunity* during regularly scheduled downtime. Since it has been ôhot droppedö into the development plans, we will be providing step-by-step instructions for how to use it as soon as possible.

Please go read http://www.eveonline.com/pnp/eula.asp and pay attention to section 12 thanks
Then read Section 14 (Highlighted below for you)
Quote: In the event of a material breach of CCP's obligations to provide access to and use of your Account, the System, Game, Game Content or User Content, your sole and exclusive remedy shall be a refund of any pre-paid subscription fees attributable to the period during which you were denied such access
Yep I Did read it before I posted, Firstly CCP were not in breach of there obligations, there was a scheduled downtime and notification of the downtime for a server move, things can and did go wrong so that's why it took so long.
and as other people have pointed out if they were in breach it would be prepaid game time refunded and not skill points.
Thanks

ITT pilots with unreal expectations for reimbursement, for situations that they agreed they would not get reparations for when suffered during certain occasions.

Just for the record:
In the entire seven years I've been playing this game, not once has CCP refunded SKILL points. They've given us free days in the subs, but never skill points.
Thanks CCP!

EDIT: It looks like CCP may actually go forward with some reparations Slade
So much for telling people what they should ask for, expect, or have the right to. And kiduos to CCP, who has a business mentality... far beyond the EULA-lawyers of the forums :)

Damn, i see the wannabe know-it-alls were wrong again
You people need to remember, just because it always happens, doesn't mean its right!
Setting a long skill, twice as long as the planned DT should easily be suffient!
Kudos CCP for doing the right thing...

In fairness to the EULA lawyers, this is the first time CCP have done this.

Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

Bad analogy. If I have twice as much fuel as I need to go to town in NY, you can hardly blame someone for running out of fuel when the destination switches to texas.
