I took a 11months break...was great to come back :)
Too much of the same thing is always boring.

I still hate battleship weapons.. stupidest idea ever, but oh well.
Now we have more ships. Destroyers and battlecruisers to fill those empty spaces. I'm just fine with battleships now, I just wont fly one.. Battlecruiser is exactley what I wanted my old battleship to be.
The game has been pretty stable for me. No lag, little crashing (im having trouble running 2 clients). I can get around just fine.. I don't think the game has run this good before.
I suggest you take a break.. 16 months playing a single game is a LONG time. Even a game as big as eve has to be boring by now? Longest I've ever gone in an MMORPG without taking a break was 5 months in Eve.. I've played quite a few, some for years.. but I always take a break from the game every couple of months to make sure it stays fresh. ________

And when I'm freaked about it I'll let my char learn a long time skill and gonna do something else, but in a matter of days I'll be playing eve again allright.
This is *not* normal. You could probably fix this... here are some of the worst things you can use:
- Windows ME (hell, 98SE was even better) - Sound Blaster Live (can actually ruin hard drives, literally) - via chipsets (hard to avoid, since they're sooo damn cheap everyone uses them)
Anyway, my point is that if you're having this much trouble and you're just putting up with it, it's your own fault.

Originally by: Amaxma May I be so bold as to suggest that if ppl post into this (or any other thread) stating that EVE is bugged, laggy or in some other fashion failing miserably to provide a consistent gaming experience, that it is (really) ok to occasionally point this out
My PC is in great shape, runs W2K like a dream, has all the drivers etc up to date, and still lags like a fat lass eating pork pies while running a marathon. No other game (whether MMO or standalone with online multiplay) behaves like this, or no other software I run for that matter.
Im sure this is not what some of you would like to read, however it is my experience right now, and has been for several months

Since I started PvP 9mths ago I have lost many more ships to lag than inexperience or stupidity. For me this is not acceptable. For others who may not experience lag/bugs in the way described here, bully for you.
In the meantime, EVE is getting slower and slower, adding more hardware will not solve the problems, just make it harder to find the bottlenecks, and further entrench CCP into continuing with their current code base/architecture.
We're not doing the EVE playerbase any favours by keeping quiet, just the anti-whiners would get upset for having nothing to flame.
Now, back to the lag...
Just wanted to point out that W2K isn't an OS for gamers (or the general public). Granted, it's better than NT ever has been for DX support, but regardless it's for running servers. Case in point, try any Janes simulator... or late 90's game. If it starts, you're lucky. Of course, that's legacy support. Most likely what you're running into with Eve is current technology support (DX9). Consumer hardware support is often lacking on the W2K side as well. I unfortunately wasn't ever able to upload Mp3s to my player, but had to use W2K because it was the only windows OS (besides NT) that supported SMP.
So... using a consumer level OS would give some level of validity to your argument, since that is what CCP would target for their software. Anything else and you might as well complain that you can't run EVE on your toaster.

The EVE client has a BIG, FAT MEMORY LEAK. It always has.
You will find that users running XP have fewer problems because XP has (and it pains me to admit this) superior memory management over other versions of Windoze.

Edited by: kanix357 on 16/12/2004 01:08:29 WOW SO SAD.
I know your case, i jsut warped to another planet it was gone.
I jump into a commodore and 2 executors and some frigats and cruisers also.
What do i do.
I PWN THEM
HARD CORE
My setup is
6 cruiser launchers,
medium = 6 cap recharge 2's
low = 2 armor repairers, 2 hardners depending on the npc ur fighting, and a ballistic control module.
WOW
WOW
Oh i dont crash as much as you do, I think you need to get rid of all the spy ware, viruses.
Or maybe some of the guyz out there that haven reformatted there hardrive since they bought there computer. (REFORMAT)
Defragment does wonders.
Reinstall eve
Roll back your video card drivers. Change ur settings under antilias, and a few others.
Seems like ur setup just blows.
The last week i have been mining with three accounts on one computer, sometiems four. I get a drop every other day,( considering that i have 4 accounts most of the time)
This game has been done beautifully, its one of a kind.
Take ur *****ing to another game.
You need to check ur self dude, and get a glimpse of reality,
unistall.exe and send your account to my email adress.

It doesn`t cost CCP a dime to replace the ships lost, what I can`t believe is that they would take the time to come up with an excuse/reason for not replacing them. Everybody that lost a ship since Exodus, due to a bug/crash/unfinnished patch, should get the cost of the ship back. No if`s and`s or but`s. Seems like a pretty small thing to do to keep paying ( real money, NOT isk) players happy. P.S., CCP, you owe me a Raven, I won`t even ***** about the game play I`ve lost since I`ve been waiting around to get my Raven back. Not everybody has the isk to replace a B.S. when they lose it as insurance does not cover the cost at top lvl.

I am not saying this may be your case, but I sometimes have experienced some problems connecting through faulty hardware, and when all the action was there (most traffic bandwidth used) I have had CTDs and dsl connection microcuts and similar stuff.
Another thing you could do is check in internet forums about the network hardware you use and if they have many problems reported or so. At first in my mind I was blaming CCP too, but short after checking forums I found the real reason, tried other good network hardware and voilß.

Granted: I havnt really done the massive fleet battle bit for a long time.
I know quite a few people who are experiencing ctds since exodus patch came out. I expect this tbh so, although it is frustrating, I can live with it. With a relatively new large patch I think it has gone relatively well and I expect to see the issues causing ctd's to dwindle over time - until the next major patch :)

I know your case, i jsut warped to another planet it was gone.
I presume you missed the part that said he could not warp out?
FYI: I have also noticed that quite often (every night since exodus that I have played) that there is a discrepancy between where the client thinks you are and where the server thinks you are.
I imagine you tried to warp away from those npcs and got scrambled. The client thought you escaped but the server side said that you had not and hence you were getting shot. You could not lock or shoot the npcs because your client thought they were too far away - although they probably were in range but your client was not in sync with the server. If you try ejecting something from your cargo hold you would probably have seen the can appear (or not see) 4.5 au's away near the rats as that is where you actually where.
I notice this a lot when one ship hits another. I run multiple clients and often see one client think the ships did not hit each other and on another client they do hit. So after travelling for a minute or so one client thinks that the other ship is a few kms whilst the other thinks it is on top of them. This made it quite "interesting" for me once when mining. I was 0 metres from a roid according to my overview but could not lock it because it was (on the server side I guess) 180kms from me. I could not warp to it either since my client thought it was closer than 150kms. I had to warp out to somewhere else and warp back in.
With regards to being warp scrambled and having rats hit you due to that bug - damn and ouch - not sure what can be done about that :(
