I'll just sya this heavy missels and a webber work wounders .. I have been very productive in 1 vs 1 combat with belisocse and stabber class crusiers vs all types of eliet frigets from asaults to intys. Most of the time i dont even lauch drones.

No assault frig is defeating me in my thorax in a 1vs1, and unless the cruiser pilot is a noob, or his fitting is in disadvantage (i.e. very long range fitting in the cruiser, short range in the assault frig and they're close), a cruiser can eat an assault frig and keep asking for more. if there are more than 1... that's another thing

I just don't see how an assault frig can eat my maller, let alone my prophecy. A cruiser has got to be very dumb to be blown by an assault frig (well, not really if it's an arbitrator :). If it orbits outside web it either gets hit (has no mwd) by my guns = pwnd, or doesn't get hit (has mwd), but can't overcome my tank. If it gets inside webber range, it's dead. And I'm not even talking about using frig guns here.
A smart and very fast, say, crusader could prolly pwn my maller given time (not sure now with the propulsion nerf), I doubt about prophecy, but an assault = deadmeat to cruisers.

I beat a thorax with small blasters + 1600mm plate with my retribution, he had a full load of ogres out aswell.
He barely started to break my tank before he had to warp off in low struc.

1 v 1 you pretty much need a BS with a scrambler or another Heavy Assault to take one down. A BS without a scrambler will either die or they won't be able to kill each other. Anything less and you'd better make sure you remember double click won't warp your pod away (will people please learn that, its getting embarassing)
That is assuming you don't know exactly what you are fighting, if you do then you can easily fit a loadout that will beat your opponent.
Even that can be difficult though, not a Battlecruiser but I did fight against a Thorax config in my Deimos where he could have killed me but it wasn't a generally usable config and he had to sacrifice everything for it to work including losing the scrambler, which makes it all moot.

some cruisers are more suited to taking on assault frigs, caracels do it very well, i've taken out 3 assault frigates in my caracel, it usually takes me 3 volleys.

If I fit a full rack of techII Neutrons and im inside 1000m I hit for 40-60 damage per gun every 3 secs with a fair few wrecking shots of 137-140 even had some 180 wreckers so if Im churning out 250 dmg every 3 seconds its a hard hitter defensivly its a no hoper with 2 mid slots. Its get him before he gets you!!

how the hell did you do that??
I have caldari cruiser, missile launcher opp and heavy missiles all at lvl4.
I was using limos heavy launchers and a BC.
Last time I went up against n assault frig it took me 3 volleys just to get past his shield??
I was firing 1 thermal, 2 explosive and 2 kinetics each volley..

Mhhh I will shot with my Harpy on 25km with antimatter and making hits doing 50-90 Dam and I think with a common cruiser you got no chance when it¦s not specially fitted for antifrigfight.

Assaults as a general rule are seriously tanked against kinetic and thermal damage. Only really good means of dispatching them is with EM on shield / Explosive on armor, and even then, only the most foolhardy don't pack a hardener for that.

You're only talking about Caldari and Gallente Assaults. The Minmatar Assaults are stacked against EM damage, while the Amar Assaults are stacked against Explosive Damage.
