I strongly suggest every 2+ years old player to give it a try. I feel happier than I would ever thought starting from scratch.
New opportunities, new people to play with, new places to live or just visit on my fresh nonimplants pod, thus I dont care to be podded.
Not saying that you biomass your old blingminmaxed 10b worth toon. Just stay away from it for a moment and don't transfer isk or any help from it. Restart EVE and enjoy the path!

I know of a few people that are doing this and they're enjoying it. When I get my guys where I want them to be I'll probably try it as well.

Funny you should mention that, I restarted with a new character around a couple weeks ago and am loving it. I forgot what running out of cap during missions was like!

Oh man, yeah. I went straight for the FW route when I did this - it's a ton of fun. I should actually devote more time to the FW alt - I think he's finishing up EAF5 or something these days.

I tried it, but the thing I really was looking for was that feeling of eve being huge and how would I ever afford a battlecruiser? It just wasn't the same to start out and knowing exaclty what everything (well, 90%) of everything does and how to raise isk and train efficiently. But that's just me.

I recently restarted too. About a month or so ago. Really wanted a name that fit the caldari aswell.
Been a lot of fun. I did transfer around ~300,000,000 isk since I'll never go back to the old character. I started playing around Quantum Rise (just before it). The new player experience was fantastic compared to the first time I created a character. I did like the original attribute selection though but the tutorials felt far more fluid than before. ôRemember this. Trust your eyes, you will kill each other. Trust your veins, you can all go home in peace.ö

I started a new character a few weeks ago. The feeling you're talking about faded out pretty quick when I ran into a wall of learning learning skills

So you gain a huge disadvantage? Not training learning skills is not an option in eve, you can delay them a bit, but not more.
I got similar experiences, once considered it, started it with a trial, realised the best way was to just delay the plan by a while until all learning skills were trained and then continuing, and decided it wasnt worth it.

The way I look at it, I don't actually have an alt until learning skills are done. You just gotta look at it with a sufficiently long term view.

I tend to roll out a new character every year or so, selling on the previous one when I do so. The last time I really started "fresh" was when I could begin with approximately 800,000 SP which - I stress, is only my personal opinion - was much better than the current low starting sp/100% training bonus in that I could literally start with a Frigate pilot (indeed, almost a Destroyer pilot) ready to go, practically with Tech II small guns (short of a skill book) and decent supporting skills as soon as I logged into it for the very first time. It felt much, much more streamlined.
(Also, rockets weren't complete crap then /bias)
Now I look at the "learning skill wall" and I'm left feeling like I have to sit and wait for some very preliminary skills to count down before it is even worth my thinknig of undocking.
I'm happy that the tutorial is much, much improved upon - which is good, but I don't think it outweighs the complete junking of the old character building process.

I tried this recently. The new tutorial missions sucked all the fun out. All the early milestones I remember, earning my first million, getting my first destroyer, are gone in lieu of having those things given to you in the tutorials.
I suppose I could have simply not done the tutorials, but earning ISK/ships seems kind of silly when there are agents waiting to just give them to you.
The days of truly starting with 5000ISK and a frigate are over. -

The most remarkable thing about being a noob is running out of cap upon activating the warp drive and have to travel between star gates with multiple stops. And then you feel you need to train Warp Drive Operation, though it does not help much.

My favourite part was hitting the minimum sp limit to joining corps, in a game with "no skills race", "no skills grind" and a "brand new guy in a properly fit rifter can be as invaluable as 5 year old in a Carrier" I found it particularly hilarious. -- On planets... nobody can see you macro mining... |

I specially like the learning part and the mandatory skills to be able to fitt the stuff ... oh wait no I hate it, and will never start from scratch again (excepts alt, but my main? No fricking way.).

Yeah, the first time I started... I remember the time spent to get the money for my first Burst... mining veldspar in the belts with my noobship...
Something like a year and hal after I started again with a new character, and instead of mining I stole a 70k isk worth gun from a wreck. I did never feel as smart and lucky as then.

I kind of wound up doing this once, and in my experience it's not all it's cracked up to be. The real thing that makes the first weeks of Eve so unmatched as an experience is that when you start you know nothing about the game, nothing about what mods do or what skills to train, what race requires what tactics, etc, and starting to learn all of that information results in a feeling of blissed-out overstimulation for anyone who cares enough about game mechanics.
The days when mining felt worthwhile as a way to fund skillbook purchases, when I felt clever for selling trimarks my corp manufactured instead of fitting them to my hurricane (they were large trimarks, worth as much as the ship), when I proudly fit my first tech II module to my rifter (an inertial stab) in the assumption that being more maneuverable would make it easier to dodge shots from BS in the level 4 missions I was helping salvage - all those lulzy situations were the result of lack of knowledge.
So as fun as it was, I wouldn't go back. More to the point, I couldn't have the same experience now, as I know how to earn isk much more quickly from the market than my old bearing corp ever worked out despite having years old subs.

I did this, then I ended up skilling my alt to be a Hurricane godess, maxing all relevant skills to that ship...
I wonder if she is actually a more competent BC pilot then my main now :S
But the lack of isk, and lack of fitting skilsl was a pain in teh start! However I proved all the "unbalanced SP/ISK old players/new players" noobs wrong when my 200k SP pilot got kills in her Rifter ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few months ago my account was inactive and I had no ISK. Real life issues meant I couldn't spare any cash to re-sub, so I ended up creating a trial toon and working my way to 300m to buy a plex for my main :)

I loved my first days in eve, busting my ass off for my very first cruiser... thinking 5 million isk was rich! And oh my god i felt like i won the game when i finally got my battleship lol. Now with a billions, throwing away battleships is meaningless. Games are so much more fun when you have to work for your success, instead of just having a huge pile of money... it becomes trivial to lose capitals even...

I just did the same thing with my alt. At 3 days old, I got my first kill in a rifter, totally unassisted. It was a blast, to be honest, although I admit I did transfer about 10 mil from my main to get started. Skipped all the tutorials and went straight to the fighting. Was more fun than I've had in Eve in quite a while.
