We apologize for any inconvenience.
Never mind, you can just add a few more SP into the little compensation gift
In spite of what CCP would like everyone to believe, it's not really a "gift". It's their way of trying to avoid everyone from evoking their rights under item #14 of the EULA and asking for 30+ hours added to their account or refunded. Account time costs them money, SP are free...
If you accept the SPs, you have no right to complain

There are really only two viewpoints being expressed here. We could streamline things by agreeing to only use two standard posts.
1. I am upset.
2. I am an apologist.

first time its been patched since the new database moved and you all still moan about it.
step outside take a breath.
you all knew that there could be problems or would be problem. could be problems.
gief ccp a break go outside and look at the wider world beyond your bedroom walls
CCP initially gave a time when it should be completed by, this gave the players a certain expectation. When that expectation is not realised and considering the previous patch delays, they have every right to complain.

2 minutes left, i put my monies on an extra hour...b/c that would fall about norm for these guys...sadly
I would seriously have issues if i owned a company, and these sort of things where being truthfully said about it. And i would do my best to FIX it. But not for the Mac users....

Edited by: Ushtok on 29/06/2010 15:00:39 I work in IT, and have for almost 20 years. I understand things go wrong, and working with a multitude of vendors just complicates things.
However, we always add what I call "Oh Sh!t" time to downtime estimates. Usually about 20 - 30%, sometimes even 50% depending on the scope, because things do happen, and we want people to be informed of what to do with their time. If they are expecting systems to be up/down at a certain times, they plan their time accordingly. Very rarely do we have to be down longer than what we claim, and most often we come in at our original estimate and people can get on earlier than expected. This makes people happy. We don't do it to look good, we just want our employees/customers to be making good use of their time.
So I ask that CCP do the same. It doesn't hurt to add time to an estimate, at least people are planning ops. I've actually took mental days off from work to play EVE, only to find an update taking way longer than stated.
Now, on the flip side, these EVE updates usually take longer than what is noted, so after 7 years of playing EVE, I make sure I have a long skill training, and I don't make any plans to play eve to well after the announced time after my previous experiences.

Do you really want people to be fired for this? Lose their jobs, default on their mortgage? Abandoned by their wife and children? Finally ending up on the streets, desperate, hungry and alone? Just because you couldn't play with your spaceship?
Yes
